Need Your Accessories Advice on These Pink Kate Spade Glasses, Plus Some BOMB Bread From Costco

Cat lady vibes

OK, fam. Need your input on these *very pink*, very cat lady-esque frames by Kate Spade, which I tried on at Costco last weekend.

Normally, I’d be totally down for fun frames, especially fun pink ones, but I feel like going this bold would be a significant commitment, since there’s really nothing subtle about them AT ALL. If I get these, whenever I walk into a room, my glasses would walk in first. Know what I mean? (Does that make any sense at all?) Plus, what does one do when one’s outfits clash with their glasses? My last pair (also by Kate Spade) are neutral enough to go with most things, but these pink frames? Well…they aren’t neutral at all. LOL!

That may or may not be El Hub’s elbow!

Let me know what you think. Too much? Or are they juuuuuust enough crazy cat lady?

By the way, in case you were unaware, trying on glasses at Costco is my definition of an exciting Friday night. #momlife

I also looked at air fryers (so exciting…), but I hesitated to pull the trigger because dang! — those things are big. I need to figure out how to squeeze one into my kitchen, which is already too crowded as it is. I’ve reached maximum gadget levels, and an air fryer would tip me into hoarder status.

I really want one, though, because everyone I know who has one raves about it.

One last Costco-related note: Get thee a loaf of cranberry walnut bread from the bakery ASAP.

I heard about this bread from my coworkers at the bakery, where it enjoys legendary status amongst our staff, so I got a loaf last weekend.

As you can see, half of this one has already disappeared into our tummies… OK, my tummy. 🙂

IT’S SO GOOD, especially with brie and sliced pears (or apples), or toasted and topped with peanut butter for breakfast.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

OMG they used to have a taro walnut cranberry bread at the Farmers Market and I am so sad that they no longer carry it. Mom got me a Costco membership for Xmas. DO I GO to Costco JUST for this loaf of bread?? 😀

Frames: YES. And I like the tortoise shell pair Connor Claire tried on, too!

agree! the pink kate spade are super fun but not too crazy that I don’t think they can be worn daily.

if you are realllly worried about being too bold, maybe the pink tortoise that CC tried on would be a nice balance?

Do you have the budget for two pairs of glasses, a daily pair and a fun pair? The pink pair would be great for no-makeup days or when you’re in a fun mood.

I like the pink! I think the shape and color are just right! And that bread looks amazing, except I don’t have a Costco in my town. We have Sam’s Club, which is the same company as Walmart, except they sell bulk items like Costco.

Ok I’m really annoyed because last summer I was looking for STATEMENT glasses and all the options everywhere were boring. I settled on a slight cat eye, purple pair from Costco. It was the craziest I could find. HAD I SEEN THESE… Things might have turned out differently. 😍

I love Glasses with a capital G. Yes they enter the room first but they are basically your personal DJ that announces your every entrance. “And now, give it up for KAAAA-REEEEEN!!!” *crowd goes wild* who wouldn’t want that? I am hella inspired by people who wear statement glasses. Statement glasses help you take up space. They insist on your presence. They communicate confidence. They covertly give permission to others to also do their thang. They are the shit! Get em.

Normally I adore all things pink and I do like those glasses but you have delicate features and I think they overwhelm your face. If they had a frame that was smaller, I’d say do it.

    Ah bread. Staff of life.

Also, I want your phone case but I have an itsy bitsy iPhone SE, which is better for my small hands and I think Connor Claire only carries those phone cases in larger sizes in her shop.

Also after reading some of the comments here about the pink eyeglasses, I think you need to add that question to the next Monday poll.

I LOVE the glasses, you really can pull them off! With them being a baby pink they can definitely be worn daily without fear of them looking too bold or crazy! Strong yes from me!!! x

All the Yes’s for those pink glasses! I’ve recently discovered that in my mid-40’s, I’m willing to wear on a daily basis unique or bold pieces I used to save for unique occasions. For example, lately my studded and grommet moto boots are an everyday thing and not just for “that outfit!” So in my current mood, I say YES to the glasses!
I NEED to go to Costco, and I’ll be looking for that bread!
    Love your blog, Karen!

Yes to pink glasses. You look super stylish. Also, if you just want reading glasses, have you seen these? They are super cute. I have this pair. They are adjustable so if you’re laying on one side reading, etc., you can adjust in various ways. It’s super cool.

YES to the pink glasses! They look fabulous on you. If you find that there are some days that they just aren’t right, buy a cheapo pair online for those days.

My thought was what others have said . . . if you want to buy two pairs, this could be a great fun pair, but not sure it’s something you’d want to wear every day. Do you watch the Today show? Al Roker has a bunch of bright colored frames.

That’s such a good idea! Costco has a good deal on frames right now, so I might do that!

I have to agree that the pink glasses are adorable, but a bit much for every day. The pink and tortoiseshell pair that Connor is rocking, though, might be purr-fect. (Yes, dog-lady made a cat-lady joke!) 🐶😺

I have statement(ish) glasses, but they’re light blue and black, which go with just about everything I own. So that makes them a sensible statement, I guess. 😄

If a bakery is recommending bread from Costco, I guess I’m making a trip to Costco soon!

The pink frames are so cute on you!! I can’t recall if you have an instapot, but if you do they are making a lid that turns it into an airfryer!! I have not purchased one yet, but… it is on my list!!

I think the pink frames are fine. If they were day-glo pink, that would be another story. Did you notice that it took about 20 years for large frames to come back into style? I needed new glasses around 1998-2000, and almost all the frames were ridiculously small; I think the makers thought they looked “futuristic,” and that was appropriate for “the year 2000.”
My current glasses are what I call a cross between “Clark Kents” and cateye frames. They’re smaller than the pink ones you have in the photo. They are medium blue metal with gold earpieces, by Tory Burch.

I agree with if you can get the pink, have 2 pairs. I have a statement pair just for fun (a buy one, get half off great deal!) along with my daily goes with anything glasses. And if i break one at least i have a spare! I love the size choices out now. My fun one is a blue tortoise shell slight cat eye. Years ago the glasses were huge or wire frames (dad was an optician, he made my glasses then ). The wire frame pads would hurt your nose I hated those lol The pink look good on you, they’re not too much imo.

I think you could wear the pink ones most days, they are not too much. I would worry more about the fact that they might clash with my favorite red lipsticks though.
