7 Lip Looks

July 22nd, 2008 by Karen 19 Comments

OH. SO. EASY. Now get your mind out of the gutter, dirty birdy. I’m talking about lip looks! A new lipgloss or lipstick shade is the easiest way to switch up your makeup look. Red, pink, coral, gold — the possibilities are endless for the canvas that is yo’ sexy pucker. 🙂 Try a few of these looks on for size, won’t cha?

  • Lip Look: Chanel Equinoxe Glossimer Lipgloss
“Two coats of Equinoxe Glossimer layered on top of MACs Syrup lipstick give me what I like to call ‘fight the power’ glow. A product with purple and gold flecks may not sound appropriate for the workplace, but Equinoxe is subtle enough for most office environments.”
  • Lip Look: Avon Glazewear in Juicy Apricot, On Sale Now
“Not quite a lipstick, not quite a gloss, this shimmery peachy-coral shade delivers shiny, sheer color that feels light on my lips. Avon calls it feather-light and says the non-sticky texture has to do with their Color-gel formula.”
  • Lip Look: Chanel Rouge Hydrabase Leopard Lipstick
“This leopard deserves her big jungle cat name. She’s an awesome, semi-matte golden coral, and she makes me look and feel ready to pounce! Even though I’m looking pretty tow up right now in my stretchy pants (had to have ice cream after dinner) and oversized UC DAVIS ALUMNI t-shirt, with Leopard on my lips I still feel hot enough to stalk unsuspecting man prey.”
  • Lip Look: Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Bamboo Pink
“Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Bamboo Pink is a cool-toned pink with silver shimmer, and it’s a perfect, wearable shade for days when you just want a lil’ somethin-somethin on your lips but aren’t in the mood to spend too much time on your look.”
  • Lip Look: Crushing on Three Custom Colors Papaya Crush!
“If you’re color shy but have been wanting to try a cute coral lipgloss, Papaya Crush should be a good way to get your feet (lips?) wet.”
  • Lip Look: Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited in RD 165N
“Gloss Unlimited RD 165N has a light orange scent and feels thinner than Clinique’s Cherry Bomb. Despite its consistency, Gloss Unlimited didn’t dry out my lips when I used it on Friday. I had to apply it a few times throughout the day, but because of how moisturizing it is, I didn’t mind.”
  • Lip Look: Flirt! Glamourazzi Extreme Lip Lacquer in 07 Spotlight
“Spotlight is one of three lip colors ($12 each) in Flirt’s Glamourazzi Extreme Lip Lacquer line. A peachy bronze with a touch o’ sparkle, Spotlight has staying power and lots of shine. I applied it before leaving for work this morning and didn’t have to reapply for four hours!”

Pretty Lippies

The gods o’ speed were on my side this afternoon. I just got back from a run and felt like I was flying! Other than my run, today was ok. I was busy at work doing a lot of number stuff, which my brain finds quite exhausting.

What was the best part of your day?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

It’s really funny that you posted this today. I was just fretting about my lack of lipstick. I have tons of gloss but I shy away from bold lips because I’m never sure what looks good with my fair skin. I do have Bamboo Pink, which I wear allll the time after getting it as a GWP. Thanks for giving me the extra kick to get out there and find some great lipstick!

    Hi Asta,

🙂 You’re welcome. The journey to find a great lipstick is so much fun (and the best part is that it’s ongoing). Have you tried any of the MAC Viva Glam lippies? They are SO FAB!

    CUTE! I want them all!

The best part of today was going to sephora with my mom and getting Stilla hi shine lipstick in Louise, and urban decay heavy metal glitter liner in glam rock (silver)…I am leaving for vegas in 10 days and I am goign to go all out one night with a heavy smokey eye (hello Kim K) lashes, and figure out how to use the silver liquid in there somehow! Any hints?

I got a hella CUTE black and white bikini today at Macys for 7$, and a super cute black little dress that had a busted strap for $17!

    Damn my day rocked!

    How is your night going?

I have Chanel’s Equinoxe…I absolutely ADORE it. As a matter of fact…I haven’t worn it in a long time so you reminded me of my luv for it. I’m all over it tomorrow!

    Hi KK,

Don’t you love bargains? Lucky you for finding the $7 bikini! SWEET!

Hmm, how about doing a 60’s inspired eye, with pale frosty shade, then do a really thick line of black gel liner on the top lash line (cat eye style), and then add the silver liquid liner on top of the black gel liner right near the lash line? I’ve done this before and it really opens up the eye!

My night’s been mellow. I’m watching (LOL, more like reading) a French movie called La Vie en Rose. The neighbor’s tabby is hanging out with me, too!

I like the second picture the best. I think I will try lippy instead of gloss, on my brown-skinned self all lip gloss ends up looking the same, LOL!

The best part of my day was packing for my upcoming trip to Chicago; I got a scholarship and am going to a convention to receive it! 🙂

    HMMM. I’m sorely tempted now.
But I saw that Elizabeth Arden has made some sheer spf 15 lippies and I think I’ll check those out first (they are actually available in Belgium, what a miracle!)

Karen – lovely lovely lips! Can i ask how do you take such a good lip pic? I struggle capturing the shimmer and trueness of the colour when I do lip photos?

    Hi Rowena,

Girl… it’s a numbers game for me. I end up taking a lot of pictures. Eventually one of them comes out okay!

    Hi KK,

LOL, those lucky pups! The cat ended up staying over and he woke us up at in the wee hours of the morning wanting to party. Yeah, we had to gently suggest that he party outside!

Have a good day. BTW, so random, but are you from the Bay Area? I don’t know a lot of people outside of the Bay that use the world “hella.” 🙂 It’s a word I grew up using, LOL, and it’s still part of my vocab…

I’ve just started wearing lipstick. I used to be strictly a gloss person, then I realized what I was missing out. I think I always felt like I was playing in my mom’s makeup when I wore lipstick.

I’ve been obsessed with coral colors this summer. It’s so easy to wear with some bronzer and mascara and you look awesome. With that said, that Chanel color in the pic is gorgeous!

I know, I’ll get one this afternoon, I’ll let you know how I like it.

I did. It was great. I still can’t believe I’m having so much fun going running. I’m going again tomorrow (friday) and Sunday. And then from Monday til Friday there’s athletics camp and I’m training the youngest (age 6) group. It’s going to be so much fun! And I’ll finally get my legs tanned. wohoo!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
