Wow, it’s getting hot in hair! 🙂
(okay, that was a BAD pun)
Here are a few hot hair tips to keep that coif looking cute.
Products mentioned in the video…
- Garnier Fructis Fortifying Conditioner Body Boost, about $5
- John Frieda Collection Frizz-Ease Heat Defeat Protective Styling Spray, about $5
- TRESemmé FRESHSTART Dry Shampoo, also about $5
Have a great night. I’m just settling down to watch a couple of episodes of Entourage before bed.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
LOL. I love you, Karen. 😀

Love you back, Catherine. 🙂
You are too cute! I have to make a confession. My hair has been in some kind of ponytail or knot every day for the past month or so. I haven’t flat-ironed it, or even so much as blow-dried it for weeks! I usually don’t let myself get into a rut like this, but this quarter has been kicking my butt. Not to mention I can’t afford the salon goodies I used to buy when I walked among the employed. But this video totally inspired to get my butt to Target and try out these affordable products you mentioned! And to reacquaint myself with my poor neglected heat tools! Yay for motivation! Thank you! 😀
Hi Sole,
I went through the hair-in-a-ponytail phase many times when I was a student. One good thing about it is that it gives your coif a break from heat styling, which is always a good thing. 🙂
It sounds like this has been a grueling quarter for you! Are you at least enjoying your classes?
Yeah, my hair has been getting a much-needed break from heat styling, but I’m going to chop it off come summer anyway, so I might as well be abusing the heck out of it. Ha! 😀
I am enjoying my classes, but I got off to a slow start because of a bunch of other stuff I had going on the first week (we only had a week off between winter and spring quarters), so I feel like I’ve been playing catch-up all quarter. We’re halfway through it so I hope I actually catch-up soon!
Love your vids. I am afraid of trying a dry shampoo at the risk of it looking like dandruff but you are tempting me to try this one. I was thinking of taking it with me on my trip in July. I use the TRESemme Heat Styler spray and I think it works great and smells delish.
Have fun with Entourage!

Hi Marisol,
Thanks! 🙂
If you have a good dry shampoo it shouldn’t look like dandruff. The powder should be very fine and should melt right into the hair and roots!
Hope you’re having a nice Saturday so far. Doing anything exciting?
i love your top!!!
Thanks, Lisa! How’s your Saturday going?
You are just freaking adorable, missy. Hahaha, love the video and your hair looks a-ma-zing!

Hi Karen B,
It was one of those rare good hair days!
These tips are great!
Hi Tessa,
Glad you enjoyed this video. 🙂
Great timing for this vid — im drawing a blank as to how to do my hair for the wedding next Saturday! 🙂
Thanks!!!
Hi Nina,
Is it May already? Wow, time is flying!
Have you decided on your makeup look?
Yep it is May already ….
The dress is mostly blue with some coral and yellow in it so im thinking of using Coral Crepe as base, some Deep Truth in the crease and maybe Rule or Coral on the lid. For sure, ill go with Ricepaper for highlight.
Ive packed my MUFE HD Blush in Nip Slip and my MSF in Petticoat. I will most probably buy one of the tokidoki bronzers before we go….
My plan is just a light and breezy summer (because its warmed up here a lot already) evening look …
Another fab video! I’m loving the Fructis Sleek and Shine conditioner right now. It is silicone free but still manages to de-frizz and tame my crazy hair.
Isn’t the scent nice, too? I love how light and refreshing it is. 🙂
Love this video, you are so funny! I think Im going to try that protective spray, I blow dry and flat iron ALOT so that will definitely help me.Thanks!
You’re welcome. 🙂 Let me know if ya need any other drugstore hair recommendations. I’m always happy to help!
I really love that you keep your videos nice and short. It’s hard to watch most 10 minute videos on YouTube when they can be summed up to 3-4 minutes.
.-= Katie’s last blog post… I have really long hair. =-.
Hi Katie,
Happy to hear you found this useful!
hey karen, where’d you get those earrings from?!
Hi Aisha,
I got them at H&M about a month ago.
Dry shampoo is literally my lifesaver. I have strawberry blonde hair naturally but I like to amp it up to a sultry auburn and that will extend the life of my color. I didn’t know Tresemme made a dry shampoo. Oh the money I’ll save from switching to that as opposed to Oscar Blandi or my faithful Bumble to Bumble hair powder.

Oh yeah. I’m glad to see more dry shampoos in the drugstore. Gotta love the $5 price tag.
Looks like there’s a trip to target in my future!

I’ve definitely gonna have a beautiful hair for this tips.
Love the vid!!!

Hi:)!! Do you do videos on youtube? If you do, what is your username?
xoxo,
Jay- Jay 🙂
Hey Karen!
I just recently came across your blog and I gotta say, I’M HOOKED! I’ve been reading through your posts and I can’t wait to try out, ahm… everything?!
Of all things, your MAC-addiction was the thing that caught my eye the most. I always heard about MAC, its greatness and all, but the price always shot me down a bit and I never got down to actually buying it. But, alas!, I am ready to make the investment and buy those g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s eyeshadows (always thought the matte ones are all the good things in life, embodied in one little container). So I have a question: are there any MAC shades you recommend? I know all of them are great, but which ones are the “you-will-not-be-able-to-live-without-this” type?
Thanks so much, keep rocking! 🙂
