A Face of the Day With the New Benefit World Famous Neutrals Most Glamorous Nudes Ever Kit

“Maybe you need to move the camera to the left a little?”

This is the face you make when your parents try to FaceTime you from across the Pacific Ocean for the very first time, LOL!

Both my mom and dad are retired, in their mid-60s and not the most technologically savvy people. Example: Even though I’ve explained it to them a bunch of times over the last six years, they still don’t understand what a blog is (“Why do you post so many pictures of makeup and Tabs on the internet?”).

But bless their hearts for trying and for keeping an open mind to new gadgets and gizmos.

They’re on Oahu right now, and it’s been a couple days since I’ve seen them, so they FaceTime’d me (is that even a verb?) this morning to say hello and to show me the ocean. How sweet!

Because they’re my parents, I spent 10 minutes looking at my dad’s left ear before they figured out how to hold the iPhone. When they finally worked it out, my mom grabbed the phone to chat…

ME: “Hi, Mom. Whatcha up to?”

benefit world famous neutrals most glamorous nudes ever

MOM: “Oh, I went to a country line dancing class this morning. It was a lot of fun. Dad says he went to the gym to walk on the treadmill, but I think he went to the buffet instead. You know. Retired people stuff.”

ME: “That’s cool.”

MOM: “Where’s my tabby?”

ME: “He’s sleeping at the top of his cat tower. I’d wake him, but I’m not in the mood to get scratched.”

MOM: “You know, if I had a grandchild, I’d take her on vacation with us.”

ME: “You know, you already have a grand-cat.”

MOM: “I know! But I can’t take Tabs with me to Hawaii. If I had a granddaughter, I could bring her to the pool, the beach and all that fun stuff.”

ME: “Are you asking for a grandchild so you can have something to do on vacation?”

MOM: “I’m just saying. If you had a baby, it would keep me busy. Ideally a girl. Hint, hint.”

ME: “Ummm…”

MOM: “Just something to think about!

Oh, I like your eye makeup today. What are you wearing?”

ME: “It’s a new kit from Benefit called the Most Glamorous Nudes Ever.”

MOM: “Those are nice colors. I think they’d work for a new mom or maybe even a grandma, hee-hee! Maybe you can get me that kit for Christmas. Hint, hint.”

Me: “You’re sure full of hints today!”

LOL! Parents. Gotta love ’em. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

lol! Karen, that’s so funny! My husband and I were married the beginning of November last year (in Hawaii 🙂 ) and immediately after at Thanksgiving, we were already getting questions of when we were going to have a baby! I told them I have two cats and they are the only kids I need right now!

      Hi Brooke,

I think the parents just want someone fun to play with, LOL! 🙂

Which island did you guys tie the knot? El Hub and I got married on Oahu at the Turtle Bay Hotel on the North Shore.

We also got married in Oahu! I so wish we would have chose Turtle Bay! It was on the top of my list, however a friend of mine was married a year before us and recommended the place where we had our ceremony. We were married at Waimanalo Bay, East of Honolulu/Waikiki. While Hawaii was beautiful, unfortunately, we didn’t have a great time – the APEC Convention was there at the same time and made everything extremely stressful and difficult! We stayed at the Trump in Waikiki which was very nice, however we were literally stuck at the hotel for 2-3 days because Secret Service shut down the roads, beach, etc. I also wasn’t happy with the people we went through for the ceremony, but that’s a story all in itself. We were able to drive to North Shore one evening and I loved it up there. I was so bummed and even cried! lol You live and learn, I guess! 🙂

HA! I think I saw a lot of ears and ceilings the first time I video chatted and face-timed with my parents. Have you seen that episode of Modern Family where they video chat with their parents during Christmastime? Love it.

LOL that’s too cute! Mine learnt how to use Skype when I moved to Europe, but she still doesn’t REALLY know where to look when we use the webcam! And of course she asks to see the kittehs all the time 🙂

Love this kit! Seriously putting it on my wish list now!

Awe you’re mom is so sweet. She sounds a lot like my mom. When I was in high school she kept asking me when I was going to give her grandchildren! Crazy women! Haha. My parents don’t live near me and reading your post made me miss my mom! (BTW- I agree: your eye makeup looks beautiful today)

Fabulous palette! I’ll be getting it I think! One can never have too many neutral shadows, and these are great.

Give your Mother a grandchild! Someone fun to play with and new to love is always a good idea! And it would make her so happy! LOL!

Wow, you look so beautiful. I usually read your posts from the last one I’ve read to the newest, but these pictures caught my eye. The brow highlight and cheekbone highlight shade is perfect!
I’ll be getting my mom a Kindle Fire for Xmas, and she will want to use Skype with my brother’s kids. I’m sure I’ll be giving lessons daily until she learns! She still doesn’t quite have it down that you should look at the screen of the iPhone while you’re taking a picture instead of holding it to your eye. She will be so enamored with it once she learns though, I’m sure.

Have you tried the Maybeline 24 hour color tatoo’s? I like them as a base , but the color payoff is not deep enough for me to use them alone. Would love to see a review on these.

This particular kit is on my wishlist for after Christmas! It’s gorgeous. Benefit’s creaseless cream shadows rock my world. I love reading your cute conversation with your Mom. I lost my Mom in July and I miss our phone conversations about life, makeup, or nonsense so much. I’d give everything for just one more phone call with her…:)

You have amazing skin! I love how I’m only a teenager but my crazy Asian grandma is wistfully thinking about how she loves babies and the joke is that when she becomes a great-grandma, she’ll be so occupied that she’d get off her iPad for the first time in years! haha! 😀

Love the kit but I think I’ll get its sister – benefit’s Sexiest Nudes ever. I mean.. I feel like the colors in the other two kits could be omitted because I have my UD Naked to love, but Sexiest Nudes has some lush colors that I don’t have! Thanks for the review!

You never mentioned that your Mom was so subtle… HAHA! It’s nice, though. I know people whose parents have no interest in their grandkids and never want to spend any time with them. Btw, I will definitely put on a baby bonnet if your Mom is looking to bring a girl with her on vacation to Hawaii! 🙂

My fave creaseless cream is Birthday Suit. It is perfect on my pale skin to brighten up my eyes- and great as a base for powder shadows. I also have Skinny Jeans, but I didn’t tighten the lid hard enough one day and now it is a bit dried out. But I love it also. I am wishing for Flatter me, which looks pink indoors and more bronze outside. I also have and love Get Figgy for a crease shade, and I do have strut which I haven’t used as much(I am trying to work up the courage to feature it in a smokey eye look). Busy Signal I got to do a look on my darker complected daughter, but I find I can use it also if I go sheer. Trying to decide which of these kits I want- I was at Sephora today and I love the Most Glamorous but I really fell for the Sexiest Nudes ever- Holy Smokes is like a paler cousin of Strut and Bikini-tini is like a lighter sheerer version of Birthday suit. I can see myself reaching for both often!
