A Slightly Nervous Makeup and Beauty Blogger

February 27th, 2010 by Karen 31 Comments

What it do, ladies? Right now Tabs, El Hub and I are watching the news and waiting to find out if a tsunami will hit Hawaii (ETA soon).

Yes, that felt about as strange to type as it probably was to read.

Doing my best not to worry, but I am a little nervous… I’m browsing the web to keep my mind occupied. Care to keep me company?

UPDATE 2:32PM PST: It looks like Hawaii has been lucky so far. The first waves generated by the earthquake have passed through the Hawaiian Islands with no signs of damage. Still watching…

Hope things don’t get ugly in Hawaii! I think I saw somewhere that it was supposed to hit around 4pm, but I didn’t see if it meant 4 our time (central) or 4pm Hawaii time! 🙁

Hope all are okay in Hawaii… thankfully there’s been a few hours’ warning, so people can evacuate/prepare. Have you seen pix of the quake in Chile? OMG. Anyway, good thoughts to you and yours. And Tabs, of course.

I’m all too familiar with that waiting feeling right now. We’re still waiting to hear from half our family in Santiago. Since power lines, phone lines, and roads are still out, our other relatives in Santiago haven’t even been able to reach them yet. 🙁

      Hi Sole,

So scary. I’ve got you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I hope they’re all okay.

Thanks, Karen. You are too sweet. We finally found out about our relatives about two hours ago, and they are all safe and well. We still haven’t been able to talk to them because the phone lines are still down, but the family members we’ve been in contact with were finally able to get a hold of them and reported back to us that everyone is okay. It’s been a loooong day, but at least we finally got some good news. Good news with the cancellation of the HI tsunami warning as well. 🙂

I’m glued to the tv too worried about ohana. Decided that this was a special occasion worthy of Chanel Legende. You know what? I don’t love it! There. I’ve said it. It kind of clumps up and I’ve had to reach for lip balm because it seems to be drying my lips rather than moisturizing them. Unless it gets better as I wear it the rest of today and tomorrow, it is going back to Nordstrom.

Glad to hear that the warning in Hawaii has been lifted. When I heard the news last night, I even told my sis who is living by the coast in East Malaysia, not to go to the beach today (it’s Sunday over here already). Probably I got a bit too worried but seeing the map on CNN….it was like everything facing the Pacific could be at risk at that moment.

On another note, 100% Pure came up with their makeup line! Have you tried them, Karen?

I heard about the warnings yesterday night (it’s Sunday here already) and it was kinda scary since most of our neighbouring countries (I’m in Peninsular Malaysia) were on alert. I pray that they’re okay.

Thank goodness your family is okay. Here’s to hoping it’ll stay that way too. 🙂

On the other hand, the miniature NYC creeped me out a bit. Tilt-Shift photography does that to me. Heehee.

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
