The Kate Spade Packable Straw Fedora: Some Hats Were Made for Packing, and That’s Just What They’ll Do

Can we talk fedoras for a minute?

Every summer I try to avoid them, because I’m not Justin Timberlake, and sometimes I feel like he’s the only person who can legitimately pull them off.

But some fedoras are really cute.

Really, really cute.

I spotted this one at a Kate Spade store last May and struggled, unsuccessfully, for weeks to erase it from my Lust List, only to eventually give in after employing every excuse in the book.

  • “I need a hat to protect my hair color!”
  • “I’m going on vacation!”
  • “It’s my birthday month!”
  • “There’s a bow on it!”

Honestly, though, this hat is awesome. It’s the pinnacle of summery straw hat fedoras in that it’s not only super cute, but it’s also packable, which means that you can store it flat in your bag or luggage, and then when you unpack it at your destination, it pops back into shape.

The neutral colors also go with everything, and hello! — THERE’S A BOW ON IT.

The Kate Spade Packable Straw Fedora is a little difficult to track down right now online (it appears to be sold out, boo!), but they may have it at your neighborhood Kate Spade store.

Sometimes it’s worth going to the store just to see if you can snag a sweet discount. I got this one for 15% off because it was the last hat available, and it happened to be on a mannequin. I told the sales associate that I was hoping to get a “fresh hat from the back” (yes, I used those exact words, LOL!), but the only one they had was the floor model, so to speak. So she cut me a break on the price (thank you, whoever you are!). 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

This hat is adorable. The bow does it for me. If it has a bow on it, I’m in!! I love hats but I always feel stupid wearing them. I bought a similar hat to this one ar Target last year and i have never worn it outside. Lol.

A fresh hat, lol! I’m not generally a hat person but I did get a fedora type hat from Macy’s when I went to Coachella a few years ago and it really helped block the sun (and cover up my stank-a** sweaty hair!)

I always buy hats for summer, being a redhead and all. My scalp got fried during a few days in Paris in 2009, which caused problems on my scalp for months. Ginger people problems!

What a cute had 🙂 I have a couple of fedora hats, one big floppy hat and a couple of caps. For my holidays I prefer wearing a cap, just because it’s easier when you’re out and about doing stuff. But when I want to keep it a bit more fashionable I usually grab one of my fedora hats.

I love hats and I wear them sometimes. This one is very cute, the bow adds a nice girly touch.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
