Tom Ford Summer 2015: A Plum and Peach Face of the Day With the New Eye and Cheek Compact in Pink Glow

A Tom Ford Summer 2015 face of the day

This is probably a little too much glam for the Home Depot trip I had planned to take this afternoon…

Oh, well!

Yeah, I wasn’t thinking about potting mix and tomato plants (gotta get my deck garden situation worked out, ASAP!) when I started this soft plum and peach cut crease with Tom Ford’s new Eye and Cheek Compact in Pink Glow.

I just jumped in with both feet! — and now I’m thinking, “Hmm… Probably not the ideal Home Depot look.” But you know how it is with a cut crease. Once you get past a certain point, there’s no turning back.

The eye and cheek compact I’m wearing today, Pink Glow, is from Tom’s new Summer 2015 Collection.

I still haven’t quite figured out why it’s called Pink Glow…because the overall color palette looks more plum than pink to me, but either way, I like it. It seems very summertime glam, and I like this particular pairing of a shimmery plum eyeshadow with a shimmery plum blush, the subtle golden beige eyeshadow, the bronze glitter, and the peachy pink highlighter. It’s a good combo.

On a mildly educational note, the big lesson I learned today while working with this palette is to “go easy” with it, because the plum and the beige shadows are surprisingly pigmented, and it’s better to build them up slowly and carefully with layers (versus just slapping them on your lids without a care in the world).

Like I usually do, I did my eyes first, thinking that I’d probably have to deal with fallout, but looking back now, I could’ve just as easily started with foundation and concealer, because there was hardly any fallout at all, not even from the glittery eyeshadow.

All I have to say to that is “THANK GOODNESS, YO!” because with a $95 palette, yeah, fallout and other forms of drama should absolutely not be problems. At all.

I also used the peachy face highlighter from the compact on my lids as a shadow, which I think worked well for this (good for a bright, wide-eyed effect), and used Tom Ford’s matte warm brown Terra Bronzer (also from the Summer 2015 Collection) in my crease as a transition shade (yay for multitasking products!).

Because the eyes were so ba-BAM!, I didn’t use the plum blush from the palette (I figured it would REALLY be too much for Home Depot) and went with theBalm’s new Balm Desert Bronzer/Blush for a more subdued bronzy/peach cheek instead.

Um…WOW! This was my first time wearing Balm Desert, and I’m really impressed. I was afraid it would go a little ashy on me because it looks borderline cool-toned in the pan, but some warm peach comes through on the skin. If you’re a fan of Benefit’s Dallas Boxed Blush, you’ll probably also like this. They’re very similar.

On my lips, that’s the new Lip Color Sheer in Skinnydip, also from the Tom Ford Summer 2015 Collection. It’s a moderately pigmented shimmery golden peach. It’s also ridiculously expensive ($50).

It’s definitely more pigmented than I thought it would be and very poolside chic. I can actually see it on my lips, huzzah! And I didn’t even have to blank them out first with concealer.

Some of the key products I’m wearing…

Makeup worn in this look…

  1. Chanel Natural Finish Loose Powder in 40 Dore — all over the face to set my foundation
  2. Tom Ford Terra Bronzer — as a bronzer on my cheeks, nose, forehead and under my jaw
  3. Tom Ford Eye and Cheek Compact in Pink Glow — dark plum eyeshadow (crease and lower lash lines), gold glitter eyeshadow (center of the lid), light beige eyeshadow (brow bone and inner corner) and peachy gold highlighter (lids)
  4. Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer in Skinnydip — lips
  5. Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterpoof in Ardoise — water lines
  6. theBalm Balm Desert Bronzer/Blush — cheeks
  7. MAC Eyeshadow in Carbon (it’s permanent, but I have it in the Brooke Shields Gravitas palette) — outer corners of the eyes and lower lash lines
  8. NARS Radiant Concealer — under-eyes
  9. L’Oreal True Match Lumi in Sun Beige — foundation
  10. Eylure Texture No 117 — lashes (not shown)
  11. Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen in Deeper — upper lash lines (not shown)
  12. Anastasia Brow Wiz in Brunette and Clear Brow Gel — brows (not shown)

Now, onward to Home Depot!

Or maybe not. I think I’m actually gonna take off this makeup first. We’ll see… I’ll let you know, LOL!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Aw don’t take your makeup off it’s so pretty! You don’t have to look like a bum to shop Home Depot … I’ve shopped there in a dress! And bonus – I actually got some help!

Thank you, Monica! I love that you rocked a dress at Home Depot. Maybe that’s what I need to do to get some help, for real! The one near my house has not-so-great customer service. Perhaps some heels and a cute dress would change that, LOL!

It’s been a beautiful, warm sunny spring day. Today I wore Oil of Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream in Fair to Light, BareMinerals Mineral Veil in Translucent, MAC blush in Azalea, Laura Mercier Artist Palette 2013 reissue (Kir Royal, Plum Smoke & Sparkling Dew), MAC Fluidline in Blue Peep, Almay Intense i-color Mascara in Saphhire, and Nyx Soft Matte Cream in Tokyo on my lips. I wanted the Blue Peep to be the star, so I kept the rest neutral-ish.

Beautiful look! I don’t think it’s too much for Home Depot at all. It’s so feminine and pretty! The last thing I want to do is spend $95 on that palette but man it’s looking pretty tempting right now lol

Boo! Don’t be a square! There’s no need to dress down for simple shopping trips. =P I normally visit the local Dollar General in high heels, dress, nylons, full makeup, styled hair, and polished nails. Who’s gonna stop me? Besides, seeing someone look nice can brighten the mood, so you go rock that gorgeous face at Home Depot.

Mmm… I don’t need any more theBalm products, since they’re hellishly expensive, but the containers are just soo cute… and it’s such a pretty colour. =S You ought to be a saleswoman, I want to buy everything you review.

I fully agree with you on that one, Zovesta. Some of the makeup she reviews is very expensive! But, she makes me want to buy it all anyway with her awesome personality.:) Hope you all have a great day!

I agree, you can totally wear this look to Home Depot. It would be a sin to take it off so quickly and besides, mostly men shop there, so they wouldn’t pay attention to makeup anyways, lol.

This look is beautiful and so elegant! I don’t think I have ever tried a”cut crease” look!

    Hey girl HAY!!!
I signed up for a TF event end of this month at Neiman’s. Do I need this palette? I was just set to get that peach cream/powder shadow duo. Ugh but you had to do a super pretty look using this palette!

HAAAAAY GIRL! Oh how fun! Will you be getting a makeover? While you’re there you’ve got to spray on some of his perfumes…They’re incredible.

Anywho, this palette is SUPER pretty but you really have to like the reddish plums. I know some people have a hard time wearing them so that’s something to consider. Plus you will need to throw in a transition shade up in the mix because there’s no mattes. I do love the textures and the pigmentation of the powders, though. I was really pleased with how everything blended. OH! And that dark blush is insane. So pigmented!

Um, I’m not sure if I answered your question. LOL Maybe look at what you’ve got in your collection? If you have gaps in the plum/pink arena this would be a fun one to have around.

Yes, love those pricey TF fragrances. I’m partial to Cafe Rose, just not the price tag! I guess I’ll have to peep the palette in person. I think I really want it because of the packaging. Because how fabulous is that compact, really? Ugh, sucks to be a packaging whore!

The look is beautiful on you! But I am hesitant about the red tone shadow. I have read great things about this palette, but to shell out $95, I must fall in love with it! Still, I simply must own something from the collection! Then, I panicked this morning when the golden peach shadow was no longer on the TF site for pre order, so I snagged it on NM.
