A TABBY IN SEPHORA

“Hello,” the sales associate said as Tabs entered the store. “Can I help you find something?”

“Meow…” Tabs replied, a little unsure. The sales associate smiled expectantly. Tabs knew that he wanted something to brighten his fur, but these stores were always so overwhelming to him. So many rows and rows and aisles and stacks of products taller than him. He didn’t know where to start.

The associate nodded. Tabs, as if on auto-pilot, moved deeper into the store, pulled by an unseen force. Fur brighteners, fur brighteners, fur brighteners, he reminded himself, trying to stay focussed.

Around him were dozens of displays with sparkling glass vials, vibrant posters and trays filled with pigmented products. A mix of perfumes filled the air.

Cats and cat ladies walked up and down the aisles, exploring the many treasures. Many chatted with sales associates. “This one is great for soft paws,” he overheard one of the associates say. She was standing beside a husky Russian Blue Tabs recognized from his neighborhood.

Tabs stopped in front of a display placed at cat eye level. New Urban Decay Fabulous Feline Fur Brightener! it read. “Meow,” he purr-chirped. Yes!

The display showed that it was available in eight colors. He saw Orange Tabby, Siamese, Tortie, and yes! Tabby too!

He pawed at the small boxes, looking for the shade, but there were none to be found. Shoot, he thought, I think they’re out.

“Meow?” he asked the nearest sales associate.

“Let me check,” she said, heading behind the counter. “Yeah, those have been really popular lately. It’s weird, a seal-point Ragdoll came in yesterday and purchased all of the ones in the Tabby shade we had in stock.”

Choupette! Tabs immediately thought. That cat was always trying to sabotage him.

“I’m sorry,” the sales associate said, “it looks like we’re completely out, but I can order one for you if you’d like.”

“Meow-rrow,” Tabs said. Yes, please. That would be great. There had to be a reason Choupette didn’t want Tabs to get his paws on that shade. A good reason, indeed.

–TO BE CONTINUED–

Rise and shine, morning glory. 🙂 Happy caturday!

Did you do anything fun last night? We pretty much took it easy out here, buuut I did see kittens.

Yup, after dinner we stopped by a local shopping center (I needed ice cream), and the pet food store there had three black and white kitten siblings up for adoption.

I seriously considered bringing all three of them home…

In other news, we watched a fantastic WWII miniseries this week on Netflix called Generation War. It’s from the German perspective (English subtitles), which we don’t see a lot out here, about a group of five young friends and what happens to them during the war. Highly recommended.

Whatever you’re up to this weekend, I hope it’s grand. I’ll talk to you soon.

When my son was born years ago, I went from hair halfway down my back to 1 and 1/2 inches long. It was easier to take care of, but it shocked my friends.

Oh and the shortest my hair has ever been was this bowl type bob when I was younger. It was ridiculously short (done by a barber mind you!!) and since adults were in charge of me and my haircuts at the time, they thought it’d be a good idea to have the barber completely remove my sideburns…so not only did I look like a boy wearing girl clothes for months but my hair looked like a wig I’d put on my head without any sideburns! Good times 😀

Can you believe in my 27 years I have never bough anything from a Sephora store? And up until last week I had not bough anything from Sephora. Granted my closest sephora is like 2 hours away but everything I was there i felt guilty about spending and felt I got better deals from other online places, but since drugstore prices have rise so much and i am more into makeup now on my late 20s I have finally caved in and made my purchase last week 😛

I just started my New Years resolution… nearly 8 months late! haha but better late than never, right? 😀 I formed a workout and program for myself last week and have been very diligent and motivated about keeping to it. My inspiration? Jeans. Since my boyfriend’s mom is Brazilian, I decided to take a peak into South American fashion and discovered Brazilian jeans. I’m kind of a skeptic, however the models had phenomenal bodies and motivated me to get squattin! Wish me luck haha

Hi Karen!! I was born and raised in Lansdowne, PA. It’s a suburb of Philadelphia. A lot of the scenes from the movie, Silver Linings Playbook were filmed there. Love that movie and I love Bradley Cooper. He is also from Pennsylvania. The longest I worked for a company is 8 years. I worked for a place that made audio and video systems. Finally, a store that I love visiting is Lord & Taylor. I believe they’re an East coast thing, so you probably have never heard of it. I like going in every now and then, and seeing what is new. It’s a little like Nordstrom, but not as high end. Thanks for having this giveaway!! Ciao Bella!!

Until I was 11, I had long hair past my knees – I decided I wanted to cut it really short, like chin length. Turns out, my hair is super curly, but it wasn’t really noticeable because it was long and weighed down. It turned out really, really poorly. :/ I might have the confidence now to rock a huge curly short ‘do, but not in sixth grade! I haven’t cut my hair since, it was such a traumatic experience.

He’s still a little shy but right now he’s up in the window getting some fresh air. The hubs and I have only had Siamese cats before – four of them. Our last one died several months ago and was my husband’s cat. I hope that this one will be MY cat.
I was born in Middletown, NY. Our family moved frequently due to my father’s job and when I was 11 we ended up in Middletown, NJ.

I went on a first date this Friday, and then it turned into a second date the day after that, and then a third date the night after that! Now I’m going to take a break and reflect on things so I don’t become that girl who’s on him like glue. While I’ve dated/had relationships here and there, I’m a predominantly single woman, but this is the first time in my life I had a crush on someone/was admiring them from a distance, and then everything fell into place.

Everything about this weekend screams “moving too fast”, but for once in my life, I’m riding the wave instead of letting it roll past me. And I have no regrets about that 🙂

In what way is Tabs like Sephora? Neither would likely give me the time of day when I enter the room. Honestly, the store staff here is awful.

The shortest my hair ever was, was against my will. I came home from summer camp as a child with a knot in my hair my mother decided to cut out, along with the rest of my hair. I looked and felt like a boy. It was the shortest pixie cut. She thought it was “cute”. Short hair suits HER face, not my round one. I was made fun of and tortured over it at school. Teachers looked at me with pity when I came in after the summer. I’m not exaggerating in the slightest when I say it was traumatic. I’ve had few and very far between haircuts from other people since, and my hair currently reaches my waist. Cutting more than a few inches at a time sends me into a full blown panic attack >.<

The shortest I’ve had my hair is a chin length bob. I went to get my hair trimmed (below the shoulders) at a Paul Mitchell school and had to go w/ a different student. He messed up on one side and cut it too short (“oops, I always do that! sorry!”) and it ended up being much shorter than I anticipated. He kept trying to even it out until I asked him to stop. My friend said I looked like Dora the Explorer =/ LOL

Eventually I grew it out into an asymmetrical bob (after getting it fixed by an actual hair stylist).

I actually always enjoy visiting the grocery store – Kroger to be exact. Good produce, decent prices and if I go to the nice one I feel like I’m actually doing something relaxing. I almost never enjoy Walmart because things are always out of stock, the dairy and produce is questionable, and it just is gross. :X

No surprise, I always enjoy shopping at Sephora! I love to see the latest greatest, and I love the ability to test and swatch all the glorious lipsticks!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
