Floral Fireworks

April 4th, 2014 by Karen 11 Comments

Happy 4th of April, whee! Let’s pop some fireworks!

Don’t these cool flowers look like a fireworks display? I spotted them at Anthropologie a little earlier today.

They’re real. Not plastic. I don’t know what they are, though…

Speaking of Anthropologie, am I the only person who makes a beeline for the sale section as soon as they walk into the store? I’m always hoping to find something cute there, but alas, no luck today in that department.

I did like this green peplum top, but it wasn’t on sale. I think I’m going to wait and see if it gets marked down.

LOL! I really am my mother’s daughter…

Hi Karen. Those are protea and they’re grown on the island of Maui (they may be grown elsewhere as well).

Wow the photos of the flowers are amazing! And I know what you mean about waiting until something gets marked down, especially if I’m not really dying to have it. lol

Great photos! I tend to like Anthropologies necklaces and decor/miscellaneous items much more than the actual clothing. Hehe

Hi Karen. So pretty even if they are plastic. They’re pin cushion protea. We have them here in Cape Town. South Africa .

Those flowers are so unique! I love Anthropologie, and I totally know what you mean about walking straight to the clearance section LOL. What can I say, I love finding bargains. 🙂

Yay for protea 🙂 My grandparents used to have them in their garden – they’re beautiful!

I, too, make for the sale section in my favourite stores – grad student’s imperative 😛

    Hi Karen –

Love, love, love your blog. The flowers are protea as Carrie noted, and you can find them all over Cali. I bought some last week at So Cal Farmer’s Market, usually about $2-3/stem, and they last about 2 weeks. :<)

I think those are Protea! I love Anthro and I’d spend a fortune there if I had one to spend!

We don’t have an Anthropologie store (I know, put on your surprised face), but I’m the same way with sales. It’s the best way to have nice things on a budget. 🙂

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
