Sometimes I Wonder…

September 25th, 2013 by Karen 20 Comments

…if anyone else out there gets really, really excited about the first spaghetti squash of the season. 🙂

I mean, it’s like spaghetti inside!?

Will wonders never cease?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOh! yum yum yum! Last year, I made spaghetti with this, for the first time. It turned out OK, but I’m glad there are instructions on it! I kind of winged it, and kept having to put it back in the microwave. 🙂

Do you have any recipes you’re willing to share? 😀

I like mine sauteed with some olive oil, arugula, and sausage! I make mini meatballs by taking the sausage out of its casing and rolling it into small balls which I then stirfry in a bit of olive oil. I then add half of the arugula at the last minute so it wilts. I add the rest of the arugula when I’m ready to serve it (mainly because I like the mix of cooked/raw arugula) and top with some Parmesan. Delicious!

Its also great with some cherry tomatoes, basil, and (again!) olive oil. I’ve also added some sundried tomatoes and used the oil they’re packed in for a different taste. So yummy!

Its also great with a simple red sauce (tomatoes peeled/seeded, olive oil, basil) and some cheese. 🙂

I also forgot to add, don’t forget the garlic!! I like adding roasted garlic to mine for a more intense taste that plays off the sweetness of the squash, but cooked garlic is also delicious. 😀

I LOVE this stuff! My mom used to grow organic spaghetti squash! We ate so much of it one year, I got sick of it! I’m over it now, and drooling over the pictures! Enjoy!!!

I cooked my first ever spaghetti squash the other day – it was so good! Husband cooked it with his usual spag sauce and it was amazing. And so exciting. Ha!

Yum! And speaking of such matters, yesterday it was very clear that Pumpkin Madness has officially begun at Trader Joe’s. Pumpkin Biscotti, Pumpkin Chai Latte Mix, Mini Pumpkin Pies, Pumpkin Macarons, and on and on and on…..

My Canadian friend does! Although we have a huge variety of pumpkins and squashes in Austria I haven’t seen these yet!

Yesssssssss. And the first acorn squash, and apples from the local orchard, and those tiny squash and pumpkins you can decorate with ( but not eat),… the list goes on.

I don’t like most types of squash, but this actually looks really good. What does it taste like?

I’m not a huge spaghetti squash fan but I definitely squealed in the grocery store when I saw the delicata and acorn squashes! I could probably eat my body weight in each of those (preferably roasted in the oven and then drenched in butter & roasted garlic…). **drool**

heeeeeeell yeah!!! Freakin love the stuff. Maybe I’ll try to come up with some creative not-necessarily-spaghetti-like ways to use it this fall/winter.

As far as I know, we don’t have this in Belgium. This is actually the first time I’ve heard about it…

Love the taste of spaghetti squash, but had the worst allergic reaction to it. I am talking crazy hives!!! It’s so yummy though!

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
