to answer your question vaguely & without specific knowledge of that building, but based on the knowledge i have as a born & raised hawaii resident: japanese were among the early immigrants to hawaii. the building, previously owned or established by “m. yoshida” in 1923, has had different businesses housed in it since 1923. haleiwa eats, a thai restaurant, is just the latest tenant.
