Did You Color Your Hair This Year?

December 29th, 2009 by Karen 31 Comments

Did you color your hair this year?

Yes, ma’am, I did. 🙂 Well, my hairdresser did. She covered up my grays and gave me highlights — not pink ones like this Photoshop image (thank goodness!), but caramel highlights.

How about you?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Happy Tuesday, ladies. How’s it going today? I’m just about ready to head to the airport for our trip home to California. We had a nice visit, but I just got an email from Tabs. He said he’s “running low on gravy — hurry home.” 🙂

Oh yes, in fact I’ve colored my hair every couple months since about age 13. 🙂

I colored my hair this year too! I did it in January 2009 but don’t think I touched up at all throughout the year. At least for the last 8 months for sure. Looks like I’m becoming low maintenance in my old age, LOL

Hope all is well with you!

I actually decided to stop coloring my hair after having it dyed black for over a year. It’s going back to a lovely reddish-brown. :o)

I colored my hair several time this year but not as much as last year. I am actually going to dye it again to night. It has been several months and my hair looks a little blah. I was going to go back to my natural color until I saw what it was….very icky dishwater blonde.

I get my hair high-lighted. Always a shade of blonde. Last time he pu in a combo of chocolate brown and blonde. Next time I am upping the blonde and cutting it a lot shorter.

Not unless you count the Aussie 3 Minute Deeeep Conditioner treatments. My hair bleached a little bit over the summer from the sun but other than that, nope. My hair stylist chewed me out when she saw my natural color and told her I thought about coloring it.

i’m a redhead, natural one and my color is quite vibrant so I always thought coloring my hair would be some sort of a crime, so I don’t do it.
But if I was a brunette or brown haired I would definitely dye it in all the colors of a rainbow 😀

I haven’t colored my hair at all this year, not even highlights. But I’m thinking of dying it red soon. I love red hair, it’s beautiful!

I stopped coloring my hair about 4 years ago because I needed to look older for work and the grays helped balance my baby face. Four years later, I haven’t gone much greyer and it doesn’t look like I have enough gray and makes me seem younger! I may go back to a demi-permanent dye so the grays become “highlights.”

I colored my hair two months ago, slightly darker brown. I hadn’t dyed my hair in forever, I like my natural color, but I wanted to go a little darker when it got cold. I think I’m going to try one of those at home glossers, shiny hair is my next goal!

It’s been a colour roller coaster for my hair this year. I started off with au naturel dark brunette, but I decided that I wish I was a redhead and got red streaks. They were hottt! LOL but so high maintenance. So then it became a medium brown that oftentimes was brassy. Now I’m giving my hair a break, back to good ol’ dark brown for months now, and growing out my natural hair.

I got highlights, coppery ones. It was the first time I’d put any sort of color on my hair since high school (about 8 years). I’ve always dreamed of being a redhead, but it’s completely high maintenance.

I actually just got back from my hair appt!

I started the year with it darkened, but this summer found a new hair stylist (whom I love and would travel for, though thank god I havent had to yet) and she’s made me a lighter blonde. Its the closest I’ve ever dyed it to my natural color…

In high school I dyed it DARK red, almost purple, and at one point, it was pretty much black. Thank god I don’t do that anymore…

You look nice in purple hair, Karen! 😀
I’ve been um…lightening my hair colour this year, to make it blonder since the darker blonde wasn’t looking very nice and was washing me out. So yeah, that’s what I’ve been doing since say this time last year! And I’m super happy with the results, luckily!

I actually went BRIGHT RED this year. Been dying my hair since I was a teenager (the curse of having mousey brown hair!)….but this year I decided to go extreme. It took a while (12 hours total in the chair over 3 sessions!) but I am so happy with it. Lots of maintanence but I still love it.

this year was my very first highlight experience. its golden brown now against my brownish black asian hair. i wanted red highlights but my hairdresser strongly discouraged me since it grows out into orange. eeewww….will definitely do this again since my gene pool is blessed with premature grey hair.

I have coloured by hair this year: caramel blondish streaks. I don’t colour as often anymore I use to colour every 3-4 months but now I stretch it out to 5-6 for budget reasons. Plus, I don’t colour my hair a high maintenance colour. I haven’t have virgin hair since I was 15.

omg speaking of which I just did yesterday! FAILED miserably. I already dyed it some sort of brown before but my new shade which was supposed to be pinkish brown but it did NOTHING. It just made my roots match the rest of my hair -___________–;; le sigh!

I dyed my hair a few colors this year. Went red a couple times, then went deep red, which was great until it washed out in a month’s time (Argh, love red but it fades SO fast!). Now I found a color called “cinnamon brown.” Red-tinted medium brown. Love it! Way better than my natural mousey brown.

Hi Karen! I never colored my hair….although sometimes I wanted a platinum blonde…but I like my blonde natural color also. 🙂 I don’t think I would like to color my hair every month….because I hate it when I see other girls with their roots of a different color 🙂

Erm, I got some highlights at the end of december but those grew out icky so I got this gorgeous red while I was in Sweden. However that faded quickly and stupid me then got a friend to colour it chocolate brown which turned out more black. Ewwwww. That’s faded a lot in the sun this summer though so now it’s okay and I’m letting it grow out to go back to blonde 🙂

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
