Glamour Beauty Blog Interviews Makeup and Beauty Blog
I don’t do a whole lot of interviews (because no one ever asks, LOL!), but I did one this week for Beth over at Glamour’s beauty blog, The Girls in the Beauty Department.

In the interview I talk about blogging, beauty and the stick of purple Wet n’ Wild eyeliner that changed my life. Click here to see what that’s all about.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Great interview! One of my friends had a similar introduction to make-up with her mom at the Clinique counter. I think that is such a great idea!

Thanks! 🙂 LOL, Clinique is a total “gateway” makeup drug for so many people!

Now how cool is that? You are in great company in that series and good to see you getting some recognition.

Clinique was my first “real” makeover when I stepped from drugstore to department store. Somehow I always keep a Clinique Almost Brown eyeliner in my stash even though I rarely use it anymore (cause the super cool MA told me it was perfect for me lol).

    Hi Chris,

Thank you. 🙂 I am a big fan of that series, too, so it was nice to get asked to participate.

Anyhoo, Almost Brown! That’s an old school goodie for me. Other old school Clinique favorites: New Clover blush, Raspberry Glace lipstick, Black Honey lipstick and Fawn Satin eyeshadow (remember when you could get it as single?). How about you?

Great interview, Karen–and you look gorgeous in the picture too. I remember my makeup obsession started with some eyeliner too, that I probably applied in raccoon-like circles around my eyes–it’s so random what will get you hooked, eh? Love the new site layout as well! Have a great day!

      Hi Lesley,

I wish the Glamour folks did me up! That pic was from awhile back, it’s the Clarin’s So Sublime quad and a few other things. I believe it’s still available at the counter if you want to check it out. Here’s a link to the post that gives a breakdown of the look.

Are you catching some sun today? I hope so! I’m off for a quick run in a few. 🙂

I think some of us (ahem, meaning me) overlook Clinique sometimes for the great basics in the lineup.

I have Atoll – do you think it’s similar?

I actually bought that one a long time ago and thought of our previous comment conversation about liquid shadow. I never did a review on it – what are your thoughts on the formula?

Happy Fat Tuesday to you! Are you doing anything Mardi Gras-inspired today?

      Hi Lilan,

I think Delta might be a bit more cool.

The liquid shadow is definitely quick and easy! I also like how it doesn’t require fingers. The thinness of it might be challenging at first, but I think once you know what you’re working with then it gets easy.

I wish I did something fun and Mardi-Gras inspired. I ended up just reading and going to sleep. How about you?

Resumes are really challenging to write. I took mine out a month ago and I swear it was like a shot of stress right into my veins. Are you revamping yours because you’re considering a career change?

Your story reminded me the first time my mom caught me wearing makeup – I think she was more mad that i was wearing wet and wild so she bought me a maybelline palette and lipgloss! She pretty much was my enabler – I was wearing Lancome throught out high school – she bought my first red Dior lipstick at 15 – I did get spoiled and maybe this is why I can’t wear drugstore brands no matter how improved the brand has become…

      Hi Lexi,

LOL! I remember so many eighth grade conversations starting with the words, “My mom caught me wearing makeup.” Ha ha ha!

Do you still have any of that Lancome makeup? I held onto my Clinque stuff for a long time for sentimental reasons.

I hear ya. I think it makes a difference when you’re really invested in your work. 🙂 Then again, I gotta say having a gig where you can just leave your work at work and not have to take it home with you is a plus. I’ve had both types of jobs and they both have pros and cons.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days).
