NYC New York Color Custom Compact for Brown Eyes

January 22nd, 2011 by Karen 10 Comments

What do you think of the colors in the NYC New York Color Custom Compact for Brown Eyes?

The palette come with four shadows, an eyelid primer and a cream highlighter in colors for — yup, you guessed it! — brown eyes. I picked mine up from Tar-ghay for $7.

An eyeshadow quad with included primer and highlighter? I’m curious now for the review as this would make an excellent little all inclusive palette to throw in my bag!

I’ve got this for the green eyes. I really like the primer and illuminator, and the eye shadow is a good value for the price. Though, honestly, I think I like the colors in your brown eye compact than in my green eye compact. Mine’s just shades of olive-y brown.

I saw this one and was really surprised at the colors. They seemed really drab. I don’t think they’d do anything to help bring out the color of my green eyes.

I considered it at Rite Aid a week or two ago. Looks promising. I think it was $4.99. FWIW, I rarely buy cosmetics at Target, since their sales are rare and way too mingy [c’mon, 10%!?] NYC is usually on sale or BOGO at one of the drugstore chains.

Just purchased the brown eye version at CVS. $4.99 [actually free since I had a $5 Beauty Club voucher.]

I tried the last one they released for brown eyes but I can’t get it to really stand out against my skin even after applying wet. That and the primer seems a little chalky: I’m definitely going to give this one a shot though (the last one was a few months ago), at Rite-Aid I found it for $2.99!

I have this compact version in Smokey Browns and love it! I love purples when creating the smokey eye and you can make it soft for daytime by not using the black or dramatic for night =] The only problem that I had with it was the loose shadow getting into the primer and highlighter =/

I used to use this daily. The colors are flattering although not amazingly pigmented and the staying power isn’t great. But I love the highlighter and with a good primer the eyeshadows would be amazing.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
