In Case You Were Wondering If Your…

…immaculate new bottle of Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray will stay fresh to def forever, it won’t. LOL! I hate to dash your hopes, but things are going to get dirrrty.

Case in point: the pic above. I didn’t realize just how dirty those white bottles get until I opened a new one and placed it next to an old one.

OK, first of all, I have no idea what nebulous wormhole the left bottle’s original purple cap disappeared into, but I think the ill-fitting cap on there now is from a rand-o bottle of hairspray.

Second, how did I not notice this poor state of affairs until now? I grab this bottle literally every day (which is probably why it’s covered in makeup, ha!). I’ll usually wash the dirt off a bar of soap, so my blatant disregard for this poor bottle’s sorry condition is weird to me.

Anyway! If you haven’t tried this makeup setting spray before (it’s a total unsung makeup hero), you must! I’ve lost count of how many bottles of it I’ve gone through over the years. Maybe five or six? I even bring a travel-sized one with me on trips. It’s that hardcore, man.

Oh I agree on this, it’s a gamechanger with a capital G! I hate the material on the bottle thought, I get the same issue with makeup smudging all over it. I read that Skindinavia manufactures this spray for UD and their in-house spray is much cheaper for the same product, I’m definitely trying it out soon!

      Hi Jen C,

That’s interesting! I’ll have to see if I can track down that spray. Thank you for the tip.

I have this too and love it. I also want to try out the De Slick spray and see how it compares.

      Hi Rhia,

I’ve used De Slick and it’s OK. I prefer this one! I think it works better.

That’s interesting. I figured the other one would be better for oil control (I have combo skin). Thanks for the info.

Love this!!! I use this every day and my makeup keeps going on, even if I don’t. 😉 I tried (and loved) a sample of UD eye primer potion, Sin, but I guess it’s been modified and now called Minor Sin. Have you done a post about the difference or plan to?

      Hi Ginger!

So glad to hear you’re a fan of this spray too. It’s great.

And yes, I did a post on Minor Sin a while back:

I have a travel size UD sent me as a freebie. I use it instead of water if I want to apply eyeshadows wet. Like their new moondust eyeshadows. It works very well for that. Otherwise, I don’t use it much. Maybe I should?

      Hi Jessica,

You can also use it on a BeautyBlender too! I dampen mine with water first, squeeze most of it out, and then mist it with All Nighter before using it to blend my foundation. Works like a charm. 🙂

Was actually about to review this soon! Have it on my desk in front of me and everything. It’s true, it’s amazing how much you can go through… I use it every single time I wear makeup. I dig it, man.

Also, jeez, they do get dirty, don’t they? D= I’d clean it, but I only have a few drops left anyway. Oops.

I love is as well and yes, the bottle does get really dirty. I don’t use mine on daily basis though, just for special events or when I am going to be outside in the heat for long.

Setting spray/ primer sprays are like crack for your face! I swear!
I actually buy the Skindinavia sprays (they make the UD sprays). They have a more simple black plastic packaging with the small lids which I like much better! No more dirty bottles!!
Skindinavia also sells them in giant size which is a win if you go through it all the time!

This sounds great. Maybe I should check out the Skindinavia one at Ulta. (Karen, I hope you’re sitting down – there’s an Ulta and TJ’s back to back, walking distance from my house!! So far I’ve managed to avoid total overindulgence, but it’s probably a matter of time. 🙂

I absolutely love All Nighter spray but it makes my face break out 🙁 I usually only use it when I need my makeup to last during a long day, or I know I’m going to be outside in the heat a lot. It works great.

The packaging is terrible! I used to love this product a few years back but for some reason it started leaving my face feeling sticky and my undereye area really dry. It could just be my skin has changed though. I do use a spritz of either rose water or the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water and it seems to set everything in place. As far as this pro-longing wear time I’ve never had an issue with makeup sliding around so I can’t say either way.

Oh man, I know this plight all too well. In my bathroom, anything that’s on the counters inevitably gets super dirty because of all the hairspray the builds up. Dirt and makeup sticks to that like…some really appropriate analogy.

How do you stop these fixing sprays drying out your skin? My skin is sooo dry at the moment after A Lot of stress this last 12 months. I use Eucerin 5% urea moisturiser as that seems to help but as soon as I use a fixer my skin goes patchy and flakey. Any ideas gratefully received (am in the UK).

      Hi Bex,

Sorry to hear about your stress. I’m guessing that the dryness might be related to alcohol in the spray, as it can dry out skin. Clinique makes a setting spray that’s alcohol free called Moisture Surge Thirsty Relief Spray. You can use it both under and over makeup, and you should be able to get it over in the UK, I think.

        Hi Karen,

Thanks for the reply. I’ll give it a go and see how I get on. I’ve changed my foundation this week to No7 Stay Perfect in Cool Vanilla and am applying with a sponge instead of blending with my hands and that seems to have helped too.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading your blogs as well.

Mine does the same thing! It’s such a long slow decline it’s hard to notice. I’ve been buying this stuff since it was only from Skindinavia – so good! I have an old travel size freebie that I just keep refilling. 🙂
