Deep thoughts… If you could only use one piece of makeup today, what would it be? (And it has to be something real. Magical fairy dust doesn’t count.)
Once upon a time, I would’ve said “under-eye concealer!” because for years I believed that my dark circle situation rivaled Uncle Fester’s, but they aren’t that big of a deal for me anymore… (Looking back, I think I may have been making a mountain out of a molehill, but that’s a story for a different day.)
Now, I’d go with mascara — Wander Beauty Mile High Mascara to be exact.
A lash curl and length boost is makeup magic for my slightly hooded lids, because when my lashes are lifted and point up instead of down, my eyes look less droopy, and my eye sockets look deeper.
I think mascara even makes more of an impact than eyeliner or even eyeshadow.
And if I couldn’t pick a mascara for any reason (BOO), I’d opt for a pinkish nude matte lipstick that I could also use as a blush (and possibly even an impromptu eyeshadow).
How about you? If you could only use one piece of makeup today, what would it be?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

It’s been a few days since I responded to a post. I would say for me, it would be a tinted moisturizer with a decent SPF. This way, I get my sunscreen and a bit of coverage on my face. I haven’t been wearing makeup lately, call it laziness.
How was Connor’s birthday? Look forward to hearing from you.
Hi Jane,
First of all, happy belated birthday to your March baby! How did you guys celebrate? I hope you guys had fun!
Connor’s birthday was super low-key. It was kind of a last minute thing that we held at my parents house, just close family. I figure this is the last year we can do this sort of celebration; next year she’ll probably want to invite kids in her class and we’ll have to have a proper children’s birthday party somewhere!
Hmmm . . . Probably Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in “Romance”. It’s a soft, translucent, warm pink that looks good with an otherwise bare face. I frequently use it when I want something that looks natural and effortless without looking lifeless.
My initial thought was if I can use only one thing then I don’t want anything! But after thinking about it I would probably also say some mascara. Right now I’m using Lancôme Hypnose. I also bought one of those mascara mini kits from Sephora that comes with a certificate to trade in for a full size when you’ve decided which mini you like best. Seems like a good deal.
Totally mascara. YSL Faux Cils, of course. I need all the thickening and darkening I can get. 🙂 If I couldn’t use mascara, I’d say Chanel Malice. I look like grim death without a bit of cheek color.
Just one? Only?? Concealerandlipstick
lol!
I would have to go with eyeliner. I could have on everything else but eyeliner and still look completely un-done, for some reason. If eyeliner weren’t an option, I think some sort of multi stick situation, like the Bite Beauty Multi Stick. Pale girls always need a little extra color.
Lipstick, preferably a moisturizing one. And to be clear I count SPF as skincare not makeup.
I think you’re right, a mascara or a pinky nude lipstick. Either one of those are what I normally grab if I need a little something.
Concealer…I look sick with my dark circles….I can always bite my lips and pinch my cheeks to add some color in there LOL!
Concealer still for me, but a very light coverage one since I’ll be bare everywhere else.
Hi there! New around these parts but what a great idea for a post! Need to echo those already mentioned (see what I did there? Sorry. :^)) My necessities would be tinted sunscreen – now I’m just being annoying – sheer lipstick to add color somewhere, and an eyeliner. If I weren’t cheating and I have to just get out the door, Burt’s Bees tinted lipgloss for lips and cheeks, a big floppy hat and sunglasses. In Florida, we consider those essential. And a big hello to you ladies!
Nice to meet you, Carol! Looking forward to chatting with you.
I think the best for me would be to fill in my brows. I tried yesterday, for the first time in a looong time to do a look like I always do but without any eyeliner to see how it looked. Hated it (imho it felt like such a waste to put on all that makeup and dislike what I saw) clearly eyeliner is something that really works for me. Just wearing mascara doesn’t do anything. So… Essentially, makeup isn’t worth my time unless I’m doing my usual face.
Hi Savannah,
It’s amazing what a little bit of eyeliner can do. I feel naked without a tightline!
At one point it would have been mascara . But Lo ! My lashes are growing from the Rodan and Fields serum .
So I would say Blush .
Because I have no color !
Hi Michele,
I’ve been using that serum for about 3 months now. How long have you been using the serum? I’m definitely seeing results. I’m going to wait one more month to write about it since I basically skipped February.
I was going to say foundation until I read the other comments. Now I’d say brow powder. As I’ve gotten older, I have hardly any brows, so that would be my default.
Most of the time I’d say brow makeup. But my skin is getting over a big breakout right now, so concealer. But normally my top priorities are brows and mascara for my invisible lashes.
The only makeup I wear everyday is brow gel, if I don’t my brows just end up going crazy because they are so long & bushy. Runner-up would definitely be mascara. Even though I have acne & dark circles, I just find that I can’t use concealers or foundation without a whole routine or I look somewhat corpse like.
That depends. Today it would be mascara, but when my acne flares up it would be concealer. Not for the undereyes, but for the face.

It’d have to be red lipstick. Perfect colour for me and my daytime location is so dry that lip products are a must for me!
