Back to the Future! One Year Ago on Makeup and Beauty Blog

Chanel Ombre Essentielle1. Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow: Bonjour Credit Card Debt — Last summer Chanel brought the noise with their eyeshadow quads. They were so outstanding that I almost overlooked the singles… I’m glad I came to my senses before it was too late. 🙂

Chanel Leopard Rouge Hydrabase2. Lip Look: Chanel Rouge Hydrabase Leopard Lipstick — If you can get your hands on Leapard Hydrabase Lipstick, grab it up. I feel it’s my civic duty to inform coral lipstick lovers everywhere how creamy and smooth it feels on my lips.

9 things I'm glad I know3. 9 Things I’m Glad I Know — Ya’ll know how much I love to write lists. Among the things I’m glad I know: how to tweeze my brows and wax my ‘stache. You’d be looking at the sasquatch of beauty bloggers if it weren’t for hair removal, LOL!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance4. Too Faced Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eyeshadow Primer Blends Great, Lasts All Day Long — If you’re new to makeup, you might be thinking, “Uh, what’s an eye primer?” Fair enough. Eyeshadow primers create a smooth layer on top of your skin to which powder and cream shadows can better affix themselves. It translates into longer-lasting eyeshadow.

MAC Foundations Mineralize Satinfinish5. MAC Makeup Tips: MAC Does Makeup for Music, Too — You probably already knew that MAC provides makeup and makeup artists for fashion shows all over the world, but did you know that MAC does makeup for music tours, too? To find out more about how MAC works with performers on large concerts and events, I spoke with MAC Senior Makeup Artist Jennifer Karsten.

MAC Smokey Brown and Purple Eye6. Face of the Day: MAC Smokey Brown and Purple Eye — Mama always said, “When life hands you insomnia, hide your dark circles with concealer.” Okay, my mom didn’t actually say that because she doesn’t wear makeup (I know! The apple fell so far from the tree!).

MAC Soft Brown, Soba and Sable7. A Few of My Favorite Crease Colors — Which crease colors would I want to be buried with in my (presumably fabulously decorated) tomb for all eternity? That’s easy: MAC Soft Brown, Soba and Sable eyeshadow, my top three go-to crease colors of all time!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. I had a good time at dinner last night with the girls. We went to Japanese. What did you end up doing?

It’s the crack of dawn here (I’m not quite functional yet), but I’ll write more as soon as I’ve had my first cup of java. Oh, how I love thee, sweet caffeine. 🙂

      Hi Mela,

LOL! I give my mom lipsticks and stuff all the time and it just ends up sitting on top of her dresser.

Although, the last time I went home I did notice that she had a Stila palette in the bathroom. I didn’t give it to her and I have *no idea* how it got there! Maybe she’s coming over to the dark side…

      Hi Noi,

      🙂 Thanks!

Primed lids are a must for summer. Seriously, I can’t imagine life without eyeshadow primer. Discovering it was like a whole new world.

    Hola Karen,
I remember reading the above posts! That lipstick still calls to me…
Last night we went to a veggie restaurant locally and then to see State of Play… it was awesome! Super suspenseful and I enjoyed the cast. Enjoy the rest of your day!

      Hi Shiny,

I heart veggie restaurants. What kind of food did they make?

I hope you’re having a nice Sunday so far. 🙂

    Hey Karen!
Hope you are having a fun weekend! Remember I was telling that I wanted a few brown eye shadows from MAC to warm up pinks and purples? Well today I got two — Twinks and Folie!! I think I should be able to mix Twinks with pinks as well as browns… what do you think?
    Have fun!

      Hi Merylynmagic,

Oh fab! You will love Folie. It goes with so much (great outer V and liner color).

I don’t have Twinks but have heard good things about it. Have you done any experimenting with it yet?

Hi Karen. I remember reading the posts and falling in love with Chanel. I didn’t pick up Nomade eyeshadow last year and I am lemming for it now because it is summer. Leopard is hot on you!

      Hi Miss QQ,

Oh, *tears*. Nomade is a good one. Maybe someday you’ll run into it again.

Chanel is so easy to fall in love with. 🙂

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
