Oh man I love it too! It’s funny because I went to Hawaii a lot when I was a kid and remember the water being SO warm (especially compared to Nor/Cal). Then I went to Grand Cayman Island 4 years ago and the water there was almost HOT! It was totally not refreshing at all at about 85 degrees. Then I went back to Hawaii and was like “damn this is kinda cold” but then I got used to it 🙂
I grew up going to the beach in the Monterey/Santa Cruz area and the water is cold as ice! But as kids we were used to it and would spend entire days in the water. When I went to Kauai when I was seven, I found the water to be perfect! Kinda warm but still cool enough to beat the heat.
I remember my first trip to Hawaii I went on a catamaran cruise. As we were lined up to get in the water to snorkle, I was a little hesistant to get in the water and the deckhand shouted “what are you waiting for? It’s 80 degrees”! Haha You’d be hesitant too if you were used to Pacifc NW cold water!!
