On a scale of 1-10, with “1” being no big deal and “10” being white hot burning hatred, how much do you hate having your hair in your face?
For me it depends on a few factors, like what I’m doing at the time, and how janky my hair is. Like, if I’ve been working out, and I’m all sweaty and gross, I’m at level 10, because I absolutely cannot stand having any stray strands stuck on my sweaty face, UGH!
I actually have an elaborate pre-workout hair regimen that I’ve followed for the past…well, forever, it seems. What I’ll do is put my hair up in a ponytail, usually with two rubber bands so the ponytail doesn’t loosen and slip out, and then I’ll put on a headband and secure it with no fewer than four bobby pins.
And said ponytail must be placed very specifically. There’s a sweet spot for it. It can’t be too high or too low, because if it’s too high, my hair will whip around and still hit me in my face, and if it’s too low, I can feel it on the back of my neck…which I don’t like, so yeah, the process is kind of intense, but it’s my thing and it works for me. Basically, when I’m exercising, I have to keep my hair far, far away from my sweaty face.
The rest of the time, it doesn’t really bother me when my hair gets in my face, as long as my hair is somewhat clean, and by “somewhat,” I mean that it isn’t too greasy or stinky. For example, when I’m at the end of fourth- or fifth-day hair and it’s oily and smells like fried food, then yeah…it’s annoying, so up it goes.
How about you?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I get that all the time I just hate it so much, my hair is growing so I have flyaways that are driving me nuts completely nuts
Katie says
It’s the worst, especially when my foundation is still wet!
Karen says
Ooh, or when your gloss gets stuck in it!
Kiss & Make-up says
Glad I’m not the only one who hates it! BECAUSE BOY DO I HATE IT! lol 🙂

I hate having hair in my face. When my hair is really clean it gets really fly away and it bothers me when I’m trying to put on mascara. There’s always one or two fly away strands that get mascara on them and then deposit on my face where it shouldn’t be.

Not only do I hate having my hair in my face, but I can’t stand it when other people do the half-ass “brush my hair off my face but not really” gesture. I want to fall off the couch and beg, “what’s the point?! What is the point?! Please, for the love of all things kempt, just push it back behind your ear or shoulder or something!” Aarghhhhh!!!! OK, going to go re-evaluate important things now because my reaction is not reasonable! Lol:)
Jessica says
Can’t stand it. Especially when it sticks to my lips!
Love your lippie by the way. 🙂

A good 10! I’m always pushing my hair away from my face, I can’t stand to have it touch it. It’s a reason I can’t do bangs, and also why I always end up with my hair tucked behind my ears, whatever style I ever try to go for!

I don’t like when my bangs get too long. They keep in getting my eyes and that’s annoying. I think it looks kinda sexy when hair slants over your eyes but I can’t see well with hair in my eyes.

I’m less anal about hair around my face than I am about hair on the back of my neck. The first thing I do when I get home from work is throw it up in a ponytail. Although I am one of those weirdos that wears my hair up to bed. I have pretty long hair and I can’t stand to have it all over the place when I sleep.
Rachel R. says
I put my hair in a pony or braid when I sleep, too. It just gets too hot and messy when it’s down. (My hair is 3/5 of the way down my back.)
Karen says
I pile mine up on the top of my head and put it in a scrunchie. In the morning I have good lift at the roots, and it keeps the hair outta my face.
Rachel R. says
I’ll have to try that. I need all the help with volume that I can get. Even when I cut it short, it just wants to hang there.
Christine says
My hair is getting to the point where it needs to be up when I go to bed…it gets caught in my armpits and it’s the WORST.
Erin says
It really depends. If my hair is behaving and well cut as long as I’m not sweaty or wearing lipgloss, I’m OK, only mildly annoyed. If my bangs are too grown out or I’m sweaty, I better have an elastic with me or I’ll lose my shit. This is why I’m hesitating about bangs again.
Janet Shepherd says
Most of the time it doesn’t bother me – I have fine curly hair, and lots of it. It tends to go in all directions, and is very easily blown about, so I’ve gotten used to it being in my face. Like you, there are times where I just want it up & out of the way. Mainly when it’s hot, or if I’m exercising.
Rachel R. says
Like Nigel Tufnel, I need an 11. I utterly detest having hair in my face. I don’t like it tickling. I don’t like seeing it in my peripheral vision; it’s distracting. I won’t wear bangs, period. Ninety percent of the time, my hair is in a headband, ponytail or bun. If it’s down, it’s clipped back or tucked behind my ears.
Iris says
It’s annoying when my hair gets stuck to my lips when I put fresh lipgloss on but it’s a small price to pay for moisturized lips. 🙂
Christine says
I voted 8 because I have bangs that tend toward shaggy….but I hate when my hair gets caught in my glasses or eyelashes (the trials of having long lashes…) or stuck to my face. If it’s hot or I know I’m going to get sweaty, hair is up in a bun. Ponytail is way too long and heavy. I also pin back my bangs almost any time my hair is pulled back.
Cory says
You be lookin’ fierce with that lip color, Karen!!!

I can not stand my hair in my face at all. And it’s even worse when I’ve done my lipstick all nice and it’s – windy! Plus my hair is at that odd length where it doesn’t look all that good up so .. I’m hoping that once my hair grows it’ll look nice in a ponytail 😛

It depends what i’m doing… if I’m crafting, or cleaning the house, then my hair needs to be out of my face!! Otherwise I’m usually okay with a little hair in my face. But if it gets too annoying you better believe i’m whipping out those bobby pins and pulling it back!! lol.
CrystalCandy says
OMG I hate it, I thought I was the only one!! Glad to know I’m not a freak. LOL
LindaLibraLoca says
8, which is why I usually wear it up. But
I don’t like anything touching my face. Or anyone, with very few exceptions.
Kim says
I’m going with 100. Even slightly long bangs would drive me insane (I realize it’s a short trip – HAHA!). When it’s windy and strands are blowing across my eyes and/or mouth, I really REALLY dislike it. 🙂 I agree with the workout. I require a high pony with everything pulled back and held in place.
Heather Longfellow says
I’m shy so I like having hair in my face. Even when I pull my hair back, I keep some strands in the front out of the ponytail (or whatever). My hair is layered and shorter in the front, so it works. My hair is my Peanuts Linus blanket! I feel more self conscious with a fully bare face. Hope that doesn’t sound too odd.

My hair is always in a high bun, even when I sleep. I have curly wavy messed up below shoulder len hair lol. whether I’m home or not, bun ,bun..bun ..bun.
when I go out (long long time ago, )i let my hair down, 2 min later, nope..ponytail it is. No one has considered a short haircut? I’m thinking about it.
