Hard Candy Lash Tinsel Chrome Mascara in Sapphire Makes Lashes Twinkle Like Little Gemstones!

May 12th, 2016 by Jessica Revitte 9 Comments

Hard Candy Lash Tinsel Mascara

I can’t lie, I’m a little “vanilla” when it comes to mascara. When I was getting a new one a few weeks back, I accidentally picked up one in “brown/black” and recoiled the instant I recognized my gaffe. I’ve just always been more of a “blackest black” kind of chick when it comes to these lashes, and I don’t deviate that often.

Not long ago NYX released an immense range of vibrant, affordable colorful mascaras that seem lovely, and the world of glittery mascaras is vast, but I just haven’t been able to part with my precious carbon black hues…

Enter Hard Candy Lash Tinsel Chrome Mascara (about $6 at Walmart), a different, also affordable take on the brand’s already popular glitter mascaras.

Graphite, a metallic aluminum silver, and Sapphire, a deep, luminous gemstone blue, have me changing my tune about shimmery, colorful mascara.

They’re both new shade additions to the existing range, all of which are about $6 each.

“Create futuristic chrome lashes that are fun and flirty with Lash Tinsel Chrome Mascara. The pearl packed formula evenly coats lashes and the comb-like applicator removes any clumps for a professional look every time! Layer over black or a tonal mascara for a more vivid, multi-dimensional look.”

Sapphire is so pigmented that it’s out of this world! Intensely metallic and easy to apply, it would be hard to miss from a mile away.

Hard Candy did a great job with this formula. Sure, it’s unmistakely a mascara, but it feels a bit more liquidy than I’m used to. Coupled with the well-designed brush, we get a fairly flexible product.

So far I’ve used Sapphire in a few different ways:

  • When directly painted on bare lashes (three or four coats will do), Hard Candy Lash Tinsel Chrome Mascara catches the light ever so subtly. From dead on, lashes look like they’re wearing a traditional black mascara; but from the side the light makes lashes look like they’ve been coated with thousands of tiny blue halogen bulbs.
  • When layered over a classic carbon black mascara, it gives lashes much more dimension. This is how I’d apply Sapphire for a night out. The shimmering blue particles are more noticeable against the black base, and the glitter sparkles even brighter when it catches the light.
  • *It can also be applied as a liner!* And guess what, ladies? It lasts just as long as many long-wear liquid liner formulas.

In other words, no wearing off and no flaking. If you want to coordinate your wing with your fluttering lashes, look no further than Sapphire!

What do you think? Do you occasionally venture out into the world of colorful, metallic mascaras, or do you always stick to black?

Well, these are really fun! I’m not usually brave enough for this kind of venture but I think coloured mascara is going to be a real “thing” this summer-YSL are at it too! I’ll have to be brave and try!

These are definitely layering friendly and at a considerably lower price point than YSL you can afford to try it out. 🙂

I normally don’t go for any colored mascara, just brown and black.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
