The Impeccably Dressed and Long-Lasting Sisley-Paris Phyto-Eye Twist Waterproof Cream Eyeshadows

Aside from their very fashionable zebra stripes, many brands make shadow sticks that look like these Sisley-Paris Phyto-Eye Twist Waterproof Cream Eyeshadows, but I don’t recall one being dressed as well or one costing as much (they’re $50!).

Dat black and white zebra print, tho.

Sometimes I feel like putting an animal print on something is a gimmicky (albeit usually effective) way to make it seem better…

Sisley-Paris, a high-end skin care and makeup brand, promotes their use of plant-based ingredients (full list of ingredients down below, but note — not all of them look natural), and if the thought of spending $50 for a waterproof creamy eyeshadow stick seems crazier than Ryan Gosling showing up at your front door astride a unicorn while carrying a bouquet of peonies and a homemade Key lime pie, they hope that their ingredients are one reason it’s not.

Despite their extravagant price, I do think that these are gorgeous on the skin, and they’re pigmented, smooth and dramatic with a capital “D.”

Here are two of the eight available shades. The others are 1 Topaz, 3 Khaki, 4 Steel, 6 Marine, 7 Havana and 8 Black Diamond.

First time I swatched 5 Lagoon, the teal shade, I bit down on my fist. Hard. It’s a terrifically intense teal with freakishly fine flecks of shimmer, and I fell in lust at first swipe. Sadly, though, 2 Bronze seemed easily dupable (looks like Laura Mericer’s Sandglow and Bobbi Brown’s Golden Bronze to me).

I think it’s nice, but probably doesn’t rise to the level of $50.

But that teal shadow…

It’s impossible to overlook the $50 price of these Sisley cream eyeshadows, but at least they multitask. They aren’t just run-of-the-mill cream eyeshadows. You’re also able to use them as bases for powder shadows, or as liners on the lash and water lines.

That takes the edge off the price for me, but probably not enough. Do you know how many bags of TJ’s cheesy puffs you can get for $50?! Because I don’t…but I’m pretty sure it’s a lot.

Ingredients

Dimethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Lauroyl Lysine, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Polyethylene, Synthetic Wax, Octyldodecanol, Ozokerite, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Lilium Candidum Flower Extract, Propylene Carbonate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Lecithin, Tin Oxide, Citric Acid, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, May Contain +- Iron Oxides (CI 77499, CI 77491, CI 77492), MICA (CI 77019), Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140).

Both of these shades apply flawlessly, as they should, considering the un-ignorable price. With these waterproof shadows/liners, you get about 10 minutes to smudge and play, but once they’ve completely set, they don’t budge. You could watch The Notebook on your period before listening to that one terribly sad Adele song, and then swan dive off the rock at Waimea TWICE, and these will hold it down. In terms of durability and resistance to water, they’re definitely on point.

Long-lasting, and easy to blend and layer? Check, check and check. Wallet about to burst into flames? Also, check there.

If you’re interested and curious, they’re available online now in the Sisley-Paris permanent line and at Neiman Marcus.

PRICE: $50 each, available in eight shades
AVAILABILITY: Available now online and at Sisley-Paris counters in Neiman Marcus stores
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B (undoubtedly beautiful multitaskers, but that astronomical price…)

And some very happy cats! I’m going to order mine a new Da Bird this week. It’s a crazy feather whip toy that sounds like bird wings when you whip around. My cats go nuts, I have to be careful where we play because they don’t pay attention to anything but Da Bird. I get it from Amazon. If Tabs likes feather whip toys and birds I think he would enjoy this too.

I’ve seen that toy before at Petco! I think Tabs will have me stop by there to get him one. 🙂

How many cats do you have?

I’m embarrassed to admit it, but we have 6 cats. We are the Island of Misfit Toys, all of our cats would be unadoptable if it wasn’t for us. We have a crazy tortie that was one of our foster kittens, the shelter asked us if we’d take her if they gave her to us. We have one that’s blind in one eye and semi-feralish (VERY nervous) and one with a bad leg, etc. They’re all special in their own way!

I can get one of my cats to play so hard he pants when I take out Da Bird!

Oooohhhh that teal! Teal eye makeup is my kryptonite! I don’t think I could pull the trigger on $50, especially since I have SO MUCH teal already. But I def have heart eyes for this!

I’ve heard amazing and also some less-amazing things about these, but overall these look GREAT! I love that teal! And Khaki looks really pretty, too.

You know I’m a huge fan of anything “-icone” in my face products because I’m all about the smooth application but I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a plant-based dimethicone. 😉 Sisley definitely needs a different justification for their price tag. The cute zebra print helps. HAHA!

Gosh! Lagoon is beautiful, but $50? That’s just too much. I’ll stick to my Rimmel and Milani, and save my splurge on Benefit.

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
