** THE GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED **
This giveaway is closed, and the winner has been contacted (CONGRATULATIONS, INDIA!!!), but check back next Saturday for another giveaway.
See, now, I knew I should have gotten that toy shark pincer claw thingy when I saw it at the Monterey Bay Aquarium a couple weeks ago because I could really use longer arms right now. I move around like a seal out of water! Turning over in bed takes me 10 minutes (only slightly exaggerating), and this is all to say that I can barely move right now, and reaching for things, like the light switch beside my bed, takes superhuman effort.
Good times…
How’s it going this morning, my friend? If it’s still snowing where you are, I sure hope it stops soon. Sending you warm vibes…
BTW, your tabby nephew has been very unsympathetic to the whole pregnancy plight situation, and I think he needs a “talking to.” Every night he repeatedly tries to climb Mt. Karen, even though Mt. Karen does not want to be climbed, so I politely scoot him off, but then he just tries again…
You really can’t change that tabby’s mind when once it gets fixated on something.
Whatever you’re doing today, I hope it isn’t under 10 feet of snow! Have a great weekend, and good luck in the giveaway. Reader Bonnie Clyne won one last month. I wonder what she ended up getting…
@karenmbb TY for the Sephora GC! With your humor, the way you write, and including Tabs, it's like hanging with a friend vs. reading a blog!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
I’m loving the MUFE Nourishing Primer!
Happy weekend from Manitoba Canada !! We are having a fantastic snow day – me,hubby and 3 kitties snuggled in warm and content !!!
I’m from Scotland-at some times of the year you can see the Aurora from my family home 🙂 beautiful!
I’ve never seen the aurora borealis, but would LOVE to!
What are some of your Sephora must-haves? I’ve just recently begun shopping there and would love some recommendations, especially lippies!
i have allergic reactions to products pretty often. it’s so frustrating!
& i wear white liner on my waterline a lot
I would LOVE to see the Aurora Borealis! I’ve only read about them in books.
I saw the aurora borealis once in central New York, of all places! Apparently many people across that latitude were able to see it that night. Very cool. I would love to see it again, though!
Sadly, we are buried under 18″ of snow (thanks, Philly!) and I am allergic to MAC’s Cream Color Base. 🙁 Thankfully, we have not lost power and are not stuck on the road anywhere. And they have sent police out to drive the homeless to shelters. I hope stray animals are OK.
My favorite primer is Embryolisse! Love love love for winter time!
Yes, I’ve seen the Aurora Borealis many times. I lived in Alaska for 14 years. If you’ve not seen them in person, it’d be worth a trip to do so! Beautiful!
I haven’t see the northern lights which is disappointing anti me since I live in very northern wasington. Maybe this summer I will
Everyone out on the east coast … Stay safe! I’m feeling lucky to be having an unseasonably warm winter!
Wold love to win!! Hunkered down in the blizzard and impulse make-up shopping 🙂
I have allergic reactions to lots of makeup unfortunately! Luckily most makeup counters let you have samples so you can try before you buy! 🙂
Enjoy your weekend!
Hi karen, hope you and baby girl are feeling well this week. I’m in Ohio and we got around 8 inches of snow. It snowed from 11am yesterday until at least around 5-6am this morning. Hope you aren’t feeling too bad, I know the end of pregnancy can get uncomfortable and tiring. Cant wait to see her or hear her name.
I have been allergic to Smashbox eyeshadows before so now I am really scared to buy any new ones from them.
Hope you have a great weekend, Karen!

I have had the biggest allergic reaction to MAC foundation and I wanted to cry!!!
The only primer I’ve tried is Benefit’s Porefessional but I love it so far!
Speaking of Benefit, if I had to choose only 3 products to keep from my 2015 makeup Purchases they’d be Benefit Girl Meets Pearl highlighter, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Exorcism, and Anastasia DipBrow Pomade!
I moved to Chicago several years ago from DC. My family told me I was crazy because of the weather. We can manage extreme weather. They’re getting blasted with snow. We haven’t gotten any. Look who’s laughing now? Plus, we have beach which is glorious in the summer! :p
my favorite primer is the benefit porefessional 🙂
My favorite primer is the hourglass mineral veil
I had the WORST reaction to Diorshow mascara once. It was my first time using it, or any Dior cosmetic for that matter, and I don’t know if I had an allergic reaction or if it was contaminated but my eyes got really swollen and red and a few days later the skin on and around my eyelids peeled really bad. Prior to the incident, I had a small skintag under my left eye and they peeled so much that it actually removed it! So at least it had a happy ending, lol, but the experience was so bad I’ll never try another Dior cosmetic again.
At this time, I’m using Benefits primer. Would love to try others. ..
A product that I’m always breaking? Hmmmmm….. Plates! 🙂
I’s love to see the aurora borealis
Love Mac cream color base in hush.
Hi Karen!
Greetings from Virginia, where we’ve gotten +4″ of snow. It may not sound like much to some, but I’m from Souther Cali! So thankful that we have not lost power yet!
Any who, I recently started using MAC’s Prep + Prime 24 hr extend eye base and I do not know how I’ve lived life without it. I’ve tried several different types of eyeshadow primers but didn’t really have one that was a must have. It’s so silky and dries nicely! Absolutely love it!!
This is so awesome of you! Thank you for the opportunity <3
-Emily
I live in northern Canada where the aurora are out very regularly! We have a lot of tourists because of them, too! It’s amazing, but it can bee too easy to take for granted when it’s been around your whole life! 😀
They’re commonly referred to as northern lights 🙂
Love love hourglass primer!
The Hourglass Ambient Light powders make my skin so red and irritated. I must be allergic to them. So sad because they are so beautiful.
I’m on a no buy. OMG the inhumanity 🙂
Yes, I have been allergic to lotion before, my face got all red and blotchy.
K & T – Purr your advice I purchased & tried the Nars Velvet Matte Tint. It really is quite nice & I like that it has sunscreen. Thank you for the recommendation!
I like white eyeshadow on the lid only if it’s shimmery – matte white is eh :/
Hi Karen, Im originally from Maine and one of my favorite childhood winter activities was making snow angels. Now that I live in California, Im making sand angels 😉
I’m always breaking my Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter Pressed Powders. I think I’ve broken three! They’re just so fragile!
I’ve got this tarte cc clay primer stuff that I’ve been using, and I think it works pretty well? I have a hard time telling with primers, because I have really oily skin and pretty much nothing works on me. Ugh.
I prefer nude eyeliner over white eyeliner, although I definitely tried to rock white eyeliner during the 90s.
I actually have a question. Have you ever heard or used Karity cosmetics??
Hi Karen!
Hv a nice weekend!
Really need a new foundation 🙂
I’ve made tons of snow angels when I was little.
its my life aim to see the Northern lights, an orca & a great white shark then I shall feel completed! However with all the new beauty products around that part of my life will always require more!
I actually never wear white eyeshadow or eyeliner. I never realized that because I have so many whites in palettes that I own but I never wear them. Sometimes I’ll blend them with another shade to make it lighter but never on it’s own. Unless cream counts, I overuse cream colored liner and shadow
India recently posted … Mini Sephora haul?
Currently in love with mineral foundation and MUFE full cover concealer. Looks so natural and let’s the skin breathe. Current foundation is Laura Mercier Mineral Foundation.
My Toofaced blushes and bronzers always break; I love them but they seem so fragile!
I wear white as a base to make other colors pop or sometimes on its own in some areas to brighten 🙂
My current priming routine helps keep my face very dewy during these dry winter months. I’ve been using the Nivea Men’s Sensitive After Shave Balm (thanks, various youtubers!) and then putting MAC’s Strobe Cream on top, all over my face. The Nivea Balm keeps me moisturized throughout the entire day, though it does make you smell very man-ish. I’m single, so the scent lets me pretend for a few minutes that I’m not, har har. The Strobe Cream adds a really nice glow to my skin, but it’s not as full-on as using one of Becca’s liquid highlighters all over the face. It’s also surprisingly moisturizing. This little combo keeps my makeup looking fresh for most of the day, and it keeps my skin from looking dull and dry.
I’ve tried white eyeliner (on the bottom waterline), but I have yet to try white eye shadow. I prefer cream or light nude eye shadow colors over white because I think they’re less stark. Thanks for the giveaway!
I had an allergic reaction to First Aid Beauty products-super bummed about that!
Yes I have had allergic reactions to makeup. I have to be very careful with brands and the types of makeup that I use as I am allergic to so much. Thanks for the chance.
I wish I had a snow day…..in mississippi. It can be two or three snow days
I love white eyeliner!
I have made a snowangel but when i was little.
I sometimes wear white eyepencil or eyeliner. I love it.
My favourite primer now is from yves saint laurent, the one with the 24 k gold inside.
I love how personal your blog is. Every time I watch your videos I feel like I know you a little bit more, in a friend way 🙂 I think Tabs will be just fine when your baby girl arrives. I love how you incorporate him into your posts too in such creative ways. Thank you for always making me smile throughout my sometimes hectic week.
Lately, I’ve gotten back into using Babyskin and it works really well for me!
I am using Baby Skin by Maybelline !
I used to make snow angel when i was younger. Now I usually just pray the snow doesn’t stick lol but unfortunately over here the snow is so high today if you tried to make a snow angel no one would see you lol
Hi Karen, My current favorite primer is Dior Skin Refiner Matte Primer but I’ve also been testing out Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and that one is wonderful on my winter skin since it’s not as oily as during the warmer months. Hope you are feeling great!
I’ve never had an allergic reaction to skincare or makeup, but my go-to fashion choice in the early 90s (hypercolor, obvs) made me break out in a rash every time I wore it. But my 9-year old self could not be deterred! Pain is beauty, as they say 😉

no i haven’t ever made a snow angel. i was born and raised in florida. i have seen snow but not much of it.
Blue eyeshadow almost all brands cause my eyes to become red and watery except for sugarpill and kat von d….that means all the beautiful max blued I can’t use):…..have a good weekend
My current favorite primer is Benefit’s Porefessional. 🙂
Snow angels? yes! in fact as I speak the east coast is getting about 4 feet of snow today! Favorite primer: hourglass and nars (face and eyes, respectively). I had an incident of horrible allergic reaction to clinique’s acne line back when i was 16. My entire face and neck itched all night the first night I used it but it didn’t occur to me to get up to check and wash it off. I got up the next morning and couldn’t recognize myself in the mirror. Truly a horrifying experience for a teenage girl. My face had swollen to 3x its size and I could barely see because my eyes were that swollen. Took 4 full days to return to normal, when I walked back to the Macy’s clinique counter and returned the set. The lady didn’t believe me. I should’ve taken a picture. But I was so traumatized at the time I didn’t want to ever look back at myself looking like that–so no photos to commemorate the occasion unfortunately. *sigh… I have since never touched another clinique skincare or makeup product. I still do not know exactly what ingredient caused the allergic reaction.
My current favorite primer is the Hourglass Mineral Veil.
Dying to purchase the dior LE highlighter this weekend!
I’ve never made a snow angel, maybe I should go out in this snow storm Jonas!
Oh, I remember taking 10 minutes to turn over in bed! The last 6 weeks of my pregnancy felt longer than the first and second trimester put together! But it’s all worth it in the end….because eventually you get a beautiful bundle of joy AND your body back 😉
I had an allergic reaction to a foundation. It my skin irritated, swollen and lizard-textured!
I have had plenty of allergic reactions from skin care and makeup.
Karen,
A snow angel?! Today in Connecticut?! Probably not cause we are getting a minimum of TWELVE inches of snow!
My favorite primer right now is the becca backlighting primer❤❤❤
There are so many new things I want from Sephora!!!
current favorite primer is hourglass, because my skin is sooooo dry! happy wkd everyone.
Happy Saturday.
I’ve got quite a few likes in the primer department but my all time favorite is the Mehron Barrier Spray. That stuff is like magic in a bottle. I spray it on before and after mu application, but you have to be careful w/ it and you don’t spray it directly at your face.
Its been a very long time since I made a snow angel? No snow here in Texas.
Ooh… I’d have to say my favorite primer is the Smashbox Photo Finish primer just because of how smooth it blends and how my foundation glides on over it. Thanks again for the generous giveaway xx
Sometimes I like to wear white eyeliner in my waterline to make my eyes appear larger.
One of my most favorite primers is from Miracle Skin Transformer. The product delivers what it promises despite the funky name. I’m glad I tried their line of facial products because they really are a miracle.
I’d love this so I can buy more of my favorite brand, Tarte 🙂 I also buy from their website but they have terrible customer service :/
I just love your blog, your makeup posts have really guided me to be more adventurous in my make up routine. White eyeliner, is that ever supposed to be truly worn?
Never had an allergic reaction to a product, but always afraid I’m gonna when I try something new 🙁
I’m jealous of people that have seen the aurora borealis! I’d absolutely love too. I kind of want to go outside right now and make a snow angel/snowman in this foot of snow but…then I remember how cold that’d be!
Despite the fact that it’s still snowing here, I don’t think I’ll be venturing outside to make a snow angel! Brrr! I think the last time I made one was when I was around 6…
I was named after the Aurora Borealis! I’ve only seen it once, and it was amazing. I’m honored to be named after something so beautiful.
My favorite primer is the benefit porefessional 🙂
Have you ever seen the Aurora Borealis?
I live in Norway but not in northern Norway but just sometimes we can see it here too.But not often at all..
Have you ever made a snow angel?
Yes many many times :)))
Yesterday was the election of the carnival King on the island.
who wins is going to sing his song during the carnival parade.
The election always takes place in a festival center near our house.
Yesterday besides the noise they make they threw fireworks too.
So our Doggies had to sleep in our bedroom. I don’t think they are aware of the whole pregnancy thing. They wanted to jump one me a few times last night. but I have to take them off to, My belly is making gas in it gives me pain and gives me back pain too.
Karen,
They say that when you’re pregnant with a girl, she steals your looks, but that certainly is not the case with you! You’re positively glowing!
Ann
I have a book on the Aurora Borealis and would love to see it one day!
I am currently stuck inside my house due to the snowstorm, but it is the first snow all winter! It does look beautiful
I’m ALWAYS breaking the NYX matte lip creams!
I am ashamed/not ashamed to admit I wore white eyeliner in the inside corner of my eyes for far too many years. Now I go for a nude liner to brighten that area
i love the Bare Minerals prime time primer.
Never do I wear white liner or white eyeshadow!! White is just too harsh and unnatural. I do like a champagne liner on the insides of my eyes or a champagne shadow under my brows for a highlight!
Hourglass mineral veil! Can’t find one I love more.
Favorite blush of all time is Lorac Desire. It’s been discontinued. Any dupes out there? I’d love the Sephora GC to try out a new blush!!!!
My current favorite primer is the Tarte BB Primer in Fair. Never used to like silicone-like primers, but this one’s working for me!
Hasn’t snowed in a while here…a tstorm is on its way tho.
Thanks for thr giveaway!!
Still searching for an effective eye cream against my dark circles T_____T
I love sephora &i shop there weeklY. Today i bought the moonshadow palette !
I’ve tried so many times to wear white or beige eyeliner but I just can’t pull it off! I see so many beauty gurus rocking it but somehow it always looks weird on me 🙁
I love Dr Brandt Pores No More Primer! My fav right now!
I’ve totally been obsessed with nivea sensitive shave balm for men as a primer, got 3oz for $8, can’t beat the stuff!
Oh, I’ve made a snow angel before, but it’s been a while. My son made one the other day and I almost got down in the snow and made one with him… until I decided I didn’t want to get wet and cold.
Omg I just discovered dr Brandt pores no more primer…amazing!
Omg, when it comes to breaking product… My freakin’ Brow Wiz keeps breaking. Every time I open it, a new piece flies out and I can’t find it to stick it back in. It was new a month ago and I’m left with one tiny broken piece stuck in there. It must have been shattered when I bought it 🙁
I made snow angels when I was little!
Does seeing the Aurora Borealis on Youtube count?

Had an AWFUL reaction to Clinique’s Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Cream with the SolarSmart technology. Tried it the summer before last, and wound up with red welts and burns all over my face! I’ve used Clinique 25+ years and have never had a problem so I was surprised.
In other news, IT’S STILL SNOWING and I’m going to be buried . . .
Do you ever wear white eyeshadow or eyeliner? Nope, never liked it.
Believe it or not, Origins is not my friend. It tears my face up! 🙁
Every time I get on the computer my cat, Jon Snow, walks across the keyboard. He jumps before I can grab him and lands usually on a function key and screws up my browser. The other day he rotated everything 25 degrees. I had to get on my phone to figure out how to undo it. Sometimes I can grab him before he climbs up, it doesn’t matter though. I put him down, he jumps back up. He’s just determined to be the center of attention so I feel your pain.
Living in Michigan and other Midwest states, I have made tons of snow angels over the years. On another note, I had a spinal fusion last year and know about reaching for items as I wasn’t to stretch or bend. My hubby purchased me a grabber (the item you so cleverly described) at a medical supply store. Pretty cheap too!! So get thee to a medical supply store my friend. It also helped when I dropped a sock behind the washer last week. Ha!
i always keep breaking my becca highlighters i swear theyre so delicate and it casts a pall on the rest of my day , i mourn it like a dead goldfish
primer im loving is mixing mufe color correct primer and hourglass which is sooo expensive but i have travel size and its lasting a good bit
I’ve never seen the Aurora Borealis! 🙁
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer is my current favorite one.
Hi Karen, I know this is not an answer to the questions above but do you know of anything to cover a tattoo so it won’t get on your clothes? I am getting married and I don’t want my tattoo showing but it is right under where the strap of my dress will be. I am going to cover it with dermablend but if you know of any product that would stop it from getting on my dress that would be awesome 🙂 Thanks!
In the north east, so we just got almost two feet of snow. About to go out and make a snow man! Maybe some snow angels, too.
Once I had a horribly itchy rash from a rose -scented deodorant. It took me days to figure out what it was.
Looks like Tab can’t wait to play with the baby girl. I hope it’s all going fine. How I would love to see northern light.
Hi! I’m really curious to try the Nivea men post shave balm as a primer. I just ordered the mufe step 1 smoothing and mattifying primer.
Thanks for the giveaway
I grew up in Minneapolis, MN, so used to make lots of snow angels when I was younger 🙂
What’s your current favorite primer? Urban Decay primer!
I have seen the Aurora Borealis when I lived in Sweden. I went up to the very North of Sweden to ski or try to and there it was! So amazing!
NYX Honey Dew Me Up is awesome! And budget friendly 🙂
I made snow angels a lot when I was younger!
I’m currently testing out Natasha Denona’s hydrating primer–I don’t know how I feel about it yet re:how good it is at keeping your makeup on but I do like how hydrating it is! You should check out her entire line and tell us how you like it!
I LOVE making snow angels with my daughters! Wish we had gotten enough snow to make some. 🙂 Not even an inch here in my neck of the woods.
What’s your current favorite primer? Benefit’s Porefessional.
I have never tried white eyeliner or eyeshadow
The primer I’ve been loving lately is the Becca Backlight. It gives the most natural glow to the skin.
Happy Caturday! 🙂
Aww, I bought one of those shark pincer thingies for my son when he was a youngster – I think he still has it somewhere in his closet (which needs to be desperately cleaned out – something I’m dreading to do, like taxes hehe). :/
Man, I would LOVE to see the Aurora Borealis. Too bad we can’t see it in the Bay Area. Sounds like a trip to Canada is on order. 🙂
I love to wear white and nude eyeliner in my waterline! I hope the rest of your pregnancy flies by!
Oh, Mt. Karen cracks me up! When I was pregnant my cat always wanted to lay across my belly – the first time my daughter really moved my cat jumped right off and stared suspiciously at my belly. (:
As a kid we made snow angels whenever possible…
I have seen the Aurora Borealis – very pretty and inspiring. Thanks for the chance!
I have so much trouble with eczema during the winter months. It makes it difficult to try new products!
I’ve never seen the aurora borealis!
I grew up in Minnesota. Snow angels are one of the first things we learn to do with snow!

White eyeshadow is too harsh for me, but a bit of white eyeliner can really open up my eyes.
I got a mascara on sale not too long ago and my eyelids ended up completely swollen.
You’d think we would have enough snow all winter long to make snow angels but this year is the first in many where we have some real snow! I plan to do the angels and a little snow kitten, an homage to our dearest Tabs!
We have e.l.f. here but they release very few of the products you have in the US and we can’t order from the US page so there are many exciting products we can’t get here BUT the e.l.f. Poreless Face Primer has recently arrived and I am LOVING it on a big scale. With or without bb cream or foundation it gives a smooth, fresh look and fills in fine lines and minimizes appearance of pores just like it says it does. The price is not a cheap as the US but still the cheapest we can get in EU, and of course no animal testing, a win-win all around.
I’m hoping to win the Sephora gift certificate. I actually had returns I was going to make to Sephora yesterday (was 2 blocks away) when the snow came early and hard on Friday (DC area). It was so slippery just walking 10 feet, I decided to catch a rare available taxi (SUV) and went home (wise, but missed the returns and shopping I thought I’d get to before the storm started). Now I’m at the bottom of a hill that won’t be plowed for days – in the middle of a blizzard – with 2 feet of snow so far (DC area). Very grateful to still have power – and using the time to get things done (and play with makeup). My family just got out of town in time to go to Disneyworld. I’m thrilled they’re having a good time. Once we’re plowed out, I’ll be heading to Sephora and Bloomie’s for holiday returns (and maybe be lucky enough to have a gift certificate to spend).
I hope everybody is warm and safe.
Karen – I remember your stage of pregnancy. I tell my daughter that it’s like having a bowling ball in your stomach – and you have to hoist it to even roll over in bed.
I love making snow angels!
And my current fave makeup primer is Laura Geller’s Spackle…
I’ve never seen the Aurora Borealis. Would love to, though.
I do wear white eyeliner sometimes, but only on the waterline, so that it helps brighten my eyes.
I never see the Aurora Borealis, but i would love to see it in person. My son always love to make snow angel
I am always allergic to purple or silver-purple Maybelline shadows and sometimes purple shadows from other brands. Love the look of purple shadow with my pale blue eyes and dark red hair (doesn’t seem as harsh as a dark grey or navy against my eyes) but finding the perfect dark aubergine-plum-silver lilac combo has been my holy grail for years! Bare minerals came close with a dark purple shadow that I doubled as a liner but that’s as close as I’ve come.
My current favorite primer is Too Faced Hangover. Love how hydrating it is.
I’ve never seen the Aurora Borealis, but I would love to! My aunt took a trip to a resort in Alaska where you can sit in hot springs and watch the aurora, that sounded pretty sweet.
I have 3 favorite primers: the Cover FX mattifying anti-acne, their under eye primer and also the Nivea shave balm mentioned above. You look beautiful, pregnancy definitely suits you
I just made a snow angel last year with my niece. The things you do for those you love… (:
I’ve been using and liking Cover FX Mattifying Primer for the past year or so.
My favorite primer is Smashbox photo finish. I’m currently using the original clear one but I also love the green one too.
Oh yes i’ve had bad reactions to some make up products. mostly those liquid liners, they sometimes have a burning sensation
Man, I wish it were snowing, but I live in Florida, sooooo, no snow for me, and I’ve never seen the Aurora Borealis.
Favorite primer right now is Hourglass Mineral Veil. Seriously, that stuff is the bees’ leg joints.
We survived our first week home alone with the 2.5 year old and 1 month old! Also had his 1 month doctor visit and he’s growing great! The doctor said it looks like he’s going to be trying to “keep up” with his brother since he’s so strong on his tummy and always trying to crawl down to the good stuff when holding him upright. Colin was a little slower to get mobile, so it should be interesting to see how Erik turns out. 🙂

Hi Karen, the fact that you’ve been rolling around a lot means the coming of your baby girl is almost here! Hang in there. Anyway to answer one of your questions, yes I’ve made a lot of snow angels especially when I fell down a lot trying to learn how to ski. Needless to say I don’t go skiing anymore.
Hello all! Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I had a bad reaction to the Yes to Blueberries wipes, and was sadly allergic to the fragrance in Chanel’s Vitalumiere Velvet. Sad face.
Thanks for another giveaway, Karen! 🙂
I have never worn white eyeliner, but I wore blue eyeliner for two years!
I don’t use primer because my Paula’s Choice Vitamin C serum is soooo hydrating and smoothing already. That’s a one-step moisturizer and primer for me.
Philly girl here and we are buried! Thankful that we can just bunker down for the weekend…minus those shovel rotations!
I am still searching for a great primer. I’m oily skinned but find that matte primers tend to not sit well on my face 🙁
greetings from chicago where the sun is shining.
my favorite primer is any primer i remember to apply.
thanks for this chance
I’ve made tons of snow angels, being from Northern Michigan!
Allergic reactions, I’ve had a number of them, the most memorable being to Philosophy Purity Made Simple (hives all over) and La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo (bumpy red skin).
I would happily sit up to an hour just to apply the fiercest blackest eyeliner even if it means being late to work! Ha
I have seen the aurora borealis when one time my family and I had to take a different route to Canada because of lane closures due to snow. It was unbelievably pretty from what I saw which wasn’t that much of it.
And I’ve made snow angels – should probably do it again when it stops snowing 😀
I’ve seen the Northern Lights very faintly once or twice. And I’m always breaking my MAC Blot Powder compacts towards the end when I’ve hit pan!
My favorite primer right now would be the superprimer from Clinique (the universal one) it works wonder to keep my oil undercontrol!
I have seen a little glimpse of Aurora Borealis while I was studying abroad in Northern Ireland. My friends and I were walking to the train station one night and we saw that the sky was tinted green and purple. We were really confused, but we looked it up and found out that Belfast is far enough North to see the Northern Lights! It was really neat, though it wasn’t as visible if we would have traveled to Scandinavia.
Mt. Karen…LOL! AWW Tabs us bonding w his sis!
The Aurora Boreal is the closest thing to Heaven I have seen! Breathtaking!
Fave primer and the only one that hasn’t broken me out is BECCA Backlight Primer. I think those are my 3 favorite words!
I always break my nails and phones! :-/
Snow angrls…yes! Until last year my baby niece Said I had a bigger angel bum than her!! :-D.
My all time worse break out was with Practive…go figure??
Fortunately, I’ve never had an actual allergic reaction to any makeup or skincare products, but my rosacea and sensitive skin react negatively to fragrances and chemical sunscreens. That means that I can’t use a lot of products on the market!
I grew up in upstate NY so had lots of opportunities to make snow angels. I can’t remember the last time I made one now that I live in the south!
I’m torn between the nars radiant concealer or bobbi brown stick foundation…
Oh, Karen. I love your blog…having a bad day and reading about tabs always cheers me up 🙂
I haven’t been allergic to any products but I have had a lot of products make me break out :(. And yes I’ve made a lot of snow angels when I was younger, considering I’m from Chicago :)). I don’t have a favorite primer but so far I think I like Tarte’s primer the best.. I like that it’s non-greasy.
Enjoy the weekend Karen!

we’ve gotten to see the Auroa Borealis a couple times. so fascinating! I got terrible hi es from a moisturizer once which was sad because I had really liked it up to that point.
It is 60 degrees here in Southern California and I’m freezing. LOL Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.

I am under 20 feet of snow today and loving it!!! ???
I’m still devoted to Laura mercier oil free primer!
I spent the day shoveling 24 inches ofsnow. Ready for a hot bath!
I live in Ohio so I get to make snow angels half the year!
Never saw Aurora Borealis, yet…
I have seen the aurora borealis! It’s very rare to see it in Michigan, but it has happened.
I haven’t worn white eyeliner or eyeshadow but everytime I see it on someone I always say…oooh I should try that 🙂 maybe one day I will
I wear white eyeliner
I just found out today that my husband and I are expecting our first child! Eek!
Happy Saturday! No snow in Portland, thank goodness. Yesterday was sunny and 61F. Today is in the 50s with scattered showers. Beats blizzards any day!
I’m terribly allergic to most mascaras. Most lip products with cinnamon oil make my lips itch like crazy.
I’m actually suffering from an allergic reaction as we speak!! I got some foundation samples last week, and tried several products from my birchbox, and woke up with a horrible rash on one side of my face that hasn’t gone away for a week!! Since I tried so many products the week before, I have no idea which is the culprit 🙁
I’ve seen the Aurora Borealis in Northern New Hampshire — it was breathtaking!
I used to wear white eyeliner in middle school, so I have a hard time figuring out how to wear it now without feeling like I’m 14 again. Not my favorite time!
I keep breaking my Milani Bella eyeshadows 🙁
I grew up in Michigan and we frequently had snow days back then. I can remember getting bundled up in a “snowsuit” and going outside and playing in the snow for hours with my brothers. Yes, it included snow angels.
My current favorite primer is the Napolean Perdis Auto-Pilot primer – it controls my oily grease monster of a face like no other! But it’s stupidly pricey, so I will probably go back to Mac’s prep and prime when I’m done but … It’s heaven!
I am always and forever breaking my phone case or screen cover
I’ve seen aurora borealis a generous amount of times! I’m lucky to live in Canada where we are far enough North to still see them! I saw the most vibrant occurrence of them I’ve ever seen in my life just a few days ago. Bright green and white dancing all over across the sky!
my snow angel does not come out like how it’s seen on tv
Yes, I’ve made a snow angel, but not for a very long time! I’m going to have to get on that haha.
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer 4 Life
Love snow angels!
Waiting for my Sephora delivery!
There is something in some lip products that make my lips feel itchy and dry, but I don’t know if that’s an allergic reaction. Probably more like a sensitivity. Antibiotics, however, make me break out in a rash of white heads.

White eye shadow, yes! Especially as a browbone or inner corner highlight. Products I always break- chanel nail polish caps, Tom ford nail polish brush(when you use the overcap to tighten, the force breaks the top of the brush. don’t do this!!!), and butter London Lippy Tinted Lip balms are too soft for the lipstick packaging, they need to be in a twist up tube because they always break.
Yes I have seen the Aurora Borealis!! Multiple times from an airplane!! It’s stunning and so hard to describe.
I have made a snow angel before, but it has been way too long!! 🙂
It’s on my bucket list to see the aurora borealis, I think it would be one of the most stunning things to ever see!
I have had allergic reactions to makeup, skincare, face products etc. I’m especially sensitive to purple eye products, but not all, which works out great since I have green eyes 😉 The worst reaction I’ve had was to the makeup geek duochrome shadows.
I can’t seem to find a primer that I like for very oily skin, I also haven’t tried a ton since they are pretty pricey.
I haven’t ever worn white eyeliner but I just bought a NYX one today to try out. Also I have to be careful with liquid foundations because most break me out
Oh, I always wanted a cat that was fond of jumping on my lap, or belly or whatever – a cuddling cat, anyways. Sure, I’m definitely not as attractive as Mt. Karen, but nevertheless… They can be a pain in the ***, though, when they get fixated on things, I feel you…
I got an allergic reaction to my lips a couple of months ago, I have so many lip products that I have no idea what caused it!
I can only wear white sparkly eyeshadow in the inner corners. I bought Dior’s Lune eyeshadow just to wear on the lid because I thought it would be awesome, but alone it looks really bad. However, it does work if mixed with MAC’s All That Glitters or as a sparkly cheek highlighter.
I have seen the Aurora a few times in various places around the world. I have never seen them out in full force though, even in Alaska. I never get that lucky!
Which bronzer is a must have?
Favorite primers: Benefit Porefessional for T-zone, Urban Decay Pore Perfecting for rest of face.
I love smashbox primer..
I have two little chubby (mostly fat) kitties at home. They just got put on a very strict diet to keep them alive and well for a really long time. Let’s just say that Garfield has nothing on these guys.
My favorite primer is a toss up between Too Faced Primed & Poreless and Benefits Porefessional. Everyone is the snow storms way be safe!!!
I would so love to see the northern lights. Never have.
Growing up in Pittsburgh, snow angels are a regular occurrence! (More so as kids!)
Thanks for making me smile, Karen! We’re squarely in the bullseye of the storm here just outside of DC. I’ve shoveled twice and haven’t seen my car in over a day. Waiting for the HOA to plow the lot before I try it. About 2′ of snow and counting….
my current favorite primer is the smashbox pore filling primer. it’s really good at filling in my pores and making my foundation last longer!
It makes me sad but no, I’ve never seen the Aurora Borealis. I hope to one day though ?
Yes i made a snow angel in the snow but it’s to cold to do that.
My favorite primer used to be the Benefit PoreFessional – until I recently tried the Make Up For Ever Skin Equalizer Primer in the Smoothing Primer (the black tube.) Best primer I’ve ever used. I use it in tandem with La Base from Lancôme which is a completely different texture and I find they work very well together if you have any extra large pores or pitted scars.
I like to use white eyeshadow along the outer wing of my eyeliner to help it stand out and I’m always putting a bit of white eyeshadow in the inner corner of my eyes!
The Tartelette Tease Palette looks so pretty!
Mt Karen, LOL too cute! My fav primer is a toss up between two brands that I don’t care for other than the primers. Benefit Porefessional and Lancome La Base Pro.
I live in Banff, Alberta and we see the Aurora Borealis all the time here. One night I was woken up by a super bright blue light beaming in my window. I looked out to make sure the aliens weren’t coming 😉 and saw that it was the Northern Lights. They aren’t usually intensely blue like that but I guess conditions were just right for a super blue beam of light. It lasted about 30 seconds and then went back to the normal less intense yellow/green.
I’ve never seen the northern lights, but I really hope I get to some day.
I grew up in New Hampshire, so I’ve made a ton of snow angels.
I wish to see the Aurora Borealis someday.
My favorite primer is Shiseido’s primer. Goes on smooth and oil free. Currently, I’m breaking in Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer as I’m moving away from Shiseido to try new products.
Now loving Clinique universal primer!
Hi Karen,
I just found your blog yesterday. I am going to try your regimen for chin acne. I am hoping this works. I have tried so many things. One thing that has helped with the cysts is evening primrose oil. Hoping for the best! Enjoy your weekend!
I really hope I get to visit Peru this year! I know that this isn’t super make-up related but I’ll add something it just to make it somewhat related. I hope to visit Peru(1st choice) & perhaps Europe this year. If I do visit Peru.. although.. it isn’t the main reason I want to go, it’d be interesting to see the cultural differences in “beauty” first hand in a foreign country. More than anything the beauty I want to see is the beauty of Machu Picchu 🙂
Seeing the Aurora Borealis in person is one of my life goals!
I’ve seen the northern lights a couple of times, but just the green ones. I’d love to see the sky filled with multi-coloured lights!!
Haven’t made snow angels for years. Maybe I should make one this year.
I’ve never seen the aurora borealis!
Washington DC has officially gotten 25 inches of snow…and it’s still coming down here! My roommates and I all went running out into the snow last night to make snow angels and dance on snowbanks (because grown ups can have fun too!). All the winter buzz has left me wanting to incorporate the snowy magic into my makeup routine- I have been using a white eyeliner under my eyes, a some of the magic greys and silver from my Naked Smokey, and finishing with some sparkly white shadow on the inner edges. Who knew icy makeup could be so glam? 🙂
I have a Sephora brand white sparkly jumbo eye liner – it’s only slightly lighter than my skin tone and I use it as a base for eyeshadow all the time.
We saw the Aurora Borealis once, about 10 years ago. It was awesome and amazing. We went around to all the neighbors making them come outside so they could see it, too.
I have been having great luck lately with using Black Radiance True Complexion Shine Control Primer first and following up with something more silicone-ish afterwards – right now it’s MAC Prep & Prime. The first primer keeps oil from breaking through and the second helps my makeup go on smooth and stay put!
Rachel recently posted … Destash update!
My favorite primer is the NYX Angel Veil primer! It makes my makeup last all day and doesn’t break out my sensitive dry skin.
I would love to see the aurora borealis
My favourite primer lately is the porefessional by benefit 🙂
I often wear frosty white eyeshadow on the inner half of my lid with another color (usually teal, blue or purple) on the outer half and crease in the winter.
My favorite primer is MUFE’s redness corrected primer.
My favorite primer is definitely the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. So good!
I love to use the Too Faced hangover RX primer all over as a moisturizer, then fill in the pores in the t-zone with a second primer. My current fave for that is the the Makeup Forever smoothing primer. This combo leaves me moisturized, smooth, matte, poreless, and helps with oil control!
I haved lived in Canada for years, and it cold enough that we get snow, so I have made snow angel in my younger years.
I love the look of white eyeliner on the upper lid on ladies with your complexion, Karen. I’ve seen some wear that with mascara alone and it looks like a great fast-makeup look! I’ve tried it on myself but I’m very fair so it hardly shows at all. But I love wearing white eye shadow base before I apply eye shadow. I let a little of the base show at the top and it makes a nice highlight, as well as protect my shadow from creasing.
I made a snow angel with my daughter in the snow last week it was fun 🙂
I used to love making snow angels when I was a little girl! Thinking about it makes me want to go make one now, but I may get lost in the 2 feet of snow we currently have!
I sometimes use white eyeshadow for a real defined brow highlight, but other than that, I am not a fan!
My favorite primer is the Hourglass Mineral Veil! Kind of hilarious because I use drugstore foundation. xD
I’ve never seen the aurora borealis but I can only imagine at its beauty!
I’ve never seen the Aurora Borealis but it is definitely on my bucket list.
I had a bad reaction from one of the Glam Glow masks (the green one). It’s weird because my skin isn’t sensitive and I barely break out. All of a sudden, when I try this out, I started getting rough patches and little bumps and break outs. Everyone raves about Glam Glow.. I guess it just isn’t for me. 🙁
I wish there was snow in California so I can make snow angels. Though I’m sure that I would rather stay indoors if that ever happens XD
I love Bite Beauty Lipsticks and Agave Lip Balm. But, whenever I wear it the next day my lips are red, sore and beginning to flake. So disappointing.
I’m so longing to see snow someday! I wanna make a snowkitty ❤️
Recently tried the Anastasia Brow Definer. Consistency was impressive, however, I am not much of a fan of the triangular shape. Maybe I just need to get used to it.
I’ve only recently become acquainted with your blog and YouTube channel but I must say that you have quickly become a favorite due to your quirky personality. I hope that your pregnancy is going well and don’t bother trying to get your cat to stop cuddling with you. Cats are persistent and, when they want to cuddle, no force on earth will stop them. In my case, what happens is that my cat just magically appears on my lap and no amount of shoving or pleading will get her to move until she’s darn well ready.
A product I’m always breaking is my face powder!!!
Hello! I need to get a blush.
Oh boy, a few of my friends swear by the Olay Total Effects daily cream so I bought it done day to try out. Its not cheap either for a cream that you can buy at your local supermarket. Anyway, I tried it for 3 days and my skin broke out so bad that it only cleared with Acne medication! It took close to 4-5 months to completely clear up. I’m not sure what it was in it that caused my skin to flare up, but since then, I stay clear of Olay.
Yup, I wear white eyeliner and eyeshadow all the time! Sometimes I go for nude, but those pencils are almost always darker than my skin tone and don’t really make much of a difference. Being as pale as I am, I’m able to use white for more of a brightening effect than a statement.
I have made many snow angels.
I’ve only ever seen pictures of the Aurora Borealis, but I’d love to see it in person some day.
I love wearing deep wine red lipstick.
One day I will see the aurora borealis.
Really liking the Clinique superprimer universal face primer, it’s just a lovely basic primer that’s not silicone based and is slightly hydrating, and it’s fragrance free!
For the days when I wanna look extra glowy, I love the L’oreal magic lumi light infusing primer, it gives you dewy skin without being the least bit shimemry.
The snow is pretty outside.
I bought some skin care from The Body Shop in US. At the first try, my whole face was swollen, my family doctor hard recognized me ! The Body Shop US, after 2 times calling me, they kept silent ever since !
I have seen the Aurora Borealis a couple of times, it’s really beautiful 🙂
Hi Karen
I haven’t seen the Aurora Borealis and it is in my bucket list. And living in a tropical country i have never even seen snow before. 🙁
Since I moved to southern Ontario I haven’t seen the Aurora Borealis but when I was living in NOrthern Ontario I could see them most nights in the winter, they are just beautiful. I hope you get to see them some time. And yes, I have made snow angels, snowman, and snow forts!
Would love to see the aurora borealis! It’s so pretty on videos. It must be amazing to see it for real.
Currently studying for my last exam tomorrow, so excited I’m almost done! Have a nice day Karen!
Yeah we used to love making snow angels as kids 😀
I always have allergic reaction when i use cheap cosmetics!!!
I’m allergic to any product containing sesame seed oil. Not a pretty sight!
Pregnancy is agreeing with you – you look fantastic! Well wishes to you, baby G, and Tab-ilicious!
Hi Karen,
My current primer is Smashbox – but I have tried the MUFE Step One for oil control – and I am returning it – I really did not like it. It made my skin feel awful. I’m kind of new to primers I’ve not used many. I actually wrote and asked you about them, but I never got a reply.
I have had a reaction to make up – my favorite concealer the Fit Me ones, they make my under eye area sting like mad. Really bums me out – I’d used them for several months and loved them, and all of the sudden — they start irritating me. I’m using Master Conceal now by Mabelline – that I saw was recommended by different girls on Youtube. I’m going to try the Sephoria ones as soon as I get the money.
We didn’t get much snow, but ice….treacherous !!!!
Hi Karen, I have a very sensitive skin so I have to be careful when I buy new skincare products, or cheap cosmetics…
fave primer- i keep trying them and they keep breaking me out. the only one that didn’t was something from clinique that was a pore minimizer.
I would love to get to see the Aurora Borealis in all its splendor!
I tend to go through a revolving door of primers that I get through samples or beauty boxes. Right now I’ve got Benefit’s POREfessional, which I’ve used before and really like. It’s nude colored, light and not too silicone-y for my normal skin that get’s a little shiny around my T-zone sometimes.
I love making snow angel, I actually made one this morning 😛
Hi Karen! Love reading about you &Tabs? We got a little snow here in SC but it’s melted now. It was nice to have Friday off from work! I did make snow angels as a kid growing up in New England. I don’t have one favorite primer- I was looking through all mine and it seems like they all have the same main ingredients, so maybe that’s why. The only makeup product that really bothered me was an Anastasia mascara from back when they used to make mascara– it made my eyes itch and burn so bad.
I always break my MAC blushes!
I haven’t tried Hourglass yet.–I’d get a palette or one of the highlighting powders with this. My favorite snow activity is snowshoeing.–but I live about an hour east of you, so no snow.
Thanks for the chance at the gift card! I am using a Shiseido primer right now, it is quite nice. Ugh, my skin is so dry in the winter there is not enough moisturizers or primer to fix this! A little off topic, you are so pretty!!
My favorite primer now is from the MAC Fix & Prime series. I use it even when I’m going barefaced. I have tried using sunblock on top of it, but it works better if I use the sunblock before applying the primer.
I’ve always wanted to make an snow-angel, but when we finally do get some snow I always feel more comfy on the sofa with a book and a cup of tea. I suppose if I waved a little bit with my arms I’d make a sofa-angel which sounds rather neat, plus I wouldn’t get wet (unless I spill that tea).
I have worn white eyeliner on my eyes back when I was a teenager it was the thing to do. I remember wearing and winging it lol! Not so much now but those were the good old days of my first try with makeup.
I use Mac’s soft ochre as an eye primer, and Bareminerals face primer. No complaints on either for now.
Wow, yesterday’s blizzard was no joke. This morning we woke up to about 3 feet of snow. Now off to shovel.
I would love to see Aurora Borealis. Have you seen it?
Hey Karen,
Have you ever made a snow angel? I will today me & my 2.5 year old son Kaden.
What’s your current favorite primer? Smashbox photo finish primer.
One of my favorite products is the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector. I’m kind of obsessed actually. My favorite is Opal. Anyhow, as I am sure you know…they are soooooo fragile. I was heartbroken when I broke my first one. I ran out and got another immediately. I wouldn’t dare throw out the the broken one though.
I live in northern norway and I se the aurora borealis quite often. It’s magical. My favorite primes is too faced hangoverX because of the cold weather in norway.

Hi Karen, we are literally snowed in…I can’t wait for Spring! So yes, I have seen the aurora borealis, twice, and it is truly gorgeous. God does beautiful things in nature.
Hope you’re feeling well at this stage of your pregnancy. You’re almost there!
Current favorite primer is Cle de Peau. Bought it on a warehouse sale not expecting much (hey, not all high end brands deliver!), but it actually gets the job done and more!
No allergic reaction, but my skin is sensitive so I get a lot of redness when I use some products. I waste a lot of money on stuff I can’t use.
I would love to see the aurora borealis in person someday… That’s funny that we were just talking about that a few days ago. I’m using the NYX Photo Loving Primer right now.
I’m currently buried under the covers thanks to a very nasty sinus infection. But just read your Nars Matte Tinted Moisturizer review and am intrigued! My Sephora shopping list grows. 😉
I had a reaction to a product for the first time ever! It was a paper skin mask, and while it was on I just started to feel… warm, but not burning. Like it was an electric blanket! When I took it off my face was a mess, literally chemical burnt, like I had a terrible sunburn. My husband saw it and laughed and laughed, which I straight up don’t blame him for cause I looked awful. Took a coupla days before I looked normal again!
Thanks for the contest
You know….. Benefit’s High Beam is an extremely flattering highlighter for women with tan to darker skin tones…I guess you could call it…..an unsung hero! Congrats on your pregnancy!
My favorite primer at the moment is the Make Up For Ever Smoothing Primer…what a difference it has made! LOVE IT 🙂
Hi Karen, I recently had a mild reaction to the sephora gel concealer. I wanted to love it so bad. My favorite primer at the moment is the Becca backlight.
i’ve never worn white (or non-black) eyeliner
I’m staying indoors riding out blizzard 2016 while my fiancé digs us out of the snow! I am really into the CC cream by L’Occitan. I’ve been using it as a primer almost, and I really like the finish
I made snow angels all the time as a kid, but I haven’t in ages. I wish I had a snowsuit…!
Those NYX Jumbo Lip Pencils are so fragile! I’ve had to replace the Candy Apple one TWICE because it rolled off a table/counter, hit the floor (once on carpet) & became unsuitable for use. Considering that color was rarely in stock at my local ULTA, you can imagine how unhappy I was.
I’ve tried white eyeliner on the lower waterline, but I prefer a nude color instead.
Happy weekend. I’m looking outside at 2 feet of snow. 🙂
I’ve only seen the Aurora Borealis once
I could just imagine Tabs trying to climb you. He probably just wants to be closer to BG and you :).
I have never been in snow to make a snow angel. I live on a little tropical island, where it’s almost always sunny. BUT I have worn both white eyeshadow and white eyeliner. I sometimes want to get really adventurous and sport a white cat eye, however been work and home, where will I really get to wear that? haha. Can we also talk about that fact that face powders are just too easy to break? Why do they just have the trickiest compacts to open that you end up struggling with and dropping too often for their own sakes…
I have never seen the Aurora Borealis, but I would really love to someday!! I have, however, made a snow angel! I could go make one right now, since we got 10.5 inches of snow yesterday 🙂
Seeing the northern lights is on my bucket list.
I’ve now been married for ten days! 🙂
I’m currently studying to get into uni majoring in physics witch is a really hard major and after my 8 hour study sessions I really enjoy getting on this blog and watching your video’s to get back in the beauty world.
I have seen the Aurora when I was little but it’s top of my bucket list to go to Iceland and hope to see it there!
I have seen the Northern lights, we went to Iceland for our honeymoon and one night drove up north away from the more populated area and were lucky enough to see them
I have never used white eyeshadow/eyeliner as makeup because of my skin tone (medium dark), it would look so fake haha
I wish I’ve seen the Aurora Borealis! That one is on my bucket list.
I feel like highlighters always break and it puts me off buying new ones 🙁 anyone know of a highlighter that doesn’t break?!
I like to wear white eyeliner on my waterline. It helps me look more awake! 🙂
I’m tired 😡
I have made plenty of snow angels and every now and then we get a glimpse of the northern lights.
my favorite primer right now is the original smashbox photofinish primer…its so good!
I want to try the Natasha Denona primer, but I’m waiting for Beautylish to carry her shadows in a couple weeks. Then I’ll snag some.
I just discovered your blog and I love especially since we have similar skin tones 🙂
I’ve never seen the Aurora Borealis, but when I was younger, I called it the Areola Borealis (and for quite some time), until someone corrected me. So embarrassing!
My favorite primer is the hourglass one. It is so expensive so I am now looking for a reasonably priced one that I can wear on the daily. I just purchased the nivea shave balm. Hopefully that will do the job for a daily wear primer.
Hi Karen! I love your blog! They are really fun to read and I really like referencing them before buying makeup palettes to get your insight!
I am currently loving the NARS creamy radiant concealer for my humongous eyebags. I have dry skin but it doesn’t crease and lasts all day even after the gym. *thumbs up* Also planning to get some light face coverage to even out my complexion and am trying to decide between the Laura mercier and NARS pure radiant tinted moisturizers. They both seem lovely!
I’ve never seen the aurora borealis
Tuesday’s my birthday and I could use a pick-me-up…
I seem to always be breaking my powders 🙁
I have tried white eyeliner
Hello! How are you feeling? Getting so close! Almost there! The last few weeks are so hard! So uncomfortable. And it does take forever to do anything. Turning over. Picking something up. Anything. I’ve started feeling uncomfortable too. 19 1/2 weeks now and I started having contractions yesterday. Yikes. I worked on my feet for 10 hours (coaching a robotics competition. So dorky but fun!) so I think I just over did it. They had me take three Motrin and sit on my butt the rest of the day (gladly) and I feel better today. I hope you are well and drying dry! Do you have a break in the rain yet?
I’ve never seen the northern lights, but I’ve always wanted to! My mom and I plan to travel to Europe to see them soon.
It’s a good time for snow angels….
i switch it up when it comes to eyeliners but honestly my go to lately has been the mac chromographic pencil in nc15/nw20
but no makeup this weekend because I kept making snow angels 🙂
I am currently looking for a new tinted moisturizer since I am almost running out of my Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturizer. I watched your Nars Velvet Matte skin demo and read more about the product on your post. I thought your post was very insightful, and the product looked so well on you! Now, I think I’m going to buy this product! Also, I am currently liking pores no more pore primer from Dr. Brandt!
It’s a winter wonderland.
Have you ever seen the Aurora Borealis? No, but it’s on my bucket list.
Have you ever made a snow angel? Yes. Growing up in Minnesota, I think it’s obligatory.
Do you ever wear white eyeshadow or eyeliner? I own a couple white eyeliners, but I can’t say I’ve ever done much more than try them on. I think I may have used them on the waterline occasionally.
A product (makeup or otherwise) that you’re always breaking? Twist up eyeliners. I think I press them too hard.
Have you ever had an allergic reaction to a piece of makeup or skincare? Nope, knock wood.
What’s your current favorite primer? I’m not really a primer person.
i make snow angels all the time. I always look forward to the first snowfall and jump right in!
Since I’m from Chicago, I’ve made many a snow angel.
Sunny and 69 degrees in AustinTX. I’m currently loving the Hourglass Veil mineral primer. Just makes my skin feel smooth. Last time I made a snow angel was three years ago in Colorado while dealing with mountain sickness!
Im always breaking my hand mirrors that I use to do my hair and makeup. Luckily i buy cheap ones!
My dinner was excellent.
I’ve always wanted to see the northern lights! I hope to someday.
I have never made a snow angel! Living in east and now south Texas, we dont get opportunities to enjoy the snow very often. When we do, it melts so fast or it sticks together like hard ice that it would be painful to try and make an angel or a snowball. One day though…one day…
Neutrogena Pink grapefruit face wash makes my skin go crazy, super dry and with little bumps so it’s a no no.

Welcome to the world of being pregnant my friend!!! I have several friends who absolutely loved being pregnant, however I was not included as one. And Tabs is just trying to show you his love for you dear…. Oh how I remember those days. Try to enjoy it, it only lasts for a moment.. It seems on looking back years later. Thanks so much for the giveaway.
i’ve never tried white eyeliner or eyeshadow. maybe one day!
My go-to primer has always been Benefit’s Porefessional since first sampling it about a year & a half ago..
I’ve yet to try out any of the Two Faced Bronzers or any of the Becca powders, but they’re definitely on my radar for purchase in the near future!
Currently Im using primer from UD I kinda like it.I’d prefer using nude eyeliner, white one i can’t pull it off & looks weird on tan skintone..this cold weather making me hungry all the time, seems i have to eat or snack every hour, urgh i feel so bloated now 😐
I just got my hands on a sample of the Hourglass veil primer and OMG it’s so nice! I also like using Clarins’ Beauty Flash Balm on days my skin is drier (aka all this winter), its lovely with or without makeup!

Haven’t made a snow angel in a long, long time but did create some pretty impressive snow piles after shoveling out my car for 3 hours.
I have been using one of the newer makeup for ever primers. The green one. I like it because it isn’t heavy but really helps with redness.
One of my bucket list….see the Auroras Borealis!!!!
I made snow angels with my kiddo during the first (and currently only) storm of our season a few weeks ago. I don’t typically wear them but the last primer I tried was the BECCA Ever-Matte and I hated it – pilling galore on me!
I came soooo close to being able to see the Northern Lights- literally a few towns over!
I stocked up on dry shampoo today!
Love the two faced hangover primer!! So hydrating in the winter
Unfortunately, my only experiences with the Aurora Borealis is through literary depictions and photographs. I would love to someday get to experience it though!
I wish to see the Aurora Beorealis someday!!! Have a great weekend!
I love Sephora brand cosmetics!!!!!
I use white eyeliner on my waterline. It makes my eyes huge and it’s incredibly important whenever I do a smoky eye.
I like Hourglass Mineral Primer.
Have you ever made a snow angel?
Yes! I just made my first snow angel today(I’m from SF, currently on the East Coast for school. I survived the blizzard!)!
This is my first comment on your page and I’m super excited! I really don’t know why it took this long lol but I love your reviews and only listen to your recommendations.
Have you ever seen the Aurora Borealis? — sure have!
Have you ever made a snow angel? – who hasnt?
Do you ever wear white eyeshadow or eyeliner? – nope
I like Laura Mercier radiance primer. It works well for my drier, dull skin.
Thanks for the chance! I personally love the Urban Decay primer as well as the one by Lorac! 🙂
I don’t think I’ve ever worn white eyeshadow, but I have used a white eyeliner in my lower inner rim to brighten my eyes up!
Sand Angels only here in Florida 😀
Always wanted to try the white eyeliner trick but I always forget! Will definitely try next time if I remember
UD anti aging is my favorite primer ever
I’ve never seen the aurora in my life in person. Only videos.
I tried making a snow angel once…then I went inside because it was cold and I was stupid lol
I’ve used white before. I was trying to make my eyes seem bigger and more poppy 🙂
My favorite primer is the illuminating one from Pixi but I can’t justify the cost!
I love Mac painterly paint pot as an eye primer, thank you for the chance to win! 🙂
Seeing the northern lights is number 1 on mine and my husbands bucket list!
I bought a primer but I haven’t used it yet.
I really want to see the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis.
My favorite primer is the IPKN Radiant primer!
Congratulations!!! I love your blog!
I am liking the elf brand primers.
I have been loving the MUFE Nourishing Primer ever since i picked it up at IMATS!! It’s definitely a MUST HAVE!
When I was younger, I used to get a decent amount of snow every winter and I loved making snow angels.
I definitely need to invest in some primers both eye and face primers. I never knew if they were worth it because I never saw a huge enough difference but maybe I need to try more and test them out for longer.
Hi, sneaking in at work to say HI!!
Walking around Paris last summer was an unforgettable adventure, but you can create one here at home with bold lipsticks such as MAC Matte Royal, Kat Von D Echo or Poe, and Ardency Inn Black is Blue. Feeling blue doesn’t have to mean a bad thing!
Ive never made a snow angle!
I have seen the aurora boralis!
Hii karen.. i’m always breaking my pressed powder compacts! Boohoo.. wat can i do to fix it?? I shud probably google that question. . Hmmm..
I’m really enjoying the Laura Geller Spackle Hydrating Primer. It’s really moisturizing and adds a bit of glow to my dry winter skin.
Here is a comment because I’ve been looking into getting one of the Hourglass blushes. I think maybe it’s time to see if higher price really does equal higher quality in this case. Hope you and yours are stellar! 🙂
I tried the white-liner-on-the-waterline trick once; it didn’t bowl me over. What works better is to carefully line the waterline with a waterproof concealer. Wow, I’m awake!
Love to you & Tabs!
Maren recently posted … What would Steve Jobs or Napoleon say about Amazon’s workplace culture?
I grew up on the Mississippi gulf coast so I didn’t see snow for the first time until I went to Washington,DC for college. I was so excited to make a snow angel, have a snowball fight and make snow ice cream that first day. By the end of the winter and multiple slips on ice, I was ready for the spring.
Had a horrible reaction to cetaphil face wash. It felt like my skin was peeling off and burned so bad. I imagine its what washing your face with acid would feel like. It was returned promptly.
I use to love making snow angels when I was a kid, but now that I am older I don’t do it because I am a cold wussy.
My favorite primer is the Becca Backlight Priming Filter. It makes my dry skin look nice and glowy!
I love white eyeshadow! It makes a nice base for brighter colors.
I have been pregnant three times! I feel for you! I am always breaking wine glasses and not when I’m even drinking it.
The overacheiver in me is going to attempt to hit all of your suggested topics:
Your comment can be about anything at all, but here are some ideas if you’re stuck:
Have you ever seen the Aurora Borealis? Not thus far, but it’s definitely a bucket list goal. Too gorgeous to not experience in person.
Have you ever made a snow angel? Absolutely!!! As a NY girl it’s an institution when there’s beautiful untouched powder like the ton we got yesterday. Last time I made one was the blizzard of 1996 when I was in JHS.
Do you ever wear white eyeshadow or eyeliner? I tried the whole white eyeliner thing back in the early 2000’s, but I thought I looked constantly surprised so it didn’t stick.
A product (makeup or otherwise) that you’re always breaking? Always breaking brow pencils. I press to darn hard and whoops.
Have you ever had an allergic reaction to a piece of makeup or skincare? OMG. Can we just say I realized I was allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide in the most horrible fashion when trying Proactive. I broke out in a rash all over my face that took two weeks to heal and resembled the mumps, or so I was told. Most recently I developed a hive as soon as I applied the KVD Lock It Foundation which made me uber sad.?
What’s your current favorite primer? I’m currently liking the tiny sample of the MUFE Skin Equalizer better than my stand by Laura Mercier Oil-Free Primer. Still in search of the “perfect” one.
I am allergic to purple eye makeup. Boo!!
Having lived on the Canadian prairies, I have seen the Aurora Borealis several times at different times of the year.
I saw the Northern Lights on my way to a sports tournament. It was a great weekend.
I’ve recently been using a green primer I got from Korea and it’s been working so well with the redness in my skin.
I’ve never gotten to make a snow angel because I’m from South Carolina where we never get snow
I have seen the northern lights! In fact, one of my favorite teenage memories is sitting in a baseball outfield with a close friend and watching them for hours.
My allergic reaction was caused by my favorite foundation from Chanel. It’s the Perfection Luimere Velvet foundation. I love the finish of it, the packaging, and pretty much everything except that it gives me small bumps on my face the day after wear. Very sad. I ended up giving it to my boyfriend’s mom for her to try.
I don’t always break makeup, but I have had a few cracked powders go everywhere in my makeup bag.
I’ve never worn white eyeliner, but I think it looks really cool on other people. I did buy a white jumbo eye pencil, like a year ago, but never had the guts to try it.
I’ve never seen de aurora borealis, except on TV. I would loooove to see it.
I have extremely bad luck with Phisicians Formula Happy Booster powder. I’ve broken two of them!!! and it’s the only product I’ve ever broken. So sad when I have to purchase it overseas.
I have always wanted to watch the Aurora Borealis and enjoy the cool weather as where I come from is extremely humid and hot throughout the year.
One makeup product I’m always breaking has got to be Sephora’s Smoothing primer cos it’s so fragile and I’m always so clumsy.
I once had a horrible allergic reaction to one of Maybelline’s foundations. My face was all red, itchy and burned like hell. I had to take it off at work (lookin’ goooood) But I think I just got a bad/old/faulty product. I contacted the customer service and they were really sweet and professional. I got a refund and a little present.
I use white eyeshadow as a brow highlight all the time! A little white eyeshadow on the lid, a light brown in the crease, and some winged eyeliner…classic beautiful!
I’ve never seen the aurora borealis, but would totally want to see one!
i have made a snow angel but its been a while , thanks for the idea i just might go outside and make one today 😛
Watching the Northern Lights is one of my biggest dreams!
Yes! We made snow angels yesterday (We have 17 inches of snow). It was my husbands first time making one (He’s from Arkansas), and of course my daughters first time (She just turned 2). It was so much fun!
Hi, Karen! You are in the home stretch now with Baby Girl! I know that feeling of being so uncomfortable and ready….but then a little anxious about all the change! My middle was a girl born in March, too! Out of my three, I think March was my favorite month to give birth. By the time I was up to start moving about the weather was warming up and we could take long walks outside! Enjoy these last weeks!
The aurora borealis is the number one thing on my bucket list to see. In my mind that is how I would ever get engaged if someone proposed under those glorious twinkling lights
I am in love with the Chanel primer Le Blanc which gives you a soft pinky glow and they discontinued it -happens all the time
How cool… To be able to see the Aurora borealis. Must be incredible. I hope some day i get to see it!
I am all about the Hourglass veil primer. Keeps my oil under control and makes my face feel all soft and pretty 🙂 I think it’s the best. However, for eye primers, surprisingly, I’m a fan of the e.l.f. eye primer!
And yes, I got to see the Aurora Borealis for the first time this winter when I was up in Labrador. It was amazing and incredibly surreal!
I actually just got out making snow angels with the kids on the weekend, for the first time since I was a child
No snow here. In fact, it’s unseasonably warm here in LA. While I don’t think I can take snowy weather, I do crave a real winter.
I’ve tried a white eyeliner, but it looked too stark against my skin.
•Have you ever had an allergic reaction to a piece of makeup or skincare? yes! That’s why I love Sephora–I can return the stuff that turns out to give me reactions!
Jojoba oil added to my foundation is my best kept secret for dewy flawless skin!
I tend to break the lids off of powder products, usually cheaper brands. But still it’s annoying!
Thanks for the FAB giveaway! I have seen the Aurora Borealis, but sadly only on tv I would love to see it in person.
I’ve never seen the Aurora Borealis, but I’d like to!
My current favorite primer is the Marc Jacobs Coconut Primer. It makes my skin feel soft and smooth and the packaging is great.
Sorry, entered my email wrong in the former comment.
My current favorite primer is the Marc Jacobs Coconut Primer. It makes my skin feel soft and smooth and the packaging is great.
I love the Rimmel London primer, and I’m a huge fan of the becca highlighter in moonstone. There isn’t any snow here in the UK but it is freezing cold.
I’ve made a snow angel once…I don’t plan on ever doing it again living in Florida! 50 degrees is freezing to us!
Do you ever wear white eyeshadow or eyeliner?
Usually on the corners of my eyes to make them pop!
My current favorite primer is the Laura Mercier Radiance Primer, a dry skin gals savior during these dry winter months. I say winter as in LA winter at 60 degrees… I know I know we’re spoiled brats lol.
Hey Karen,
Just watched your “5 things” video; love it! Those ambient powders feel amazing, but I felt like they were missing va-va-voom. I might be checking out the strobing powders!
Happy Monday! I’m currently loving the Milani eye shadow primer. It’s a great dupe for Too Faced Shadow Insurance.
I’ve really been liking Smashbox primer water lately.
Happy Monday!
I have never had an allergic reaction to any makeup or skincare (or hair product). I hate fragrances in makeup and skincare though, so I usually choose skincare for sensitive skin.
I’m just starting to become interested in make-up… shocking, I know ! What can I say? I’m a late bloomer : )
Love all kinds of lip gloss, I am obsessed !
Shoes, shoes, shoes … and more shoes ! Would like to see the aurora borealis too.
The OG Smashbox Photo Finish Primer rocks my world on a daily basis!
Anything that’s “mineral” baked will never last on my bathroom shelf. One fall and it’s history, sadly.
Growing up/living in Wisconsin for my whole life, I’ve made plenty of snow angels. The cutest thing lately for me is my dog going out and rolling on his back in the snow – we call it “making Conner-angels”!
My favorite makeup palette right now is the Lora Pro. I was never a fan of Lora until I bought this palette and it has the most amazing pigmentation I have ever seen.
Hey Karen! I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time, and I always enjoy how up to date you are with the trends and latest products. I love your swatches and attention to detail. I can’t wait to see all the products for this upcoming year. (: Have you seen the sneak peek for the new Too Faced Sweet Peaches Eyeshadow Palette?!? It’s definitely what I’m most excited for! (:
Me and my two sisters bond over make-up… a lot.
I’m visiting my sister in March (she moved to Australia 6 years ago, so we always try to keep in touch via WhatsApp and Skype). She’s getting married and so we’re all going over there, all the way from Canada. (I’ve never been on a plane before so wish me luck!) She usually comes to visit us every year or so. My other sister lives in Toronto, so I get to see her more often. Basically we always talk about make up to each other and we always purchase and try out new products after reading reviews first. We share our own thoughts and reviews with each other, which is really nice!! Then when we finally meet, we bring all of our new make up products that we liked and we try out each others (never mascaras though!) and if we end up liking it as well then we purchase it for ourselves!
But when we go to Sephora together… we pretty much go make-up crazy.
It’s a fun thing that we both do since i’m limited to how much I can talk about make-up with my friends (they don’t really care for it at all). Plus going on here and reading all the updates on make-up and the new spring collections are making me super excited!!
I once used a Cover Girl loose powder and immediately noticed about a million tiny bumps splashed across my forehead!! It was horrible and took a few days to disappear. Scary! Poor Tabs, he has to figure out where he fits in now! Thanks for your always entertaining blog! And Tabs updates and baby updates, of course! Have a great day!
I have been allergic to a few things.
The absolute worst time was years ago when I used Bath and Body Works Volumizing Coconut Lime and Verbena Shampoo and Conditioner. OMG scabs and pain! Something in there did not agree with me.
The funny thing is I use Bath and Body Works shower gels all the time with no problems.
unforunately I’ve had too many allergic reactions to both makeup and skincare! I actually learned that my skin is sensitive to treenuts through the process of trying to find some new skincare
my favorite primer right now is YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer. It makes my skin look amazing and it really makes my makeup last all day. It’s the first primer I’ve ever felt that I really need to use! Before I tried it, I thought primers were kind of a gimmick 🙂
that’s so what my cat would want to do. she sleeps on my chest every night curled up and sometimes wakes me up by licking my eyelids, which is super sweet, but…
i haven’t had an allergic reaction to anything, but my skin is sensitive so i’ve had all kinds of burning, itching reactions. bleh.
a product that I always break are those damn iPhone chargers! the protective coating breaks and then wires start sticking out, it’s a mess! (I guess I’m not the one physically breaking them, still counts though, right?!)
Yes I did one night See The Aurora Borealis way up north when I visiting Canada 15 years ago. It was as if the night sky was dancing in magic. It Was Beautiful Like Something Out Of A Dream 🙂
From one makeup and cat lover to another, my favourite (eyeshadow) primer is NARS smudge proof eyeshadow base!
I hope you have a super fabulous week!
I am currently loving the YSL Touché Eclat Blur Primer. It blurs and makes my skin ready for makeup.
Hi Karen!! My birthday is Saturday, I’m going to be 32 this year! For some reason I’m all mid-life crisis about it, I have been hoarding skincare including oils, masks, serums. Sephora is my favorite beauty destination, I would love a gift card to support my makeup/skincare habit! ?
Though I still use my MUFE primer for special occasions, I have been loving the Nivea post shave balm as a primer. Its like 6 bucks for over 3 oz and keeps my makeup in place for the whole day. It is almost holy grail worthy…if only it could minimize my pores!
Sometimes I wear a white shadow by Bobbi Brown along my brow bone. I want to say it’s called Alpine but I think I’m only thinking that because I’ve been wearing a lot of OPI’s Alpine polish since it’s winter up in here.
p.s. Tabs is just excited about Baby Girl coming soon and wants her to be comfortable with him so he’s trying to be close so she recognizes his purr when she arrives 🙂
Somehow I ended up with about 6 different samples of primers, so hopefully at this rate I’ll never have to buy one!
Yes, I usually white eyeliner and white eyeshadow, I have to wear white because I am Asian so my eyes are small and the white eyeliner enhances my eyes to a bigger effect lol
I have been using Hourglass primer but I think LM Radiance Primer is my all time fave!
I grew up in the Yukon, so I spent my whole childhood taking the Aurora Borealis for granted! As I got older, I started to appreciate the winter skies a lot more.
No, I don’t wear white eyeliner or eyeshadow, white is very unflattering on me unfortunately.
