Accessorize Me! 13 Playfully Pink Shoes From DSW

Accessorize Me! is a new series featuring roundups and single product features of shoes, bags, jewelry and other accessories that catch my eye.

Me: You don’t need another pair of shoes, Karen.
Also Me: OMG, that pale pink suede pair of Nikes is a totally good idea.
Me: Oh, no, those will totally get dirty, you know it, within 2.5 seconds.
Also Me: Who the heck cares?!

Girl… I strolled into DSW yesterday and was floored by all the cute tennis shoes. Yeah, I’ve finally become that person who wears tennis shoes all the time because, well, chasing after a high-energy child while wearing heels is a death wish for your ankles.

So, if you’ve read MBB for any length of time, you probably know that, once upon a time, I lived in heels. I loved them so much that I wore them everywhere, even to the airport, because I was that serious about having an extra three inches of height on me, LOL!

Ah, good times…

But now? Now I’m all about cute tennies. 🙂

It started when Connor (who’s officially a toddler now, wah!) became “that kid” (air quotes) — you know, the child shooting across Costco at the speed of light and screaming like a banshee. I swear, that girl has two speeds. She’s either standing still or sprinting for Olympic gold.

So I started wearing tennis shoes all the time because it’s easier to catch her in flats, but I’ve also realized — OH, SNAP! — that I actually LOVE wearing tennis shoes. My back, shoulders, feet and calves no longer ache as much as they did when I wore heels 24/7 (go figure!). Plus, there are so many cute styles and colors to choose from.

Which leads us here, to these 13 pairs of pink shoes from DSW…

1. Nike Court Royal Suede, $59.99

nike court royale suede
Major shoe lust!

My rational side keeps telling me that I’m cray for wanting a pale pink pair of suede Nikes, because I know they’ll be covered in dirt in less than a day, but I love how the shoe is monochromatic with the pale pink shoelaces and pale pink swoosh.

UGH! SOOOOO CUTE! Maybe if I coat the living heck out of them with a suede fabric protector spray? Or make them my “fancy occasion” tennies?

2. Nike Air Max Motion, $84.99

nike air max motion lw
These are a li’l sportier… I like the pattern on the fabric!

3. Michael Kors Allie Trainer, $99.99

micahel kors allie trainer
I bet the red pop on the heel would look cute with a matching red lipstick.

4. Dr. Scholl’s Madison in Rose Gold, $49.99

dr scholls madison rosegold
I like the muted shine on these rose gold goodies…

5. Aldo Zellina, $74.99

aldo zellina
This pair should hit the spot when you’re in the mood for metallic and bling.

6. Aldo Aroalla, $49.99

aldo aroalla
All pale pink everything!

7. Adidas Neo, $54.99

adidas neo vappnk
A pink suede twist on an old classic

8. Aldo MX in Blush, $79.99

aldo mx1 light pink
The cozy knit fabric of this shoe = relaxed and casual.

9. Dolce Vita XEXE, $59.99

dolce vita xexe oxford
Pink + glitter = yes, please

10. Converse Madison, $64.99

converse ctas madison ox dusk pink
Again with the pink suede! I think one can officially say that pink suede shoes are having a moment.

11. Sketchers Double Up Platform, $59.99

sketchers shiny dancer
Lookin’ for height? Sneak some in with these sparkly, shiny pink platforms.

12. Vans Asher, $49.99 and 13. Vans Ward, $54.99

vans sepia rose
Even MOAR pink

What do you think? See anything a like?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Barb,

Yeah they do. And I bet they’d be cute with a rose gold eye. 🙂

I once had a pair of leopard print Dr. Scholl’s which I loved and literally wore into the ground!

All of these look so cute! I am loving comfy sneakers too. I’m wearing a pair of Vans right now that feel like I’m walking on clouds. As I get older, I’m all about comfort.

Hope you and the family are doing well!

I am partial to the sporty Nike’s or the Converse. I have way too many shoes too but that light pink would look so cute against blue jeans!

I’m loving those Adidas Neo sneakers! I’ve been living in a pair of silver sneakers from an Australian company called Frankie4. Since we’re heading towards summer I was thinking of getting these sandals in the same silver- but they just released them in rose gold! ?https://frankie4.com.au/hilary-rose-gold.html

      Hi Janet,

Those are so cute! I will have to vicariously live through you for the next few months because it’s finally starting to get really cold here in Northern California. Today was the first day that I had to actually bundle up and wear multiple layers!

By the way, those sandals are super cute. You have to get the rose gold ones!

I have some Steve Madden flats that lol just like the rose-gold Dr Scholl ones! So comfortable!!! I hear you on the flats and remember when I always wore heels (like 1000 years ago lol) but I’m usually not in tennis shoes but ballet flats or moccasins or boots with a tiny heel!

      Hi Sissi,

I love the idea of ballet flats but gah, they hurt my feet so much. I can never find any that actually support my arches, ya know? The only pair of ballet flats I’ve ever loved were this pair by Dr. Scholl’s. They were so cute (leopard print!) but didn’t last long.

I have actually been eyeing those adidas for months, but can’t bring myself to buy them because 1 my hubby might go nuts if I purchase another pair of shoes and I do have a TON of casual sneakers in rotation right now. But I’m wondering if I can convince him they are for our daughter since she and I wear the same size and I can borrow…..hmmmm? But the Michael Kors ones are fab too! So many options! Did you get a pair??

I was also totally into pink and gray! I’m not sure if it was clear, but the ones I have are the ones you took a photo of, and a gray pair (not pink and gray together). 🙂 We took a Viking River Cruise down the Rhine, flying into Amsterdam and flying out of Basel, Switzerland. It was 7 or 8 days altogether, I think. We went to the Netherlands, France and Germany. The trip itself was awesome. We were the youngest ones by far on the cruise (ahem). Don’t know if I’d do it again (even though it was fun). I’m more of a get there, eat, do stuff, eat, see more stuff, eat, drive around, etc. The excursions were mostly all included, so that was good, but I don’t like eating with strangers. They were so snooty, too! But it was fun nonetheless.

A pink and gray pair would’ve been awesome (I’d be all over that in a second, no hesitation), but hey, two separate pairs are cool too. 🙂

I’ve never taken a cruise myself but my parents have and they said it’s a lot of fun. They’re chill travelers so they enjoy having the pre-planned activities. The last and only time I went to Europe was over ten years ago; El Hub and I backpacked through England, France, Spain and Portugal. We did everything on our own, which was fun and adventurous (lots of eating then going to do stuff!), but I remember there were a few times when I wished that we were in a group where all we had to do was show up and someone would take us somewhere, LOL.

And BAH to snooty people at meals. That’s my pet peeve, because it’s so unnecessary. It’s a meal! Have fun, enjoy the company. You just might me a new friend. At least that’s my take on it.

Will you be taking any big trips any time soon?

That sounds fabulous! I’m sure you made lots of great memories that will never fade, especially in the first blush of a new relationship! I have nothing on calendar for the immediate future because I’m going to be a grandma again (grandchild #2) in May 2018 and I want to be there for that, and my poor dad is not in the best of health, so I’m afraid to take any trips where I can’t be home in an hour. (Plus, my dog needs me, kind of like Tabs!) I’ll leave it up to you and El Hub to travel so that I can live vicariously through you! 🙂

Congratulations, grandmama! Very excited for you, and I’m sure you’ve already got lots of plans to spoil that grandbaby to bits. Boy or a girl? Or is it gonna be a surprise?

Funny you should mention that about Tabs because I swear the last trip we took (we went to Hawaii last June) he seemed relieved that we were out of his hair, LOL!

I’m so not a pink, girly, girl. Black, gray, black and more black. Maybe some blue or burgundy or green. But black. That’s my color. I have to admit, I did splurge on these in the charcoal gray. https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/jslides-aprie-embroidered-sneaker-women/4619308?origin=keywordsearch&keyword=JSlides+Aprie+Embroidered+Sneaker+%28Women%29

It’s not too chunky feeling, I can walk in them easily and I’m old and klutzy. I’m between sizes and originally ordered the smaller size then went up a half size so my big toe wouldn’t rub. So far I haven’t tripped over my toes.
This is the other pair I had to have. Just a word of warning, I sprayed them with Scotch-Guard and the gold got a bit blurry in spots. https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/keds-x-rifle-paper-co-queen-anne-sneaker-women/4736403?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=NINE%20IRON

Since we’re swapping Nordstrom loves, I have to share this dress I have my eye on. I haven’t bought myself anything in ages (mostly because I keep thinking I’m going to lose that last 10 pounds on baby weight, but at this point I’m like f*ck it, LOL), and I have a thing to go to next week and don’t have anything to wear other than black stretchy pants and one pair of Levi’s.

OK, I hate to be an enabler when it comes to spending money, but that dress is really affordable. And cute. No wait, with the right accessories it will be HOT! And it looks comfortable, too. A huge plus in my mind. I say get it. If you lose that last 10 the dress will still look good on you.
Not to bum you out, because everyone is different. (There were women in my gym complaining because they were skinnier and lost their boobs after pregnancy. As I rolled my eyes and silently cried into my locker.) But I never saw my pre-pregnancy number on the scale again. Got within 5, but no closer. Recently I got called on being pre-diabetic and cut way back on sugar and simple carbs and it seems to be the only thing that’s been working for me. That and going to France for vacation, because every time I’m there even though I eat a ton I still lose weight. Lots of it. Magic French food!

Appreciate the push because I may or may not have pulled the trigger on the rust-colored dress. ? I wanted it in black but it wasn’t available in my size, gah! I figure I can wear it with the brown Sam Edelman over-the-knee boots I bought a few seasons ago. Not sure what to do with the jacket situation though, hmm…

I have a feeling that getting back to the pre-baby number is only gonna happen if I train hard for a big race or get very strict about food. The idea of either makes me miserable. LOL Eh, if it happens it happens, if it doesn’t, that’s cool too.

And girl, I’m sorry to hear about your sugar numbers. It’s a complete change in diet and I feel you, it’s tough! Has your skin changed yet? One good side note I noticed about cutting sugar when I had gestational diabetes was that my skin got really clear.

OK, sneaker fan… Do you happen to have a method for cleaning the base of the sneaker? You know, that strip at the bottom that’s typically white? I have a pair of Vans (my ASAP cat ones) which have a white area at the bottom of the sneaker and it’s gray now. Do I just throw them in the wash?

I bought the Adidas Neo in pink – saw someone wearing them and had to be a copycat because they were so cute – but they just didn’t work for my weird bony narrow feet – yay Nordstrom return policy. I recommend the Sam Edelman ballet flats – I own like six pairs – they don’t last very well but they are extremely comfortable and don’t get stinky.

Your body will never be the same, no matter what the number on the scale is. Your bones move in late pregnancy and they don’t move back. Your shoulders, waist and hips will always be wider and your boobs will always be lower. You grew a human, then fed her from your body. That’s beautiful and so are you.

You’ll be stunned to hear that the pink suede Nikes are my fave. I once designed a custom pair of pink Nike Shox on their site. They’re now my “mow the lawn” sneakers because they’re quite old. 🙂

You still have the sheen of youth on you. In a few years, it won’t just be tennis shoes. They’ll have to be the specific brand and style of running shoe that won’t make your hips/knees hurt. HAHA! As much as I like the look of the pink suede Nikes, I know I wouldn’t be able to wear them for long. Sad, but true. 🙂
