3 Things I Love About Makeup

September 16th, 2011 by Karen 27 Comments

1. I love that it washes off

Halloween in April? Why not. I love how with makeup you can get wacky with colors and looks, but you don’t have to commit to anything permanently. On any given day, you can be a princess, a warrior, a warrior princess, a go-go dancing alien vampire — whomever you want to be (barring the oppressive realities of workplace etiquette).

2. I love how it boosts my confidence

It’s amazing what a little concealer, mascara, brow filler and gloss can do. Even with minimal makeup on, I feel myself holding my head up higher.

3. I love how certain colors remind me of great memories and mark important times in my life

MAC Paramount will always be my college lipstick (I even wore it on graduation day), and I wore MAC Spite Lipglass almost every day to my first real job in the big, bad city. MAC Lychee Luxe will always be the color that my mom introduced me to, and MAC Woodwinked will always remind me of Milan. 🙂

How about you? What are three things you love about makeup?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Oh, yeah…

TGIF!

I love that it always FITS! Well, usually fits. Sort of fits. Sometimes fits?

There’s always *some*thing that fits, at least 😛

And I love that it’s small – a red lipstick is just as much of a confidence-booster as a pair of heels, but SO much easier to tote around until the end of the workday.

I totally agree with number 2. It’s amazing how mascara alone can make me, a shorty, feel several inches taller 🙂

I also love the creativity and inspiration it can draw out of me!

Makeup is like a therapy to me! It’s my little escape from the stresses of bringing up a kid, running between sending her to school, picking her up, then shopping, for food, that is. The list goes on.

    Others…. similar to yours.

And I like the photo of all the different hues of pink lipsticks, and it’s Lychee Luxe?? I think?

Like Rae, I like that it fits. Any size/shape/gender/ethnicity will be able to find something

I like that there is a wide range from drugstore to designer, something for almost every wallet.

And my favorite thing about makeup is how it creates a bond between myself and my friends. I love seeing what looks they come up with and sharing what I do.

Like you, I love that it’s not a huge commitment. I can put whatever I feel like on my face, knowing i can take it off right away if I don’t like it.

I love that it brings out the better features on my face (clean skin, big eyes).

I love how putting on makeup makes me aware of my face. I am so familiar with the slant of my slight droopy eyebrows, the contour of my eyes, etc. when I do others’ makeup, it amazes me how the difference in people’s face can be felt, and how it changes the way you put on makeup. It’s just something very intimate.

I love that makeup gives you a daily opportunity to be creative and artistic.

I love how just the right color can immediately alter your mood and boost your confidence.

And, I absolutely love the fact that you can use makeup to enhance what you love about your face, and downplay what is maybe not your favorite feature.

TGIF indeed! i went out and sat at starbucks for an hour. just to read and have some iced coffee.

i love that i can indulge my wannabe artist w/ makeup!
it also makes me feel put together and dare i say it, grown up!
plus — putting on makeup in the morning is the perfect way to wake up: to some “me” time.

    1. No matter how awake I am, without at least mascara applied I look sleepy – so I love how makeup allows my outside to reflect my inside…….

    2. I like that I can change it up to being subtle to extreme, to dainty to vampy depending on the occasion.

    3. I love that the collection is never ending, forever changing just like life should be.

    1. I love that it’s art.

I feel like, every time I create a cool eye shadow look, like I’m painting on a canvas. After all, both requires good color theory, blending, palettes and brushes.

    2. I love how it improves the way I look.

I’m already beautiful, but makeup makes me beautiful even moreso.

    3. I love how much variety there is.

I want to look dark and smoky, and I can do it. I want to look bright and cheerful, I can do it.

    1. I love how it can transform any face into anything one can think of, from a pin up model to an alien creature.

    2. I love how it really fosters my creativity.

    3. I love how it gives us beauty bloggers SO much to to write and talk about :p.

TGIF! Luckily, I only had one class today, so I was done at 9 AM.

    1) I’m not one for super dramatic makeup, but I love subtle the subtle enhancement I get from a bit of eyeliner, mascara, and neutral eyeshadow.
    2) I love changing my nail polish to fit my mood!
    3) I love all the colors that are available. I love colorful things!

I also love that Mario picture! And I definitely understand the way you associate colors with events or parts of your life. OPI Royal Rajah Ruby is probably my mom’s favorite nail polish ever, and it reminds me of her every time I wear it!

I love how creative one can be with makeup. Hundreds of years ago, I’m sure that wearing any sort of makeup would be referred to, under most diagnostic systems as effing nuts.

I love the idea of makeup, the organization of palettes, the happiness I feel when getting something limited edition :p

    Have a good weekend, Karen!

I love getting creative with makeup… I can just relax, let loose, and have fun!

I love how wearing makeup makes me feel: polished, poised, and ready for anything.

Most of all, I love the bond I share with other beauty junkies who understand! 8)

I love how it’s so versatile! MAC Fast Play is basically my everyday lipstick for college, but just a little of it looks great with heavy eye makeup…on me, anyway 😉 I also love how it draws attention to my best features…I love how great my lips look with some lipstick 😀

Daisy! I wonder what her to go lippie would be?

I love how much fun makeup is in a serious, cold world. I think it’s great that people have a way to escape and enjoy the little things in life, even if the little things are a tube of lipstick and a bottle of nail polish.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
