A Cali Kinda Christmas

December 25th, 2011 by Karen 69 Comments

Hi, cutie. Hope you’re having a great night. Just a few holiday pictures from my parents’ house.

You know me… Couldn’t keep my hands off the camera for long.

Posing with a mango and the Christmas grub

My brother brought these egg tarts

Ham for the fam

My mom made enough mac salad for a small army

Pancit, a Filipino noodle dish

Me and my mom

One of my bro’s tattoos

Hey, lil’ bro

A few neighborhood yards really get into the spirit

Too. Much. Good. Food.

I shouldn’t still be hungry but I am. Oh, well. Only one thing to do about that (eat!). 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

My brother had a new girlfriend who is vegan, so they ended up making the Christmas dinners for us and our parents, quite delish. Vegetarian sushi, gingersalad, soup, green thai curry, thai salad wraps and cinnemon icecream with warm apples and pear. And loads of munchies!

That sounds really, REALLY good. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to learn how to cook a few vegan food dishes, and I’ve spent the last few days drooling over vegan food blogs.

How many siblings do you have? Is it just you and your bro?

I have 5 brothers, and I am the only girl 🙂 I guess that’s why I started so late on the whole beauty and make-up thing, my mom was way too busy to make time for such frivolities to begin with and on top of that I would have much rather been a boy myself :p I refused to were dresses, girly colors and demanded my hair to be cut short, but I gave up my dream on being just like a boy when I found out that I was unable to climb in lamp posts or kick a ball (in Europe soccer is not a girl’s thing like in the US).

And the vegan thing was really good 🙂 we are vegetarians ourselves, but unfortunately I just can’t imagine life without cheese, milk, butter and eggs but no harm in trying out some nice recipes every now and than!

The neighbors are no joke when it comes to lights. Usually my dad does an elaborate set up on the roof, but he didn’t get around to doing it this year.

Here’s a scoop of the pancit along with a lemon wedge and green onion!

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
