Can You Name the Neutral Palettes?

Stop it! Homegirl doesn’t want to hear it…and I’m not listening when you say, “Karen! The last thing you need on this earth is another brown eyeshadow.” *plugs ears and closes eyes* LA-LA-LA-LA-LAAAAA!

neutral-palettes-2

I emptied out my neutral palette drawer yesterday (for the heck of it), and this is what I found.

See anything that looks familiar? How many of them do you recognize?

If you can name them all, then BOW DOWN! You’re the mac daddy/daddy mac of the neutral palette universe.

This is amazing, I love seeing people’s makeup collections! I’d love to see more. How about sharing your lipstick collection with us? Or your blushes or foundations? Those are posts I’d LOVE to see!

The drawer where I keep my foundations is out of control; this might just be an excuse to clean it out, haha!

Wow, that is quite the collection of neutrals. How many pairs of eyes do you have (ha,ha,ha)! I can’t imagine all the names of the palettes. I have three in my collection and I don’t even use them most of the time. I will say though, I got a peak of images of Bobbi Brown’s Wine & Chocolate collection and the eye quads look similar to the Tom Ford shades. I love Wine & Chocolate (both the makeup and the real stuff).
BTW, I got a look at ConnorClaire.com. It is pretty cool. I am thinking of getting the lipstick iPhone case because there is one for a 5C since I got Zack’s phone when he got the upgrade to the 6(you’ll understand a mother’s sacrifice soon enough).
Anyway, back from vacation. Had a great time and got me a nice tan! Be well.

      Hi Jane,

I could use some wine and chocolate right now, LOL!

Thanks for the feedback on ConnorClaire.com. It was a labor of love and I’m so happy to finally share it.

I hope you had a fun vacation. Is Zack back in school?

Oh, Lordy Lord! Be still my beating heart. I love me some eyeshadow palettes. All the pretty colors. Kinda jealous, I have the TF Cocoa Mirage, but I didn’t score the one on the right before they discontinued it. Sigh.
I see some I have and plenty I don’t have (like Naked 3 and Naked Smoke). Then I think there are some Bobbi Browns and Laura Merciers I have that I don’t see up there.
Which two Chanel’s are those? I have Poesie, but have been hankering to obtain one or two more…Like Essentiel, Rivoli, Camelia, Vendome and Automne. OK, so maybe more than one or two more.

Yeah, Cognac Sable. RIP!!! Why they decided to phase that one out I’ll never know. It’s my favorite TF palette.

The two Chanels are Poesie and Tisse Rivoli. I was going to include Kaska Beige but OMG I CAN’T FIND IT. Yes, I’m freaking out a little.

Karen. This is AN INCREDIBLE SCENE. I am in awe/super jealous. Those earth tones, the wearableness… Perfect! No criticism here-just admiration!!

Aww, man. Stop the presses. What a sight to behold! So, I don’t know the names of all of them, but I do know the brands. There’s UD Naked 1,2,3 & 4 (otherwise known as the smoked palette). Two from the Balm, one MAC Brooke Shields, one MAC Nordstrom palette, & two large palettes from MAC that I don’t know the name of. Two from Too Faced- Chocolate & Semi Chocolate, one from Stila, Lorac, Tarte, and another UD palette with a blush, bronzer, & highlight, a custom palette with NARS blushes & singles(?), 2 MAC quads, & 2 Tom Ford quads (?), & 2 maybe 3 (?) Smashbox. Beyond that, I got nothing. Lol! ?

I think I can name almost all of these! Probably because I have about the same number of neutral palettes (and I’m not even a beauty blogger). I’m not sure if I should feel proud or ashamed! Great collection 🙂

Ugh… Now that’s a beautiful sight. I’ve had almost all of them at one point or another and then I sell them to get more. The one you have that I want so bad is that MAC Brooke Shields one. Drooling!

At least you have drawers! I have general bins (face, eyes, lips) but I’m also sort of living out of Sephora boxes. And don’t even ask about the bathroom counter situation!

I think I did OK with the palette brands but definitely not with collection names. Truthfully, my eye went straight to the Chanel and I had to snap myself out of it. 🙂

I think I know all but 3 or 4… that gold quad towards bottom right is D&G, right? the ones I’m not sure of are the top 3 in the third row (from left)… I’m pretty sure at least one is a lorac, perhaps an Anastasia? (tho that was my guess for the one directly below the Nakeds.. unless one of them is actually Laura Mercier… gaaah! haha) annd… is the one with the red-handled brush from smashbox? I could never name all the Mac ones, of course, but at least I recognize that they’re Mac! same for TF, Chanel, Tarte, TooFaced and the D&G, (assuming I was right on that one) because the packaging is recognizable…

Oh, and I have absolutely no idea what the one at the very top of that third row is… I don’t even recognize the shape! Ver jealous, though! I have more singles than palettes because I always worry myself about spending big $ on a palette that only has a few shades I really love… so the only ones I have are that Tarte in Bloom, naked2 basics, and a Clarins and a Chanel, both quads. Now I have new goals, though!! 😀

I love me a nude palette… I’ve been reaching for the OG Chocolate Bar every day lately! I vastly prefer it over the Nakeds I own (1 and 3) for easy, quick looks purely because I need a hefty dose of mattes to get through a look, something the Naked palettes sadly lack. I tend to reach for those when I have enough time to rifle through my Z palette for mattes and pop some of those gorgeous UD shimmers on my lid (pick a shimmer, any shimmer! they’re all stunning). But if I had to pick one neutral palette to get me by, Too Faced Chocolate Bar wins hands down for amazing quality and versatility.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
