Beauty Snacks: Sites of the Day, Jan. 4

January 4th, 2009 by Karen 21 Comments

A dash of freesia, a bit of lavender…

Brace yourself but Hot Topic’s selling a new Twilight perfume ($48!). “The forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest.” LOL!

Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix is tempting

This finishing spray mist is supposed to set your makeup for hours. OOH! Let me know if you’ve tried it.

How I really feel…

… about Comic Sans, NOOO!

Cute makeup bags

These print handmade bags come from my old stomping grounds out in The Beast (that’s East Bay in Pig Latin, yo), close to where I grew up. Don’t the Paris and Cat Mug Shot bags rule?

Multitaskers unite!

A list of nine multi-tasking beauty products engineered to save you time, space and energy. The peach nut oil’s supposed to be safe for faces, cats AND surfboards, LOL!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hahahaa….I like Comic Sans. Poor font gets so much slack for trying to be cute. I am sucha font nerd.

I love MUFE Mist & Fix, although it’s like gold dust to get hold of over here. It really does what it says on the can though, much better than Mac Fix+. I use it on all my clients and it really does keep everything in place for hours.

Weird… is this just me or does the Twilight perfume bottle looks exactly the same (well, except for the writings on it) as Nina Ricci’s Nina bottle? o_O

    Hi Indian Girl,

I don’t mind if it’s in all caps and italics… but in it’s regular mode it bugs me, blah!

Do you have a favorite font? I get font crushes all the time, LOL. Right now I’m loving Zanzibar.

    Hi Karen!
I haven’t tried the MUFE spray, but I have used Model in a Bottle and LOVED it. I just sprayed it on after applying my make up and it held through a 9 hour work day without a problem.
Cute make up bags! Loved the Paris one… I just wish they were more like $10 lol

the bottle is totally a rip-off of nina by nina ricci… i wonder if that’ll cause any legal issues?

edward was pretty adorable in the movie, although the movie itself caused me to hurl in the nearest popcorn bucket… something about vampires…

stewart townsend and the guy that played edward were quite similar, i think… in terms of the creepy but attractive acting thing.

I loved Twilight, but I thought the book was way better. The girl who played Bella was pretty but I don’t think she got the character JUST right. I love Edward, though! Breaking Dawn isn’t a good ending to the series..how dissappointing..

That Paris makeup bag is so cute 🙂

I agree – the bottle IS the Nina Ricci one! That’s too bad, because I like the Nina Ricci fragrance, they could have at least changed the colour or the leaves! Sheesh.

Hi Karen! Loved the Etsy bags! Did you see the 4″x7″ one with flying pigs? Too cute! Thanks for passing along the NYT article on multi-taskers–didn’t get to see it yesterday. I can think of a few more multi-taskers I’ve used and loved–Dr. Bronner’s 18-in-one pure castile soap in hemp peppermint. It’s especially good in the summer if you’d like to take a cooling bath! You can find it on drugstore.com. When skiing in the freezing weather, I use Weleda’s Everon Face Balm after applying sunscreen. It really protects with sweet almond oil and beeswax–it won’t freeze on your face like a regular lotion or cream can.

    Have a great day!

    Hi Vanessa H,

Oh, I will have to look into that. I’ve been using MAC Fix+ and honestly I dunno if it makes any difference (I always end up using it to wet my brushes). Thanks for the recommendation. 🙂

    Hi Ines,

I liked the film overall but thought it was a little heavy handed. They’re are making a sequel, but with a new director, HOORAY!

I couldn’t stop staring at Edward Cullen’s hair the entire time, LOL.

    Hi Lindsay,

I loved Edward’s hair, LOL. It was so big but it kinda worked for him.

    Hi Karen4,

Oh! That one is so cute. I am such a sucker for printed makeup bags…

Good call on the Dr. Bronner’s. I’m surprised they didn’t have it on the list. I like to use it to when I’m dusting, believe it or not! 🙂

And thanks for the Weleda rec — there’s a shop in my town that sells the line. This gives me an excuse to check it out.

    Happy Monday!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
