So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of five more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007). I love reading your answers, and it helps me get my week off to a good start. ?
- Top notes: Bergamot (Citrus), Juicy Pear, Pink Peppercorn
- Middle Notes: Rose and Jasmine
- Bottom Notes: White Musk, Vanilla, Patchouli, Cedarwood
1. Clam chowder or linguine and clams?
I’ll take the clam chowder as long as it’s New England clam chowder, and then only if the clams are already out of their shells and chopped up into teeny, tiny little pieces.
I swear I’m not picky! Just totally weird about clams. If they’re still in the shells, forget about it. I had way too many traumatic incidents eating them as a child…
2. 2020 skinny jeans or 1995 vintage jeans?
Gimme the skinny jeans please with a high rise and a little bit of stretch…but not too much.
3. Your favorite punctuation mark?
I do love an exuberant exclamation mark every once in a while!
4. Something about you that sounds made up but is true?
When I was a teenager, I was almost kidnapped. ?
5. If your pet was a fan of a TV show, what show would it be?
Ya know, even though Rosie is a serious intellectual, I can see her getting sucked into The Bachelorette against her will.
6. Have you ever fallen down a flight of stairs?
OMG, yes! I accidentally tumbled down a flight of stairs at the San Francisco Orpheum theater during intermission while watching Wicked… I was wearing high heels and took a wrong step. Pretty sure my lady parts flashed half the mezzanine, too, but ya know, it was SF. Since everyone there had probably at one point or another been unintentionally exposed to body parts, nobody batted a lash.
I was mortified though.
7. Cold scrambled eggs — great or gross?
SO BEYOND GROSS. I can only eat scrambled eggs when they’re warm and silky soft. If they’re even a smidgen overcooked, I can’t. I just CANNOT.
8. Are you wearing a scent today?
Other than the scent of exhaustion? Kidding! (Kinda.) I’m wearing Lancôme Idole today. It’s so fresh and floral and light, and I love it. The official scent notes are…
9. What’s for lunch?
I have half a TJ’s Buffalo Ranch Chopped Salad kit that I need to finish, so I’ll probably have that.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Kim says
I’m so glad I hopped back for a minute because it’s not a great day and seeing Connor’s happy, smiling face totally improved my mood! 🙂
1. Clam chowder or linguine and clams? I can’t eat either any more (dumb allergy) but I’d have done linguine back in the day. If it had to be chowder, definitely NE.
2. 2020 skinny jeans or 1995 vintage jeans? Skinny, stretchy and low rise!
3. Your favorite punctuation mark? Ellipses, of course. 😉 Kidding. I’m going with the question mark. It always seemed a little sassy to me.
4. Something about you that sounds made up but is true? Karen, that’s terrible. What a scary thing. I’m so glad you weren’t. I can’t think of anything for me.
5. If your pet was a fan of a TV show, what show would it be? Probably Planet Earth. Lots of beautifully shot wildlife to “chase” around the living room. HAHA!
6. Have you ever fallen down a flight of stairs? Yes. Similar but I was in a very crowded bar and it was winter (and the stairs were snowy/wet). Wiped out in front of the entire dance floor and only the shame got me up. I had a huge, raised bruise for years. And I’m not kidding. Oh, that could have been the answer to #4. 😉
7. Cold scrambled eggs — great or gross? Gross. I like them to be creamy from using a touch of heavy cream, but I can’t abide by any undercooked texture (same with an omelet – not a baveuse fan). I definitely prefer dry. Runny eggs gross me out so much. Not yolks, I’m fine with over easy, but runny whites or scrambled. Blech!
8. Are you wearing a scent today? I’m about to douse myself in SUCK IT UP. Yes, life is full of disappointments. Move one. HAHA! I like to motivate myself with these little pep talks. I respond better to tough love.
9. What’s for lunch? It was caesar salad. Really just romaine and homemade dressing. Same as every workday.
Karen says
Ugh, I’m sorry that you’re having a yucky day. I hope that you’re feeling a little better. You’ve got this, OK?

Thanks! You, too! I hope your Tuesday is fab so far. 🙂

5. If your pet was a fan of a TV show, what show would it be?
This Old House. I have two male cats and they are both quite masculine so I could see them being good with tools.

Karen says
Your answer to number 5 cracks me up. I wonder if Tabs would’ve been good with tools… I want to say yes because he was such a thug, but I also get the sense that he would not put up with getting his paws dirty. LOL! The things cat ladies say.
BTW I love that Origins scent. For a while I was really into it after they discontinued Spring Fever (BRING IT BACK!!!).
Rachel says
That Origins scent is about the only thing I can stomach right now!
And for some reason I have this vision of my cats being like Drew and Jonathan Scott, flipping houses! If they had thumbs that is.
Karen says
Oh boy. So it’s officially started. Wait until you get a whiff of parmesan. LOL! Or onions or garlic frying! BTW you’ll come to loathe trash day. All the cans lined up on the street, one after the other… BLAHHH!
I love the idea of your cats being so savvy with home improvement. I wish they could team up to redo my bathroom!

6. Have you ever fallen down a flight of stairs? Yes, when I was 4 or 5 I fell down the stairs to our basement and landed hard on the concrete floor. Ended up with quite a lump on my noggin. My grandmother who spoke no English helped me up and then pulled out his huge bladed knife from the drawer. I started screaming because I thought she was gonna cut the lump off my forehead. But she just held the icy cold blade against the lump to help it go down. Clearly it was summer and not winter because there would have been plenty of snow and ice outside to put on the lump if it was winter in the midwest.
