I Can Haz Glitter?

September 22nd, 2011 by Karen 17 Comments

Can you remember the last time you wore a glittery nail polish?

If you can’t, you better get on it!

Gahhhhh. I want Deborah Lippmann but I refuse to pay that price tag. That blue-ish green one is fab. I wore Glitter on my purple tips about 2 weeks ago. It jazzed it up as the purple paint seemed cheap looking after I got my nails filled. So I came home and threw on some Sephora OPI silver glitter/fleck polish and perfecto.

I hate that they’re expensive too, but i think of them as a splurgey accessory. The glitters are pretty versatile, and I pair them with more mundane polishes to fancy them up. I really think nothing compares to Happy Birthday.

Except, maybe all those Happy Birthday dupes which come pretty close to being the exact same thing. Wet N Wild and Milani came up with a couple of them…

Across the Universe is one of my favorite nail polishes ever, I’ve never seen anything quite like it 😀

I own all 3 of those Lippmann polishes above, but I wear Happy Birthday ALL the damn time, over any fun color 🙂

I wore Revlon Starry Pink recently which was beautiful but like all glitters, a pain to remove. If glitters weren’t so messy, I’d wear them all the time.

I have Happy Birthday, but I don’t love it as much as Confetti’s Tazmanian Devil! I had it on my fingers just last week, but it’s slowly come off and I haven’t had the time to repaint it. My current favorite way to wear it is layered with one of the Revlon polishes from over the summer, a “Just Tinted” color. I put one layer of Dawn down, then two layers of Tazmanian Devil, then another layer of Dawn, one more layer of Tazmanian Devil, and it cost about $5 total. It’s a warmer version of DLs Candy Shop, and suits me better (besides, it’s so much cheaper!). I love Tazmanian Devil so much I bought it out of all of the stores where I could find it . . . I think I have 4 bottles 🙂

I’ve been lusting over Deborah Lippmann’s Across the Universe soooooo bad! I found a really good dupe for her Bad Romance one though, it’s called Facets of Fuscia, it’s by Revlon. I found it at Target 🙂

Just the other week I did a manicure with glitter accent. I’ve been in a glitter kind of mood. I’m currently looking for sparkly/glittery flats.

I’m so glad Lippmann made glitter sophisticated and high fashion! Not just for kids anymore. =) Last time I wore glitter was on my birthday about a month ago. China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise with multicolored glitter (one of the many Happy Birthday near-dupes) gradient on the tips. It was very festive!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
