Freshly Showered (and Then Five Minutes Later…)

September 15th, 2012 by Karen 39 Comments

No makeup in the pic above! And my hair’s doing its naturally wavy thing.

Five minutes later I looked like this…

I used:

  • NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer (applied with fingers) all over my face
  • MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer under my eyes
  • MAC Concrete eyeshadow applied on my brows with a MAC 266 Small Angle Brush; after filling in my brows, I took what was left over on my 266 and ran that along my upper and lower lash lines for some definition
  • MAC Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash Mascara on my the upper lashes
  • Tarte LipSurgence Lip Shine in Smitten on my lips
  • MAC Studio Careblend Pressed Powder on my forehead and nose to take down the shine

Nothing fancy. Just simple, easy makeup to get me out the door. 🙂

You are beautiful no matter what! I wish I had wave to my hair sometimes! My hair is pin straight.

On the bright side, I can sleep with it wet and wake up with good looking hair :p

      Happy Saturday, Chelsea! 🙂

So jealous of your wash and wear hair! It takes a lot of work to get mine stick straight…seriously, like 30-45 min.

I like using a hot air brush once in a while to get volume, but I like being able to sleep in and still have decent looking hair :p

Lucky duck! You don’t even know how many hours I spent in the ’90s trying to get hair like that, le sigh!

What are you up to tonight? I just got back from a trip to Sephora. I picked up an eyeliner from Laura Mercier called Black Gold.

I wrote a paper for my management class, and hung out with the animals! Quincy got some hop-time while Jiji was taking his nap (he hides in the linen closet for his naps), so he was very happy. We also read People Style Watch…

Aww, Solangel! 🙂 I bet you’d be fun to hang out with IRL too! I’ve met so many wonderful, inspiring gals here on MBB. Wish we could really get together for a girl’s night…that would be so fun.

Hope you’re having a great weekend so far. Doing anything fun tonight?

I love the whole no makeup, makeup look (if that makes sense). You look so fresh and natural, I try to attempt this look daily. That NARS tinted moisturizer looks great on you!

You look gorgeous! I think you and I are hair twins of sorts – mine does the straight/wavy thing, too and it’s super thick. Makeup only enhances your natural beauty <3.

      Hi Katherine,

Ahh, so you feel my pain! 🙂 I love having this texture now, but man, I had some bad haircuts over the last few years. The worst one was the lopsided triangle circa 1995…

Anywho, hope you’re having a nice weekend so far. Have you gotten in any good workouts? I ran six miles today. First time in a few weeks, and it felt really good.

So far it’s a good weekend! Went to a Terps game with a friend/coworker who had season tickets (we love the Maryland Terrapins around here – even though they haven’t had a winning streak in a while – because UMD is our school) yesterday. Today watching football (Go Steelers and Redskins!) and just doing odd jobs around the house.

I like my hair for the most part now. I hated when I was younger how frizzy it would get, but now with a great stylist who does a good job thinning and layering, it’s wash and go hair now. I rarely break out the flatiron anymore unless it’s for something where I have to look more polished. My workout today was push-ups, pull-ups and weights! Now that I have the weights (but still not the bench as it’s on backorder), I am lifting a lot more. Sometimes it is good to take time off because then you have more energy!

    Hi Karen!

Your blog is really well done. I’m Priya, a university student in Mauritius. I just created a blog and my chosen topic is makeup.
I can see in your picture that you are not wearing makeup and I respect that because you proudly show to the world you’re real and natural beauty.

My blog is about Makeup but at the same time I emphasis on the fact that people should not wear too much makeup because they hide their real beauty or they may use it for occasions like parties but not everyday. It becomes normal and even boring sometimes whereas makeup is meant to give an image of unusual.
    What do you think?

Here is the website of a blog I just created: http://khodidaspriya.posterous.com/
Hope you will have a look at it and comment to give your point of view 🙂

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
