10 Beautiful Reasons to Love Target

March 13th, 2010 by Karen 32 Comments

Living one mile from a Tar-ghay has its pros and cons… In the pros column, I have easy access to great, affordable beauty brands like Boots and Sonia Kashuk, but the flip side of that is how easily I get distracted every time I want to just run in to buy TP or cat food, gah!

Here are 10 of my favorite Target beauty buys. Can you think of anything else we should add to the list?

Sonia Kashuk Bent Eyeliner Brush

“Turns out this bad boy’s all that and a bag of baked Cheetos! — an affordable, all-purpose eyeliner brush (part clouds; insert heavenly music *here*) with a pointed brush head (soft synthetic fibers), an angled barrel and long handle.”

Full Review | $6.00

Sonia Kashuk Matte Oil Blotting Papers

“Sonia Kashuk went big with her Matte Oil Blotting Papers ($7), not only making them significantly larger than comparable ones from MAC (about a quarter of an inch longer on all sides), but also giving three times as many sheets for just about half the cost (100 sheets for $7, versus 30 for $13.50 of the ones from MAC).”

Full Review | $7.00

Clairol Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly

“Hoping for hot-mama hair of my own, I started using the shampoo, conditioner and spray gel from the new Clairol Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Line ($4 each). I honestly didn’t think anyone would notice, but you gals have such a good eye! After I put up this face of the day, a few of you asked in the comments what I’d done differently with my ‘do.”

Full Review | $4.00

Yes to Carrots C Me Shine Lip Gloss

“If it weren’t for their faint mint flavor and fragrance (which dissipates quickly), they’d almost be knockoffs of the MAC Lipgelles, which cost twice as much ($14). They have a similar smooth and shiny, non-stick texture and also broadcast seriously intense color.”

Full Review | $6.50

CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Liner

“CoverGirl claims Exact Eyelights Eyeliner brightens eyes by 4x. I didn’t notice particularly brighter eyes, but I like it as a basic liner that stays put for a *very* long time. I’ve been using the Vibrant Pearl pencil for the past few days, and this puppy stays put like nobody’s bidness.”

Full Review | $7.00

Soap and Glory Off Your Face Cleansing Cloths

“These wipes work overtime! You know how after you use some wipes you feel like you have to rinse? Like they’ve left a residue? I don’t feel that way after using Off Your Face. After wiping down with one of these, my face and neck feel squeaky clean and residue-free…”

Full Review | $7.00

Boots Expert Sensitive Cleansing Wipes

“Expert Sensitive removes every last bit of gel liner and waterproof mascara without breaking a sweat. And foundation, powder and blush? — Everything, POOF! I also have to give the people behind the packaging props for making a sticker closure that actually works.”

Full Review | $5.00

Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Cuticle and Nail Moisture Treatment Pen

“I’m so glad I picked up the Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Cuticle and Nail Moisture Treatment Pen ($6) on a run to Target a couple weeks ago. It basically does the same thing as the Sephora Cuticle Pen I’ve been using but for half the price … a clicker pen filled with an oil for softening and moisturizing cuticles, and it totally works.”

Full Review | $6.00

Eye Love Cucumbers Eye Gel

“I usually look for eye creams that are heavier than this one is, assuming they’ll pack more moisture, but Eye Love Cucumbers caught me by surprise. This stuff delivers hydration by the veggie truckload; it’s probably one of the most moisturizing eye gels I’ve ever tried.”

Full Review | $15.00

Garnier Fructis Body Boost Conditioner

“The light texture and weight of the product make it feel good in my hair. It’s light but still moisturizing and rinses fast, not leaving behind a greasy or heavy layer of goo. I’ve only used it to condition wash, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t also work well to add volume and moisture to fine hair without adding excess weight.”

Full Review | $6.00

They are decent. Definitely not as big, but good to throw in my purse! They remind me of the boscia green tea ones I’ve gotten at sephora before.

Target is great! Speaking of Target, with MAC’s Liberty of London line, there’s also a Liberty of London line at Target – lots of pretty prints on all sorts of things, from clothing and accessories (headbands!) and kitchen ware (I’m totally digging a dessert tray that I see online…perfect for all the goodies I like to bake!). ^_^ If you go to Target’s website and just type in “Liberty of London”, there’s a promo video. I believe everything starts being sold tomorrow here in the US. =)

I use a lot of these products but won’t buy new ones at Target anymore if I can get them elsewhere. With CVS, RiteAid and Walgreens letting you bring back opened makeup if you don’t like something, it’s silly to buy things at Target, which has a worsening returns policy. Having said that, I still love the Boots and some of the other lines you can’t get anywhere else 🙂

Aside from the great reasons you put down I’d like to add the designer collaborations! I scored the Gaultier nautical tunic last weekend and yesterday I bought the Liberty of London rain boots! It was actually Supermarket Sweet crazy in their yesterday at 8:30 AM – women were working in teams. I had the targer workers looking for me personally because I asked for the rainboots and at first they didn’t think they got them in but when they found them in the back they looked for me and I got first dibbs! Yes Target F’in rocks!!!
