NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel Orders Brows Around, But Do They Listen?

NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel, $6

This clear NYX eyebrow gel and I have a lot in common… Like, both of us enjoy long walks on the beach, drinking piña coladas and getting caught in the rain.

OK, that, and we’re both also Control Freaks. 🙂

Released a bit ago with the rest of the NYX spring collection, Control Freak works like most brow gels. Just brush the wand through your brows after you fill them in, and the clear gel is supposed to hold the hairs in place — you know, keep them under control?

Get it? Control?

It’s $6 and available now at drugstores, Ulta stores and nyxcosmetics.com.

Performance-wise, I think it’s OK. It doesn’t have the hold of my ride-or-die Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, but c’est la vie. After a few hours wearing Control Freak, the longer hairs at the tail end of my brows start moving, shifting and flappin’ in the breeze.

Not what I’m usually going for…

I guess my brows are just too much jelly for this, LOL! But if you only need light hold, it should do you just fine.

At least it’s only $6. Gotta love that.

I tried the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel in a To Go Kit from Sephora to not splurge on the Full size and I also bought the new Milani Brow gel, but the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel has me hooked and I don’t mind splurging on it because it makes them nearly bulletproof. BTW, the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel will be Ulta’s Beauty Steal on 3/31 for $11 so I will buying 2 for the price of one….so Awesome and I loved reading your review!

That would be fine for me, my brows are pretty easy!

Idk, I think i would just stick to my 90s trick of spritzing hairspray onto a mascara spoolie.

This doesn’t sound too bad! I think I want to try the Anastasia one though. I always a few fly aways that just never want to behave. I need something with a good hold!

I’ve never filled in my brows and most likely won’t ever but to keep them in place I spritz a bit of hairspray on an toothbrush (reserved for just that) and they go no where.

I used to pay no attention to my brows but now I’m trying to fix that. You said the Anastasia clear brow gel is good? I’ll have to keep a lookout seeing as my sephora doesn’t carry Anastasia.

When I first started using eyebrow gel I used one from Dior. Then I figured out that it was just gel with Dior on it… So I started using plain hair gel. Works just fine, and I still do it.

The only brow gel that has ever worked for me is the Anastasia one too! It would have been great if this worked at this price range though! 🙂

This wouldn’t work for me then. Mine are so unruly that it takes a very powerful gel to keep them in check. I use Anastasia clear brow gel as well and love it.

Too bad it isn’t a dupe for the Anastasia for you! I haven’t found my perfect brow gel yet. The Anastasia one is pretty good, but I always seem to smudge the tails of my brows when I use it.

I bought this and tried it out for a few weeks. It held by brows in place pretty well, but it left white flakes in my hair, as though I had eyebrow dandruff (is that a thing?). I’ve since just used the Anastasia brow gel.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
