I stepped into my bathroom to take a shower the other day — because, apparently, I shower three times a day now because I’m so freaking sweaty — and discovered that a bunch of products I used all summer long have all gone empty at the same time.
Thing is, I use things items practically every day, so you’d think I would have noticed sooner that my industrial-sized bottle of honey mango shower gel was running low, but nooOOOOooo. As if out of nowhere, it’s empty.
I’m curious — what are some of your recent empties/things you’ve run out of lately? I’m kind of a voyeur who loves hearing about things people have finished to the last drop.
Here are mine…
1. Alba Botanica Very Emollient Bath & Shower Gel in Honey Mango Replenishing Moisture for Extra Dry Skin ($12.99)
When I got this 32-oz. bottle for $12.99 at Target, it was for both me AND El Hub. So it wasn’t just for me! It doesn’t contain parabens or pthalates, and the light mango scent smells divine when I’m lathering up, but it doesn’t linger on the skin, which my husband likes (I guess he doesn’t want to smell like mangoes at work). I always feel squeaky clean after using it.
Now it’s empty.
2. Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion ($30)
An old fave from years ago that I rediscovered earlier this summer. It’s so good that I seriously considered cutting open the bottle with a knife to extract the last drops, but I decided that that was probably a bad idea… I didn’t want to accidentally cut off my pinky.
3. Burt’s Bees Baby Shampoo and Wash ($14.59)
OK, this one isn’t technically one of my empties. It’s one of Connor’s.
It creates LOTS of bubbles, which she loves to play with in the bath, and it doesn’t sting her eyes.
P.S. She loves it when we use it as a shampoo, and I style her hair into a baby mohawk.
P.P.S. Someone needs to invent a baby emoji ? with a mohawk.
4. Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse ($24)
Of course I had to try this because, as you know, I was low-key stalking Caroline Hirons for a minute.
This is great! There’s a solid cleansing oil on one side and a cleansing cream on the other, and they completely remove all of my makeup and cleanse my skin without making it feel dry.
5. Kate Somerville Anti-Bac Acne Clearing Lotion ($42)
I’ve been turning to this acne-fighting friend for years!
I slacked off earlier this year and didn’t put it on my chin or around my mouth for like two weeks because I was just straight-up lazy, and I paid for it when Julian the pimple moved in.
I need to get a refill of this ASAP.
6. R+Co Analog Cleansing Foam Conditioner ($29)
OK, I don’t know if I can call this an empty yet because I can’t tell how much is actually left in the bottle, but the bottle feels pretty light… But I keep getting more out of it when I use it in the shower, so who knows? It’s been like this for almost two months.
It’s lasted a lot longer than I thought it would, and I’m still totally and completely in love with it.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I kind of love to finish up products, but then I hate repurchasing them or trying to find something new! Alba Botanica is a great brand, I love their exfoliator but I haven’t tried any body washes from them 🙂

I just finished my Yves Rocher Almond Orange Blossom Bath & Shower Gel. I use this stuff as a bubble bath, and while that line is never on sale or part of a promotion (unlike most Yves Rocher things in Europe… I can’t remember the last time I paid full price for their perfumes, skin care or makeup), I went out of my way to get a new bottle so that I wouldn’t run out.

I just finished up a Nexus split end repair leave in, which basically worked like a leave in conditioner. I also threw out an old softsoap body wash I knew I wouldn’t use. I’m going through my stock because my CVS has a bunch of Salma Hayek Nuance products for 75% off! I want to stock up but I don’t want to over-buy!

Hi Karen! I recently purchased the Pixi Double Cleanse uh cleanser too… I’ve used it a couple of times and I like it. Question for you: do you bother using a washcloth with it? Coz the instructions say remove with a moist facecloth (both cleansers!) but I’m not really big on the washcloths and I’m wondering if it really works better with or if anyone else is like me and doesn’t bother… also, if you’ve ever been sucked in by Eve Lom products: Would you say this Pixi Double Cleanse compares? Thanks in advance.

Recent empties for me are Pixi Double Cleanse. I feel like I should start buying this in multiples. Zelens Intense Defense. Nice but rather expensive stateside. Since Dear Husband doesn’t have a trip to the UK lined up any time soon I doubt I’ll repurchase. Zelens Power D treatment drops. Love this one. Calms any irritation from rentinoids to acne flare ups. Just another layer of comfort when my skin gets dryer in the winter. I already have a back up bottle. There are a lot of things I’m near the end of and probably won’t repurchase. I’m trying to narrow down my hair care and skin care stashes to the tried and true products.

My recent empties are
1) Sensai cheek blush in shade 03 Usukurenai and I am really proud of myself 😀 ! 1 down 30 to go! Other than that – it’s a great pink cheek color with golden sheen. Also the quality of brush that came with it is very good. I even washed it and retained for my collection as a blusher or highlighter brush. Really considering to repurchase it.
2) Burberry lipstick in Peony Pink. It was laying at home partially used, but since my son, age of two, got very attracted to it’s magnetic case, I decided to use it up asap, orherwise home will end up in a lipsticky mess. Considering to repurchase, but in a different shade.

I just went to Ulta today to replenish some of my empties.
1. Clinique take the day off cleansing balm. This is like my 4th one. I love this stuff.
2. Hask moisturizing shampoo/conditioner.
3. OGX Fiber Full Big Hair hairspray. I love this stuff. It gives my hair a little oomph and holds all day!
4. I needed some soaps from Bath and Body Works but I saw that Ulta sells foaming hand soaps. They were on sale buy 2 get 2 free so I decided to give them a try. Hopefully they’re as good as the BBW ones.

One of my recent empties is one of yours … the Caroline Hirons/Pixi Double Cleanse. I’ll be starting my third jar after making it through a Tatcha Cleansing Oil bottle. Also finished a jar of Elizabeth Arden moisturizer with sunscreen that I won from Allure and will not be purchasing a replacement. It caused under the skin bumps that weren’t pimples. Now that I’m not using it anymore, no more bumps. Two others empties, both from It Cosmetics: The super-size tubes of CC they sell every six months on QVC and a new jar of their build-a-brow fiber gel. I’m on auto-renew for both.

Hello Karen! I love reading about empties. As for me, I’ve just finished my Shikai vanilla hand and body lotion and I did have a backup because I’m addicted to the smell. It’s a refreshing vanilla smell which is so hard to find. It smells like a mixture of green leaves or maybe a spring day and vanilla extract. I also recently finished my Alba Botanical Plumera conditioner (love the shampoo too.)

That is really funny that your faves run out at the same time. I haven’t had any recent empties (except cat litter!) but I’m almost out of my curl activator spray gel stuff from DevaCurl. And I’m using up a tube of one of the boys’ regular hair gel (Gillette, I believe). You know he can’t be bothered to shake and squeeze the last bit out of it, like I will. 🙂
