Not yet! But El Hub just got some Wahl clippers from Costco and has been going on and on about how they’re allegedly goof-proof, and how I should totally trim his hair for him, and I’ll do just fine…
To that I say “ruh-roh!” ? There are many hair-associated tasks I do fairly well… Hello, I’ve waxed my own lady bits (too much info?!). But none of my at-home barbering attempts have gone anyplace good.
I’ll let you know if I accidentally (or perhaps subconsciously) carve a cat face on the side of his head. ?
How about you? Have you cut any hair in quarantine yet?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF!

I’ve been trimming my own ends for two years now. So, I’m a bit amused by how helpless some people seem in this department. I looked at multiple you tube videos with people who have a similar hair type as mine. Than looked shears up on Sally’s website. That weekend went to the store bought the shears, trimmed my hair and was happy with the results. That being said I haven’t cut off more than a trim, no big chop or anything in between.. I want to try the color conditioners that are out now.

Juuuust my fringe! Hubby has great mildly curly hair that he’s always shaped and texturized himself so we we’re doing OK.

During quarantine I’ve just dyed my hair and my sister’s. Let’s just say the results weren’t great neither terrible, I’ll still try to do some corrections on hers.
Before I had cut my hair but nothing really big.
About cutting El Hub’s hair, I’d say to try it. Worst case scenario he gets a buzz cut, just go slow and with the biggest clippers available.

Not yet! I have the scissors my stylist SIL recommended and the you-tube video for bang trims. My toddler and I both need bang trims desperately!

Yup, I cut my son and hubby’s hair with clippers. It is pretty easy. Check out Brad Mondo on YouTube. He recently posted a great video on how to cut men’s hair.

I’ve been cutting my husband’s hair for more than 30 years now. These days it’s really easy because he doesn’t have much hair left! However I do also clean up his ears and eyebrows.

Yes!! I have scissor cut my husbands hair twice now, he has very thick wavy hair. I had never cut his hair before, but it turned out great! He wants me to do it going forward even after our SIP is over!

My husband’s hair yep. It looks so good we are gonna keep it up!

My husband really wanted me to cut his hair, but I put it off for a while. I finally did it a couple a weeks ago. There was no blood shed and he was happy with the results. Salons just opened back up today in my state so his next appointment is with a professional!
I found the tutorial on The Small Things Blog on YouTube very helpful.
I’m just letting my hair grow free for now. I barely been doing any heat styling so it’s in decent shape. I’ll probably go for a cut an color in a couple of months.
Happy Friday!

Similar story! 6 weeks ago, my husband looks at me and says “I’m going to need a haircut.” I nodded, and I’m like, “oh, huh … Who’s going to cut your hair then?” He just looked at me. So the next day or so, the Small Things blog posted the cute video on how to cut a man’s hair, and it didn’t seem too difficult. We set him up with a tablecloth around his neck, and a big mirror in front of him, and it turned out to be … kind of fun! His hair came out great, actually!

A couple of weeks ago, I thinned my hair. It was so heavy, I was having neck pain and headaches. I ordered a pair of thinning shears from Sally Beauty, watched several YouTube videos, and took the plunge. (With lots of moral support and an extra pair of eyes from Mom!) Need I tell you how terrified I was!?! But when I got to the salon Wednesday, my stylist said I had done such a good job, she wouldn’t have known I had done it myself if I hadn’t told her.
You can totally do it, Karen. Seriously, think of all the hard things you’ve successfully dealt with in the past weeks. A little haircut is no problem for you. (Unless El Hub is a big whiny baby about his hair. Then give that chore a hard pass. But I’ve never gotten a big whiny baby vibe about him, lol.)

So far the only thing I’ve done with my hair is dye it. The only thing is that the drugstore hair dyes don’t last that long. Used to cut my bangs, but just been letting my hair grow long.

I’ve been going at my ends little by little because my hair is so fine and frazzled I look like a gray haired, witch who will scare all the neighborhood children. Also Dear Husband asked me to trim the hair on his neck and around his ears. And his neck and ears are still intact. I actually like Dear Husband with longer hair. It’s so soft and slightly wavy. Sigh. I used to cut his hair all the time when we were first married, to save money. But after a while he said I took too long and he found an affordable barber.
I used to use Wahls to clip my horses before a show and in the winter time. My mare Lucy was patient and stood very still. My gelding on the other was a fidgety, head bobbing, idiot. If Dear Husband wanted a military buzz cut, I’m pretty sure I could do that after all the horse practice. But an actual hair cut that looks like something, I’d rather use barber scissors.

I’m a brand-new subscriber here. This is my first official comment! I haven’t cut my own hair, but my mom’s trimmed my bangs. Here in Ohio, salons just opened up today. I would want to give them 2 weeks to ensure that they’re operating safely, and my favorite stylist is only in on Thursdays, so the earliest I’d feel comfortable getting a professional haircut is June 4.

I cut myself some long side bangs from a you tube video early on. I’ll have my regular lady fix them up eventually but I’m pretty happy with them! I made sure I could still tuck them behind my ear. I needEd the weight off my side part and I think I did a decent job? My husband’s been cutting my sons hair with clippers and I cut my husbands….good enough for now ✂️

Not only during quarantine- I always cut my own hair! ? I also do my own highlights or root touch up. My husband cuts his own hair (not much left anyway ?) and my husband cuts also our sons hair!

I’ve cut my own hair for years. In fact, I’ve only had a few professional cuts in my whole life, and people used to actually come up to me and ask me who did my hair! I still get compliments at least weekly on my hair cut/style, (well, back in the “before-times” when I was actually out and about in public) so I guess it’s ok. I’ve never been afraid to do it and I don’t really recall messing it up too much except just cutting it shorter than I intended it to be. So the quarantine hasn’t changed my hair cutting routine in the least.

My husband buzzed his hair and then I just clean up around the ears & the back. Usually he goes someplace but salons are still closed here. He trimmed the back of mine today so I can avoid a mullet! I usually have a pixie and go every 3 weeks. My last cut was March 7. He did a good job & it feels much better. Luckily I’m going back to work tomorrow (YAY!) so I probably won’t end up dyeing my hair out of boredom

My husband cut his own hair and then cut and bleached mine. I’m going blue next!
