$2.41 Million iPhone 3G Kings Button: Recession Killer?

January 10th, 2009 by Karen 32 Comments

How long before these shiny $2.41 million bling busters start appearing in the hands of the uber-spoiled teens on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16?

Brainchild of famed Austrian jeweler Peter Aloisson, who evidently missed the memo on the economy, the bedazzling Kings Button sports a solid 18 carat yellow gold, white gold and rose gold back panel and trim. A ring of 138 brilliant cut diamonds line the frame, and the home button? — a blinding 6.6 carat mega-diamond, aka the Kings Button, KAPOW!

“Oh, yeah, El Hub… I forgot to mention the other thing I wanted for Christmas, but you can get it for me now.” LOL!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

What the *&%$? Are they kidding with this thing? It’s like the $1 million Victoria’s Secret bra. Ridiculous.

    Hi Shefali,

I know, right? I thought at first it had to be some sorta prank… but this is REAL!

I would be terrified of dropping it or losing it.

How’s your Saturday going so far?

It’s lovely for the people that can afford it. I personally don’t see the point though, what if the phone breaks? Would you have to pay to get all the diamonds put onto a new phone? What if you lose it?! In my opinion, it’s just another tacky way for people to flaunt that they have money.

I ask you, what’s the good of a phone that a person (or I, anyway) would be terrified of taking out of the house? At least with the blingy bra you don’t have to worry about dropping it or getting mugged for it! 😉

Hey Karen! Saturday is ok so far. Had breakfast, finished watching season one of “The Tudors”, now going to the gym with Hubs. Then doing what I’ve been doing everyday all day this month – studying. Might catch a movie tonight. Little dude is with my parents all day so I can study.

I did haul my rewards from BBR though!! Red Devil and Strawberry Blonde l/g’s, Chignon and All’s Fair l/s’s, and Flip e/s. I allowed myself to spend only $50 (I got more because I B2M’d for the lipsticks). I was so good!!

Oh my gosh. So stupid. Seriously, you can buy some CRAZY nice jewelry with that many diamonds in it. Why waste your time putting it on a phone?! haha

I think the iPhone is nicer without all those jewels and things, it’s more simplistic..and why are all the companies coming out with super expensive stuff NOW, when the majority of people can’t afford it?!

OMG, that’s hilarious! If I had a diamond that big I’d want it on jewelry, LOL!

I used my MAC BBR goodies today! I’m not good with putting looks together like you are, but I wore henna on the lid and into the creases and nylon to highlight my browbones/inner corners. And I used b-babe lipstick, and feeling beauty powder blush. I LOVE henna, it’s not like any other shade I have, and it makes my normally blue eyes look green, which is always fun.

I went to MAC today and got redhead mineralize skinfinish and the 165 (is that right?) brush. I really wanted the blonde skinfinish also but figured I shouldn’t spend that much. They keep raising the prices on those things! I wanted to back to MAC for modesty lipstick because it looked so good on you on halloween, but the 3 counters I went to were out of it! It must be really popular, LOL!

And what do you do with the phone once its technology is considered old and dated? (i.e. in two years)

    Hi Ellery,

I know! And what if you lost a diamond? The phone would look pretty tacky if you had all the bling and you lost one of the gems.

    Hi Shefali,

Oh, nice! I have to B2M soon… got many, many, tubes of concealer sitting around (at least that’s one thing my dark circles are good for, ha!).

How are you liking Red Devil? I ended up passing on it when I was at the counter…

    Hi Hana,

You’re welcome! I’m glad you like the vids. They are fun for me to do so I’ll try doing more in the future. Let me know if there’s a topic (or a dance, ha!) that you want me to cover.

I hope you’re having a lovely weekend so far. Doing anything fun tonight?

    Hi Lindsay,

I’m guessing all this stuff was in the hopper years ago when the economy hadn’t yet fallen into demise.

I just hope it’ll pick up soon. *crosses fingers*

    Hi Tiffany,

Sweet! Glad to hear that you are rockin’ the Henna. I wore some BBR today too (eek, I took off my makeup before I went running this afternoon so I’ll just have to do it again and take pics for a FOTD) with the Brunette MSF, What a Do! l/s and Soft Wave Lipglass.

Are you liking your new brush? I like the shape of the 165’s head!

well, looks like everyone’s gone crazy when economy is down. ex. owners who sell their houses way past their estimation and forced to reduce the price later, etc. That sure sounds to me this iPhone will be doing. Even for the rich people, they make money with their hard work. I don’t think many of them will drop $2.41m for this phone. (even for celebs)

Oh, I’ve watched my super sweet sixteen. Yeah, they’re spoiled. They spent that cold cash their parents have been working for so quickly. I got no resentment for the rich, but a 200 grand for a birthday party? :\

Erm. I’d feel highly uncomfortable having that around me. I’d so break it within a week. I felt uncomfortable enough when I just got my new phone two weeks ago because it was pink. Lol.

And I’d rather spend my money on a new reflex camera 🙂 Well not that I need one now: I got one from my mum yesterday! Wheee!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
