Do You Go to Sleep Wearing Your Makeup?

May 22nd, 2010 by Karen 35 Comments

Catching some Zzzzzzs...

I never, ever, ever do. Tabs won’t let me, but because I’m tempted to from time to time, I keep makeup wipes on the nightstand (just in case).

If I’m wearing foundation, eyeshadow, mascara and the whole sha-bang, I always always take it off. But on extremely lazy days when I wake up and only have time or the will to put on a little mascara, if I’m too tired at night, I’ll just sleep with mascara on.. I know I shouldn’t.. I do keep make up wipes on my night stand as well, so that first thing in the morning, I take it all off before I look myself in the mirror to find racoon eyes!

I only go to bed wearing makeup if I’m drunk….. which isn’t often (I’m gettin’ too old for that shiz!). But last time I woke up with a hangover I managed to take out my contacts, take off my makeup, and put on pj’s whilst I had tied on a serious buzz and I don’t remember any of it!

Haha, once I was particularly drunk and apparently insisted that we all go wash our faces and brush our teeth before bed (I was staying with friends). I’m glad I’m not the only one that’s done something similar!

I never go to bed with my makeup on. If I do, it’ll break me out and for the sake of a couple of minutes to cleanse it all off, I’d rather avoid the zits.

If I’m feeling lazy I’ll use wipes, but I usually use eye makeup remover and then a face wash to make sure its all gone.

Sometimes if I am really tired, I fall asleep w/ make up but usually I wash my face to take off make up or use make off remover before going to bed.

I agree with Kylie above.. only when I’m drunk lol..

I like to wear lots of eye make up. Theres no way I could go to sleep with it! I’m in my 30’s now so I try to take extra good care of my skin.

Never. Never, ever ever do I sleep with my makeup on. Sleeping with makeup is the number one way to get a face full of fat pimples. I have enough of a pimple problem as it is. Besides, do you know how dirty your pillow looks after you’ve slept with your makeup on? It’s mega gross.

I used to until I found out how bad it is for your skin! Now, even when I’m tired, I manage to wash my face before I fall asleep.

I used to years ago when I returned home late at night and was really sleep. But not that I know how bad it is for skin, I remove everything with wipes if I’m feeling tired or lazy.

Im OCD so I never sleep w/ makeup on. Thats why I have accumulated products all meant to clean my face at the fastest possible time. I have makeup wipes (Soap & Glory and Kirkland), a Japanese makeup remover (Mandom Cleaning Express) and the Clinique Take the Day Off Balm and Cleanser. That way – if I feel like not washing my face, the makeup is at least off of it!

I sometimes am waaaay too tired to take my makeup off before I go to sleep, but I take all of it off when I wake up in the morning. It never seems to cause pimples for me, but my skin is usually pretty even. I fill in my eyebrows though, so sometimes I just don’t wash them off for a couple days, and just touch them up in the morning…shhh.

I randomly fall asleep and take naps with makeup on, but if I’m going to bed for the night, everything comes off. I feel gross if I don’t.

I never bother removing eye makeup (i don’t wear it that often anyway – only when going out/onweekends) or concealer before bed, but on the 10-15 times per year when I wear foundation, I will cleanse properly before bed, otherwise it feels nasty.

I always always always take off my makeup before sleeping at night.. or else my face is MUCH more prone to breakouts the next few days. However, since school tires me out (almost ALL the time).. i find that i tend to pass out for awhile after school… with my makeup on. 🙁 good thing is, these short naps with makeup on dont usually break me out 🙂

I tend to rub my eyes and break eyelashes while asleep/trying to fall asleep, so I’ll wake up with black hands if I don’t wash my face before bed.

There are some days (usually driving 5 hours, staying at a friends overnight then driving back the next day).. I don’t bother to wash my face that night. But this is like a once a year thing. Can’t do it any other time!

I always TRYY to wash my face every night before going to sleep… but sometimes there are just those days where I just fall asleep in front of the laptop on my bed and it’s just a lost cause. Of course.. then I get a couple of ugly zits and I end up kicking myself in the butt for not washing 🙁

I always do, no matter how tired I am….sometimes, I would just take a short nap, and somehow, I would wake up short while later to clean off my makeup, then flop down to bed again. 😉

I wouldn’t be able to sleep well with my makeup on as I will always be worrying about smearing them on my pillow and sheet.

    Mascara- yes

Concealer, mineral powder- usually melts of before bedtime anyway, but I usually don’t wash my face at night because I take showers in the morning! Bad, I know. But a few days a week, when I remember, I wipe my face with Witch Hazel on a cotton ball. I always leave makeup on if I’m staying at a friend’s house unless we’re having a girls’ night which entails facials, lol.

So, I suppose the short answer is in fact, yes and often :\

I’m so bad. I do this more often than I’d like to admit. Most of the time it’s coming home after a night of debauchery and collapsing on a bed-like surface, but there have been the times where I am just to lazy/tired to deal with it.
On the plus side, it’s great for experimenting with how long your shadow primer REALLY lasts!

I do sometimes accidentally take a nap here or there with my makeup on, but I never go to sleep sleep with my makeup on and I try really hard not to work late into the night without taking it off either. I start clogging and breaking out between 3am and 4am without fail if I don’t get the stuff off my face lol.

Once in a blue moon a do, especially when I am out late until past 2 am and when I am spending the night somewhere else. Then I would just go to sleep, but I always pay for it later with mini breakouts of whiteheads.

ugh, sadly, I am guilty of this occasionally, although I really should know better because *without fail*, I wake up with a nasty spot, and usually on my biggest problem areas, since that’s where I would’ve used makeup the day before to cover up, >___<

i used to ALL the time and it never bothered me. but now that i’m almost 40, i won’t do it anymore! i think it stretches out your pores, to tell you the truth. i have big pores on my cheeks, and i think it’s because they would get clogged with makeup overnite for all those years. girls, don’t do it!! xo

I have been known too. Only if im too exhausted to bother though. I suffer from M.E i think its known as Chronic Fatigue. This may sound crazy but on a really bad day i will look at myself and think i feel and look awful,so out comes the makeup lol. On those days i will perhaps sleep with it on.

if not, then no, i have to always take my make up off, straight after coming home, no need to wait until bedtime 😛

Never, ever. I could be in a coma and I’d still make it to the sink to brush my teeth and wash my face. Aside from the breakouts, having eye make-up settle into those fine lines is also a scary thought!!

    No, never ever.
But there are some occasions, incredibly rare, when you don’t go to bed in a bed, or fall asleep on a couch for a nap, etc. If I take a nap during the day, I don’t always remove makeup, maybe only foundation and stuff. I do however, when I wake up.
I’ve had the rare occasion, when you’re on the road and sleep hits you – during travelling, on the train, in the car, on some stairs (one time lol!), so in these cases, I don’t have makeupwipes and I don’t really care.
Otherwise, even if I sleep elsewhere, over at a friend etc, I always take my makeup off. I’ve never been so ill/tipsy to forget/not care to. 🙂

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days).
