Sunday Tomfoolery and Lovely Link Roundup

All Chanel-ed out, yo!

Hey, homies. How’s it going today? I’ve been up to a whole lot of nothing so far, having pretty much wasted away the day surfing the web, but I did find a few interesting links.

  • Rapunzel, let down your hair! Check out these super-sized styles from around the world — Bella Sugar
  • Why, yes, I’ve always dreamed of purchasing a pair of rhinestone-studded beef jerky underpants — Daddy Likey
  • Nail art with skulls and plaid? I’m there — Vampy Varnish
  • Warning: L.A.M.B. cage heels may incite shoe lust! — Manolo’s Shoe Blog
  • Blanked-out brows and black lips: Kim Kardashian’s goth look — Troy Jensen
  • Could Imju Fiberwig Mascara be the answer to my eyelash prayers? — We Heart This
  • 11 steps to living a remarkable life — Unclutterer
  • This post really got me thinking about how paying it forward can change your life for the better — Zen Habits
  • Does your life feel like an endless stream of daunting projects? Yeah, mine too — Psychology Today
  • Why girls have BFFs and boys hang out in packs — Time
  • I’m dying to try Japanese Nail Art! — Neon Bible

I took the top picture after yesterday’s Chanel Master Class at Macy’s. I learned a few new tips (which I’ll share soon) and discovered the gorgeousness that is the Sparkling Satins eyeshadow quad ($56).

I asked one of the instructors which quad she likes best, and she handed me Sparkling Satins. Part of Chanel’s permanent collection, it’s a powder quad with four shimmery shades of silvery blue, gold, pink and black. Have you ever played with it before?

I ended up falling for it *hard*. 🙂

Karen

Your sunday sounds just like mine! I watched TV and surfed the net. I am trying out a new straightening iron and so far so good!

I look forward to hearing about what you learned at the class!

      Hi Kajal Couture,

Oh, fun! What kind of straightening iron did you get? I’ve been wanting to try the BaByliss ones.

By falling for it hard do you mean you bought five of them 😛 It looks so beautiful though! 4 great colors. I always talk myself out of quads because there is always one color that I don’t like but this one is perfection!

      Hi Meg,

LOL! I probably would if I found out it was limited edition. I didn’t think it would be wearable at first, but it is! Love it.

      Hi Vampy Varnish,

      The quad = AWESOME.

You gotta try the shadows someday! Hit up on of the Chanel events in the Bay Area someday.

Great links! 😀 I like how skulls are ever more in fashion these days…

Also, do you happen to know if there’s a less sparkly alternative to the Givenchy Sun Rose Pop Gloss? I haven’t seen anything with the same amazing color or texture, but it is a bit blingy – not to mention the price tag!

      Hi Tea,

Hmm, have you ever tried the Sally Hansen Diamond Lip Treatments? Like the Givenchy Pop Glosses, they aren’t sticky and feel thin on the lips. There’s a whole mess of colors, and each costs just $6. If you’re looking for something peachy you might want to try Flawless.

LOVE the 11 steps to unclutter your life. This is perfect timing for me. I can’t take it anymore, my place is a mess! I need to go to Container Store this afternoon.

Hmmmm, I’ve seen Sparkling Satins before but haven’t been smitten, I’m betting I could fall for it if I had guidance on how to use it! Over on my end, I got the Chanel Evergreen palette, Murano quad and Intuition lipstick and I am in luuuuuuuurve! <3 😀

    Hey Karen!
You look so pretty in that picture!!! Love your make-up!! 🙂 I really want to go to one of the Chanel master classes too but the counter at the local Macy’s said they always have it on weekdays.. too bad, or good for my wallet actually!!! 😉 but seriously I have been wanting to get some lipsticks and glossimers but can never decide on what to get. Plus when I think of Chanel I think luxury and I want the whole shopping experience to be luxurious, you know with a make-up artist who knows what she/he’s talking about… that’s quite hard to find sometimes! Enjoy your new goodies!

      Hi Merylynmagic,

Oh, maybe the next time they have an event during the week you can take a vacay day and turn it into a mini pampering event with a friend! You could go to class and then maybe have lunch and go window shopping afterwards. 🙂 Everyone deserves a fun treat now and then, right?

How was your weekend? Didn’t this one fly right by?

      Hi Marisol,

It’s a line one can easily get addicted to. Maybe next time there’s a Chanel event schedule a makeover? That’s what did it for me, eek!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
