Sephora’s $16 Flashy Eyeliner Set

December 9th, 2012 by Karen 12 Comments

I really wanted to love this affordable limited edition holiday kit, with its five 0.028-ounce pencil liners in brown, blue, deep black, violet and gray (so creamy, so pigmented!), but none of the liners stick to my water lines at all.

Not one iota.

On my lash lines, I can eek out about six hours from them, but that’s only as long as I don’t rub my eyes (which I have a bad habit of doing).

PRICE: $16
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Sephora stores and online at sephora.com

The shimmery ones don’t stay for long on my waterline, but they last all day (10+ hours) on my skin, and the Deep Black stays for about 4 hours on my waterline but needs to be set on my actual lashline or it transfers up onto my eyelid.

Maybe the formulation is a bit different on these compared to the regular flashy liners? Ie used them for about three years now and I love them! My favorite is Flashy Black, which is a shimmery charcoal that looks like smudged out black liner (smudgy in a good way).

I have to set pretty much all liners except the UD 24/7 ones or MUFE ones with primer first. The Laura Mercier ones are great but will come off within a few hours without primer. I have oily lids and my waterline is constantly moist from wearing contacts. I would also try setting the liners with a translucent powder – it may help them stay put longer and you wouldn’t have to search for different powder shadows to set them. I will also sometimes layer a UD liner underneath and put the cheaper, colorful liner on over top and that works too, and it’s quick.

I hope they work better for me than you because I’m going to be getting this set for Christmas from my mom, hehe

I usually find the same with Sephora brand products… quality isn’t there.

I love the colours of these and that they are so creamy, but lasting power is important. I only wear liner on my waterline so that is a big issue for me.

    The colours look great through!

They do remind me of the Urban Decay ones.

I have a set of different Sephora nano liners. They also smear a lot, but a I found that if I set them with a matching shadow they’ll do just fine.

I like their regular pencil liners and lipglosses. But i had an interesting experience at Sephora y’day! Wanted to get the Tarte “Stand Outs” set and while online i saw that the store I visited had it, they didn’t even know about the product, let alone have it there :(.

I’ve had similar results with Sephora “waterproof” eyeliners in black and black purple – they are smudgy, but not in the most flattering ways!

I gave this to a Secret Santa pick I had. She loves it!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
