I’m just curious. I read about this bronzing face mist from St. Tropez that you can get at Sephora for $30. You spray it on your face and neck, and apparently it’s like a misting self-tanner spray that gives you some color without making a mess on your clothes or hands.
I’m intrigued.
It made me think about fading summer tans. Like, this is not a big issue for me (obvi), but I do put on a little color during the summer. I’m usually an NC42 in MAC, but I’ll move up into NC44 territory. (I try to wear hats and sunscreen when I can, just because my face starts to hurt when I get too much sun.)
Anyway, I do have friends, though, who like to keep their summer color into winter, so I passed this bronzing mist info on to them (and you!).
Inquiring minds want to know. Is this a concern for you? For me, not so much. But let me know if it’s one for you in the comments.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Lol, I’ve never tanned in my life! I freckle, and/or burn and that’s it.
I’d love to have a deeper skin tone just for like, a few days or a week. Just to see what it’s like to be outside for more than 10 minutes without burning. Or what it’s like to actually tan. But I think I’d want to go back to my ghostly white shade eventually, cause it’s part of me, you know?

Hi Janet,
I feel similarly about my wavy hair. It’s fun to have it straight for a while, but ultimately I feel more like me when it’s wavy or curly.
How is baby Sally doing?
Janet Shepherd says
She’s really well – not much of a baby anymore, she’s 21 months of pure toddler!
My Mum is visiting at the moment so she’s having lots of fun Grandma time.

Not so much, really. But I have heard about the mist before and apparently it actually works. I always figured it would make a mess of myself and the bathroom.
Karen says
Cool that it works!

I haven’t tanned in a long time. However, I do pick up color just by being outside and it makes me look so much healthier. Without it, I am ghostly. But seeing that I live in an area where most people don’t go outside much during the winter, I’m not really into keeping my little bit of color into the winter. It’s not that important to me.
Karen says
Hi Christine,
Do you live someplace super cold? The Bay Area where I’m at gets chilly but it’s never really THAT cold (like the coldest it gets is the 40s).
Christine says
I live in Belgium. It can get pretty cold here! Last winter, I think the lowest that it was was 5°F. That day, I looked like an Eskimo! My husband nicknamed me the “cold chicken” because I’m always Friezin even if I’m sitting next to a heater. Lol!

Pardon my computer’s autocorrect from English to Dutch.

No worries girl! That’s cool that we’re chatting from across the globe. I’ve never been to Belgium but I’d like to go to see all the beautiful cities and of course eat my weight in chocolate! Have you lived there your whole life? I pretty much grew up here in Northern California (moved here from the Philippines when I was young).
Christine says
It is pretty neat! I’ve learned that the internet makes the world very small. I’ve lived here for about 4 years now. I grew up in NY. Belgium is a nice little country! The chocolate and Luikse or Brussel waffles are delish! Belgium is also know for their French fries.. But honestly, I don’t taste a huge difference. Hopefully no one from Belgium is reading this! Haha!

I’m as white as a ghost, so, no, I don’t try to extend my tan because I’ve never had one. LOL! I like being one colour all year round so I don’t have to worry about finding a foundation match, which is hard enough as it is for me. Plus, my paleness is a part of who I am, so while I’ll wear a slightly darker foundation just for fun sometimes, I always revert back to my old self.
By the way, you look great in that pic!
Karen says
Thanks, Christina!
And oh, the drama of having to find a foundation match. It’s been a forever a struggle for me, too. But it’s gotten easier over the past few years with all of the options available now.
Anywho, happy Thursday to you. I can’t wait for Friday… It’s been a long week.

Ah how I wish I could “tan”. all I do is pick up more freckles and age spots. Such is the pale gal life! you lucky Bronze Goddess, you!
Tatiana says
Yet another particularly pale person who doesn’t tan. Although it would be kind of nice to see what it’s like to spend more than 10 minutes in the sun without turning lobster red, especially my nose where nothing seems to stick (not foundation, not sunscreen).
So no, I don’t think about extending color into winter. Although I do think about how to fade freckles and melasma.
Karen says
The most effective thing I’ve found for freckles has been Skinceuticals C+E Ferulic but it’s soooo expensive, gah!
Rachel Runyan says
My skin doesn’t tan. Even if it burns, it just peels to white again. lol
Chelsea says
I don’t tan but I’d love my freckles to stay darker longer! I just need a sunny vacation midwinter, LOL! Michigan is very grey in the winter.
