REPLICA Beach Walk Perfume, by Maison Martin Margiela: The Scent of Salt Water and Sweet Freedom

June 5th, 2015 by Karen 20 Comments

I still got mad love for ya, Byredo Gypsy Water, but you’ve been temporarily usurped by REPLICA Beach Walk.

At least for summer.

If a walk along the beach could fit in a jar, the jar would smell like Maison Marin Margiela’s REPLICA Beach Walk.

OK, yeah…that didn’t make a whole lot of sense, but you know what I mean. 🙂 It’s light, beachy and breezy, like Bobbi Brown’s Beach but slightly sweeter (and without the sunscreen notes, which I don’t really mind because it reminds me of the beach).

And don’t you just love the old-timey apothecary bottle with the textured label (it’s 100% cotton)?

Officially, REPLICA Beach Walk has notes of bergamot, pink pepper, lemon, ylang-ylang, coconut milk, heliotrope, musk, cedar and benzoin (which is compared to light camphor). It’s described as pure, deep and blissful.

Unofficially, it smells like your favorite cozy boyfriend sweater (the one missing a button), sand between your toes, stolen kisses under the boardwalk, salt water in your hair and teenage dreams of endless summer days and nights. 🙂

I usually do one spritz on my wrist and one on my neck first thing in the morning, and the scent lingers until the evening.

The 3.4-oz. bottle of eau de toilette spray shown here is $125, but there’s also a cute 0.34-oz. rollerball for $25. Give it a sniff one of these days at Sephora. It’s also available online.

Have you been to the beach yet this year? I haven’t yet, but soon… Soon…

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I really wanted to like this, but it just wasn’t my style.

I haven’t legit gone to the beach in probably 4 years, at Cannes. I went to the lake last year for a family reunion, but didn’t actually go in the water.

Was Cannes 4 years ago? I feel like it was just yesterday when you went!

        I wish!

By the way, your nephew Quincy is a bunny escape artist! Woke up to him just chilling in the living room this morning, and he had broken out again while I was at work! Wascally Wabbit.

Sneaky Quincy! How did he do that? I think he might be too smart for his own good. LOL

By the way, I will be bunny-sitting at the end of the month! I’m kind of excited about it. 🙂

OMG, you’ll have to tell me all about it! I have a friend watching a bun this weekend and she keeps messaging me with questions, LOL!

Quincy got the door of his pen open just enough to sneak his butt out. He’s an elderly bun at this point (8 years old this month!) so he’s getting pretty smart.

I’ll be bunny and kitty sitting for a friend who’ll be out of town. I won’t be staying at the house (per Tabs’ request), but I’ll be popping in every day to feed them and play. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some good pictures. Maybe this bunny will be my gateway rabbit! 😀

This is lovely perfume – picked it up in the rollerball format a while ago, definitely need to invest in the full-sized bottle!

      Hi Ann,

I think you’ll love the full-sized bottle; the design is super cute. Do you ever wear Bobbi Brown Beach? It’s kind of similar.

Sephora, MAC,Loft, and Aritzia! Only wound up with Whirl Matte lipstick (it was at the store!!!!), and everyone there said it was way too dark on me…I didn’t care…it brought me back to HS in the 90s!

I bought this nose unsmelled and do not regret it one bit. Have you tried The Blend’s Ocean Air? Really similar also but not as sweet. A little saltier and sandier smelling.

These Replica fragrances are way cool. My boyfriend found the ones for men when he followed me into Sephora. Neither one Sephora had on the shelf was a perfect fit, but they’re unique, and the bottles are awesome. I haven’t smelled Beach Walk!

I bought a bottle of this last summer. Wasn’t wowed by it after awhile. The scent smells great but does not last very long on me. Love the bottle.

I have been to the beach this year, but I am already missing it. The feeling of salt water srying on your legs, leaving withe lines while the sun warms your skin and a seagull cries is the closest I can come to serenity.
We will go again later this year, to France, but until then I´ll maybe check out this beach Walk in a bottle.

Beach Walk is my new all time favorite summer fragrance! The rollerball was sold out on Sephora.com for a couple weeks so we’re not the only ones who are loving it. I think it is truly unique and hope it is NEVER discontinued.

Oh my gosh, Karen! You should write perfume descriptions! I’ve never smelled this one in person but after the comparison to cozy sweaters, kisses under the boardwalk (OMG! Just like in “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead”! Which, btw, happens to turn 24 tomorrow!!), and teenage dreams of endless summers?!?! I just want to order it! I smelled Flower Market once and died of happiness.

I discovered this scent in a sample I got from LuckyScent last year and love, love, love it! I know I’d bathe in it every day and go through it in nothing flat, and I simply can’t afford it! But it’s on my list of “dream perfumes” to won, and *someday*…it will be mine!

I love this fragrance! I keep hoarding samples of it from Sephora purchases, because I haven’t been able to justify adding such a pricey number to my way-too-large collection… as of yet. It is definitely only a matter of time however.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
