Hiya, beautiful! Ah, deep breath in… Deep breath out… We made it to the weekend! (And I’m assuming you’re still in one piece?! I really hope so.)
I’m in the mood for coffee and a chocolate croissant this morning because I just finished binge watching this show on Netflix…
It’s from Darren Star, the guy who also did Sex and the City, and if you and your brain desperately need to be transported to a light and fluffy, frothy universe for a few hours…it’s the way to go. It’s about an American girl who works in marketing and moves to Paris — without knowing a lick of French, SAY WHAT?! — for a new job. It’s a little soapy, a little corny, and not remotely close to realistic at all, but it’s lots of fun! I warn you…by the end of the season, you may find yourself craving a baguette, a hunk of cheese and a glass of bubbly. ?
If I get any alone time by myself this weekend, I just might rewatch a few episodes.
Anywho, grab your breakfast wine coffee or tea, and settle down for a bit with this week’s reading…
- Thick black eyeliner and matte smokey eyes are ’90s eye makeup trends that are supposed to be major next year. What say you? I’m totally down with this, 100%.
- Makeup artists break down how to seamlessly apply and blend concealer.
- Monochromatic smokey copper eyes are having a moment this fall.
- What ceramides can do for your skin, and how to add these powerful ingredients to your routine.
- According to dermatologists, here are changes you can make to your skin care as we head deeper into fall and winter.
- Interesting read —-> “Human hair is a valuable commodity traded across international borders.”
- Beauty experts weigh in on how to get healthier-looking hair if yours won’t stop thinning or straight-up falling out.
- Calling all of my friends who live in Wisconsin! I really need to know if this perfume, Eau de Wisconsin, really does smell like your state.
- Funky animal scents used to be popular with royalty back in the day. ???
Let us eat croissants!
Super pretty
I’ve been playing this lately, although not nearly as well as this dude!!!
Awwww
I think the fam-bam and I are going to Marin French Cheese for a picnic this afternoon. It’s starting to feel like fall in the mornings around here, but we’re supposed to see a little sun today and/or tomorrow, so we’re going to take advantage of it as much as possible.
What are you up to? I hope you’re doing well.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Thanks for the Netflix recommendation! I am watching the last episode of Schitt’s Creek as I write this (?) so I will need another show to get into! I meant to look up Marin French Cheese the last time you mentioned it because I was pretty sure I’d been there before and yes, I have! Such a fun, and delicious, place to go! Today I am making slow cooker Lentil Bolognese. I need to get outside and cut back some of my plants before winter. Happy Caturday!

Lentil Bolognese! That sounds yummy. Do you just swap lentils in place of meat and keep everything else the same?
Rachel says
I suppose you could do it that way! This is the recipe I used –

And update: I just ate some and it was good!

I watched the trailer for Emily in Paris and it was so clichéd I just can’t bring myself to watch it. But if you’re enjoying it, I say go for it.
That video of the cat purring in front of the space heater just made my day! Sent it to Dear Daughter and she loved it too!
I tried to sneak into Sephora before I went produce shopping (because the farm stand and Sephora I go to are in the same mall), but my location was closed. It’s been closed every time I’ve tried to go in. Sigh. I guess it’s saving me money, because I’m reluctant to buy a shadow palette on-line only to return it because the colors aren’t what I was expecting.

I was sick with a sinus infection this week, I’m so behind on MBB!
I think I’ve got my fall/winter skincare going well and ceramides are definitely part of it. My skin is looking really good right now.
I’m curious about Eau de Wisconsin. I’m from Michigan but my husband has family near Milwaukee and my brother did his doctorate in Madison.

I am so excited that you discovered Emily in Paris!! I love love love this show! I only have four episodes left, and I am trying not to watch them all at once ’cause I don’t want it to be over. I hope they do a season 2. Once you have finished binge-watching Emily, have you seen The Home Edit show? The two women that wrote the book now have a show on Netflix produced by Reese Witherspoon, and on the first episode they organize all of Reese’s movie clothes, especially the ones from Legally Blonde! It is so addictive and so relaxing to watch them work their magic. You will want to raid the Container Store and redo every room in your house.

Wisconsin native here. The Wisconsin scent has me intrigued, although I was expecting notes of bratwurst, cheese and brandy old fashion sweets. ?
Started watching The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix after loving The Haunting of Hill House. So far, so good!

I watched that last week! I enjoyed it despite some cringe worthy cliches, but it’s a fantasy anyways. It definitely made me up my dinner game and want to work on some basic French language skills.
