Urban Outfitters Beauty Haul: Tony Moly, Hair Therapy and The Gnarly Whale

Me, Tabs and the Kocostar Hair Therapy cap ($8)

I’m really hoping that including Tabs in this picture is enough to distract you from the fact that 1) I’m in my pajamas, 2) I’m not wearing any makeup, and 3) I’m wearing this totally weird hair treatment cap by Kocostar Hair Therapy.

If it isn’t, here’s a T. rex claw for good measure…

I’m not purposefully going for milkmaid chic in this look. 🙂 The hair cap is one of the things I picked up at Urban Outfitters a few weeks back.

Dude! If you haven’t been there lately, you have to go. There’s a lot of cool sh*t and neat brands in their beauty section.

Like this cap by Kocostar Hair Therapy ($8). It’s pre-moistened with conditioner. After shampooing and towel drying, you stick your hair inside the cap, seal it shut with the sticker on the back, and wait 15 minutes for your hair to absorb the product (I’m thinking/guessing that the heat from your head is some kind of activator).

Then rinse it all out.

Now, OK. First of all, it was really hard to get all of my hair up into this cap. I tried putting it into a loose bun at the top of my head, and then sticking the cap over it, but my hair kept falling out, so I ended up holding the cap upside-down and diving into it.

Of course, then I couldn’t get the sticker thingy to stay stuck…

Eventually, I figured it out (but it wasn’t incredibly easy).

After letting my hair sit inside the cap for 15 minutes, I removed the cap and rinsed my hair. It felt coated with a thick, heavy goo, which took a really long time to rinse out, but I do think my hair looked a little shinier than it did before…

I dunno. At least my head smelled good (like Gummy Bears).

About some of the other things I picked up…

the gnarly whale thai coconut
The Gnarly Whale Thai Coconut Beach Waves, $14

The Gnarly Whale Thai Coconut Beach Waves ($14) — Wow, this is really lovely! I get soft, beachy waves without stickiness or crunchiness. Totally like a softer hold version of Kerastase Spray a Porter. Smells great, too (like coconuts).

tonymoly pandas dream eye
Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Eye Makeup Eraser, $14

Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Eye Makeup Eraser, $14

Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Eye Makeup Eraser ($14) — A clear, smooth, silicon-like stick that helps cleanup stray edges and makeup accidents. Very handy, and it works great. Just apply on the makeup boo-boo area, then lift with a Q-tip to remove.

face shop protect me hand cream
The Face Shop Protect Me Hand Cream, $8

The Face Shop Protect Me Hand Cream, $8

The Face Shop Protect Me Hand Cream ($8) — Non-greasy, very moisturizing, and smells like chocolate. It’s also waaaaay beyond cute. But what is that animal on the cap?? I think it might be a cat?

tonymoly pandas dream
Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Hand Cream, $11

Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Hand Cream, $11

Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Hand Cream ($11) — A thick, rich, highly moisturizing hand cream. Great for dry cuticles! Also great to keep on your desk (I’ve named my panda JoJo).

You and Tabs appear to be on a Spa Date 🙂
Tony Moly’s packaging get’s me every time! I love my Panda hand cream too (which is now filled with my favorite hand lotion, looking adorable on my bedside table, and is called “Pandz”) Did you happen to see TM’s famous “Tomatox” face pack at UO? It really brightens the face. I totally recommend 🙂

Cute korean cosmetics is my weakness! Those Protect Me hand creams from TFS all represent an animal close to extinction & if I’m not mistaken, this one is a fennec fox

Hair masks can be overrated and it’s so easy to make your own. I just combine coconut oil with honey and put it under a shower cap for an hour/episode of Sons of Anarchy. The shower cap has plenty of space for my hair and the elastic helps it stay on. And have you ever tried putting a packet of EmergenC in a couple tablespoons of warm water then putting that in your hair? It gets rid of buildup and makes your hair super shiny! (It can lighten freshly dyed hair if it’s too dark too!)

The critter on that hand cream looks like a fennec fox! They’re so cute. They do look a little cat-like.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
