Happy Caturday, friend! I’m walking up and down the hallway doing a royal pageant wave because I feel like The Queen of Everything ? now that we have a working air conditioner! YAY!!!
Yep, a new AC, new water heater, and a new furnace, all of which were broken (in a 40-year-old condo, when it rains, it pours).
So if you need me this weekend, you’ll find me sitting under a vent, living my best life. ?
Now, this week’s reading…
- Want to know what Cleopatra smelled like? Two University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa professors have recreated her ancient perfume, and it’ll be showcased in a National Geographic exhibit.
- Speaking of fragrances, Cosmopolitan (as in the magazine), is launching a new perfume.
- A brief history of one of my favorite brands of all time: MAC.
- How sweet! This gorgeous fluffy kitty brings her neighbors pink flowers.
- Could this be the dawn of a new day for wannabe cat ladies with allergies? Scientists are studying how adding an antibody to feline food may help people with cat allergies.
- Sooooo many fun facts about cat paws in this post, including the fact that cats can be left- or right- pawed. I wish I could remember which one Tabs was (I think he may have been right-pawed).
- Shoot, even Idris Elba has no idea what the Cats movie is all about, and he’s starring in it! Lawd help me, but I think I need to experience that train wreck.
- 10 cult classic lipsticks, according to Vogue
- What skin care formulators say you should save (sunscreen, niacinamide, salicylic acid) and splurge (retinol, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid) on…
- Speaking of skin care, there’s some serious hype surrounding chemical exfoliant polyhydroxy acids (PHAs) right now.
- OLAPLEX’s new hair oil is supposed to make your hair look uber-glossy without adding any weight… WANT!

I’m still laying in bed, that’s my favorite thing! I perform hula hoop at our city’s Pride celebration this afternoon/evening, but I’m recovering from a bad chest cold so I’m resting up.
I’m tempted to put catnip in my yard to attract cats and make them my friends – I would love a kitty to bring me pink flowers.

Yay so happy for you and your AC! In North Dakota, a working heater is not optional, but A/C is. Luckily on this humid 90 degree day I have both! I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of some of my Nordstrom anniversary sale items!

Yay cool air! Enjoy!

The kitty leaving the flowers is just too sweet! I love that picture of you and Connor. Those smiles!
The weekend is going OK so far. I’m being lazy. Hubby took our son to work so I could sleep in. I’ve just been reading blogs and drinking tea. I should go wash my hair as soon as I eat something.

That is absolute baloney that you need to splurge on retinol, vitamin C, HA … etc. I mean, you certainly should try and buy from a reputable brand and ensure it’s a good product, but price does not equal quality.
OMG that cat!!! I’m in love. This reminded me so much of my cat who’s passed. He was amazing. I couldn’t keep him inside unfortunately, but also that meant that he would go visit numerous neighbors. He also went right into their houses. They would try to keep him LOL, he was the SWEETEST. We had good relationships with some of our neighbors so they’d always let people know that he was our cat haha. Thank goodness though he always came home! He passed too soon, and it broke my heart so so much. The story on that kitty was so lovely. ???

I tried the Olaplex oil and it lives up to the hype. I love it!

Karen, I can’t believe the article on MAC…my favorite lipstick brand of all time!! They said that Flamingo was their first lipstick. I bought Flamingo for the first time in the Spring, and I’ve been wearing it non-stop all Summer. It has become my fave lipstick. I was just thinking that my tube was getting so low, that I should order another one. Then, I opened your email with the article about MAC. I better listen to my intuition, and go out and get another tube. LOL!!
