These Lovely Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Pencils Appear To Be Afraid of Water…Lines

With this little gang of new liners from Estée Lauder, my water lines are like, “Hey, ma! Stick around a while. Please…?”

Yup, lash lines get all the lovin’ around Estée Lauder’s Stay-in-Place Double Wear Eye Pencils, and the two are practically joined at the hip.

These pencils last a good seven or eight hours on my lash lines (!), which is cool and all…but what’s up with the lack of water line love?

It makes me a sad panda. 🙁 Because sometimes homegirl doesn’t want to have to grab another liner just to handle her water line sitch. Some days that’s just too much, and I can’t. I just can’t.

These are definitely giving me an Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On vibe, which is kind of odd, I know, considering how Estée Lauder and Urban Decay are about a billion miles apart in terms of makeup style, but still.

Both feel silky, slick and scoot along my skin, which I love. Getting these on my lids is no problem at all — there’s no tugging! — but EL’s pencils do take a few minutes longer to dry down, which means more time to play and smudge with the rubber/smudging thingamabob on the end of the pencils.

In K-Dawg terminology, this is good. 🙂

Their only major drawback (at least for me) is their poor performance on my water lines. Not only do they refuse to stick around, but when I do use them there, my eyes freak out.

Just a little. And this dry winter weather we’re having probably doesn’t help (interestingly, though, my eyes have been able to tolerate the old-school MAC Eye Kohls just fine).

If you only intend to use these Estée Lauder Stay-in-Place Double Wear Eye Pencils on your lash lines, you should be good. They’re available now in 16 shades for $23 each at Estée Lauder counters and online.

P.S. Happy hump day, my friend. I’ve still got that cold, but I’m doing my best to keep chugging along. Tabs has actually been quite helpful (surprisingly). He makes me Throat Coat tea with extra honey and lemon. 🙂

The blue and the gold looks awesome! I love the top you’re wearing. Or is it a dress?

      Hi Agata,

Good eye. It’s a dress! I was in the mood to wear something with my leggings that wasn’t a sweatshirt, lol!

I hope you’re having a nice week so far.

On my waterline is the place where I usually wear color, so those might not be for me.
Hope you feel better soon. So glad Tabs is there to show you some love. And get you tea, which is always great.

There are entire weeks if not months when the waterline does not receive any makeup love (due to allergies). I use dampened eye shadow for definition.

I actually created a whole new open-eyes look that way. But I don’t think EL intended this sort of makeup-fail. Might be the micro-metallics in the formula.

Enjoy the tea! Hope you have some good throat lozenges. Dear Husband puts one in the tea when he has a cold but I think it’s uncivilized!

      Hi Debra,

I used to do the lozenges in tea back when I used to sing! It really works, especially with Halls.

I hope that you are having a nice day. 🙂

The colors look amazing :-O I’m so sad to hear they don’t last well on the waterline though. I won’t be able to do anything with them then 🙁

      Hi Natalie,

Mine are super picky this time of year (due to the cold weather) and then only thing I can really tolerate are the old school MAC Eye Kohls. I usually alternate between Smolder (a classic black), Powersurge (a bronze), Costa Riche (a warm reddish brown) and Teddy (a bronzy brown). I also like the MAC Chromagraphic pencils, which are matte beige liners. HTH, and let me know if you need any other recommendations!

You look so beautiful here, cold and all! Thank you for posting all the swatches- they look so nice. I personally don’t wear liner in my water line very often, so that downfall doesn’t bother me too much 🙂

    Feel better!

      Hi Jenny,

Thank you! You will probably love this liner then. 🙂 There are lots of beautiful colors… One of the shades (which I didn’t get to swatch) is a rose gold! I would be all over it in a hot second if I could wear it on my water lines.

My, my, my, the swatches look beautiful! Such gorgeous colors! My eyes are a little sensitive so I tend to only use Kohl pencils on my waterline anyway. But these look great for the lash line!

I think EL double wear liners are better than UD 24/7. Although I love UD color line, a lot of their colors drag and skip on my skin especially the purples. I have a ELDW liner in brown and it glides on perfectly. I can’t say for the water line as I don’t put liner there often.

I’m excited for these new colors .. will have to pick a few up!
