What Was Your Last Major Makeup or Big Beauty Change?

June 11th, 2014 by Karen 35 Comments

#shorthairdontcare

Did you dye your hair a different color, ditch your signature red lips for pink, or set aside your neutral eyeshadows to focus more on brights?

Mine was chopping off 6 inches of hair last week! 🙂

How about you? What was your last major makeup or big beauty change?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Happy hump day.

Mine was… I can’t even remember! I am definitely stuck in a rut, beauty-wise… Sigh! I haven’t cut or colored my hair, my make-up is almost boring (almost, cause make-up to me is never really boring!), I don’t even have time to paint my nails lately…
I love seeing your changes though, and your new haircut looks lovely!
My life is pretty busy right now, I moved to a new house and I’m getting married in a little more than a month! So no time to revolutionize my make-up or hair… 🙂 When all this stuff is settled I’ll definitely get back to experimenting, I miss it soooo much!

Hi, Karen! My most recent beauty change has to be the make up. I don’t know if it’s going to benefit me, but I like the brand so far.

I was using Bobbi Brown’s Skin Foundation, but I wanted to try a brand that is more natural. I found Tarte, and I like it so far. I just started using it, so I haven’t noticed a difference to compare to Bobbi.

It doesn’t help that I’ve developed adult acne, so the transition isn’t fully fair to Tarte.

Loving the shorter locks on you 🙂 Do you feel lighter and fresher with the new do? 🙂

I think my biggest change recently was ditching matte skin and opting for glow. Despite it being summer and the weather turning lung-crushing humid, I don’t see mattifying primers or foundations in the lineup any time soon.

Isn’t a hair-cut such a weight lifter? You have a lot more hair than I do and even 1″ off of mine feels lighter.

I’m totally in love with your long bob!

My biggest beauty change lately is my hair colour. I’ve never had my hair lifted so light before, but I am loving my new caramel highlights. I almost feel more sassy with it! 🙂

I cut off 10 inches of long, luscious locks for a choppy, flirty shag cut! I love it!

My next makeup adventure will be to try MAC Face and Body Foundation. I’ve been using Studio Sculpt for years and need to expand. I have a tendency to find something I like and never experiment. Which is good and bad I guess.

My last good hair change was a couple of months ago when I got it cut to about collar bone length. It is now bra strap length again – my hair grows super fast. I’ve been toying with the idea of going for a Posh Spice type bob again or something more the length you got. My only hesitation is that anytime I’ve had shorter hair I tend to get very annoyed when I can’t easily put it up for exercise. It’s not so much losing the length that bugs me but just how much time extra I have to take when styling shorter lengths, especially since my hair texture is a lot like yours with some wave to it. Decisions, decisions hahaha. Your new cut looks great and like you can do a lot with it. You still have some length to play with and you shouldn’t need a million bobby pins to put it up, either.

I haven’t made a big beauty change in a while, so maybe I’m due. That said, my hair colorist and I decided I should go back to a brighter red rinse over my red-colored hair for the summer. Does that count? Love your new ‘do

Well, thanks to your site and the ‘Tube, I just bought the UD Electric palette and I. Am. Loving. IT! Dude! The colors really pop against my brown skin and they have pigment for days! And to paint the picture of how drastic a change this purchase is, I usually wear a combo of the Naked and/or Naked 3 palette daily- neutral smokey eyes. So this is a HUGE change for me, but I’m not afraid of color.

In fact, my stash was missing bright, bold, vivid, colors. Problem solved!

I cut around 4 inches of relaxed hair and went to my natural bush of curls in December. The short hair was a shock, but the ease of managing my hair now (fortunately my natural hair turns out to be easy) the much better condition is something I loved from the start. It’s grown down to my shoulders now, but because it’s curly it shrinks quite a bit. I have also lightened it about 2 tones (as much as it could without any bleach at all), but though I can see my face looks softer, my husband says “Now don’t expect anyone to go around commenting on your new hair colour.” LOLOL!
Fine by me, I get enough comments on the curls!! (All positive!)

I am ditching my Tarte foundation for Dr Jart BB.I have really oily skin so trying to keep things matte is just a waste of time. This will be my first BB cream and I was thinking about posting to your blog this morning anyway. Do people typically use a primer underneath a BB cream, or just set with powder? Or do I not use powder at all? I’m just worried about the BB melting off my face within a couple hours if I don’t do something.

I have gone to the world of bronzer!
I am quite pale and I usually feel more comfortable with just some blush on and maybe just the tiniiiiiest hint of bronzer, but lately I have been bronzing, contouring with it. The whole shebang!

I’m always looking for a change but I think the most drastic was last October. I went from my lt brown/blonde highlights to a dark red. I left 2 very blonde streaks underneath.

My plan is to be lighter in the summer (strawberry not blonde). I had a beautiful shade many years ago and I found out that I cannot duplicate it unless I go dark red in the autumn and cultivate it. LOL

So, right now my hair is a lighter shade of red and since the first time I’ve gotten a few more blonde streaks underneath. Each time I go I get a few more and I figure when I go next time (in a week or so) I’ll get even more. Not sure if I’ll touch the top of my head yet or not – I’ll leave that up to my stylist.

I did the craziest thing. After years of intense lips colors and heavier eye makeup, I ditched it all and went super neutral, natural, and bronzy for the summer. It’s really not a look I’ve ever done. So far, myself and everyone else is loving it on me.

Mine was a vow to wear sunscreen every day-! I know, I know, it’s practically a requirement, but I used to not wear any unless I was at the beach, and now I’m paying for it with freckles and spots.

I started coloring my hair again! It had been a few years and the gray around my temples was going from cute to just making my forehead look even more expansive. Not to mention the postpartum hair fall meant I had big tufts of gray 2in hairs flapping in the wind. It was a little much, haha. So I went whole hog and have gone with deep cherry red. Might scale back to a more coppery shade the time after next (I have another box of this k-razy deep auburn in waiting), but we’ll see! 😀 It’s messy and red is a pain in the rear to keep up since it fades so fast, but I like to match my hair to my freckles! 😉

I chopped off 10+ inches of hair to donate to Locks of Love a few months ago. Now I’m planning to lighten it to a dark blonde.
I get easily bored with my hair. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time in the past 7 years I’ve just chopped it all off and dyed it on a whim. The hairdresser is always amused when I walk in and say, yeah, let’s chop it off. It’s just hair. It grows back. 🙂

I’ve always been trying to pinpoint that one thing I’d like to change and I found it recently with Sephora’s sun kit this year. It’s called Dr. Brandt’s pores no more and it’s just a mattifier but it’s so awesome because I put it over my t-zone and it stays matte all day. I am even more excited about it how that it’s about to be summer. It just gives me that complete look I’ve been looking for….makes me happy!

Chopped 6ish inches off my hair so that it’s just below the chin and bleached it Marilyn Monroe blonde. LOVE IT.

Thinking I might need to start wearing some kind of face makeup outside of concealer – perhaps I’ll start with like a primer and no foundation… I’ve always hated foundation, tried a BB and didn’t like that either so I’m a little stuck on which way to go.
