Benefit Launches a New Line of Super Shiny Lipglosses

April 16th, 2010 by Karen 22 Comments

Benefit Ultra Shines Lip Shines, $18 each

I gotta say, you guys have GOOD eyes. A few of you noticed the gloss I was wearing in this pic below from last week’s NARS Cactus Flower blush review and immediately demanded the 411!

It’s my new favorite gloss, Benefit Ultra Shines in Spiked Punch, one of five glosses in the new Ultra Shines Lip Shines line ($18 each) which launches next month.

  • Foxy Lady: a diamond rose
  • Back to the Fuschsia: a sparkling fuchsia
  • Wild Child: a glimmering amethyst
  • Spiked Punch:a juicy coral
  • Dancing Queen: a watermelon pink

The Ultra Shines pack a high shine finish, lots of pigment and moisture, and they’re long-lasting to boot. In a nutshell, they’re awesome. I’ll do a more detailed review with lip swatches in just a few, but for now here are a few quick pics for ya.

The timing of your review couldn’t be better for me: I had purchased a couple of the benefit glosses from the permanent line a couple of months ago, and I recently just started wearing them. I used to really like the old formula, though it was a bit drying. I was disappointed with the new lipgloss because of the flimsy wand and funky applicator, mine broke after 4 uses and the weird sponge tip applicator ripped! I was beginning to lose hope in benefit, but now I see that Benefit has changed the funky curved sponge applicator to a brush (which happens to be my favorite type of applicator)! I am so excited for these to come out, I am going to purchase them all!

Loooove Zone Out… I think I’ll have to pick up Spiked Punch as well. By, “pick up” I mean… hmm… what do I mean? Will probably have to do some online shopping and have it sent to my sis in LA… BUT then I’ll have to wait for volcanic ash to settle before it can make its way over to me… 🙁

I am going to try ” spiked punch”.
I seem to be on a coral phase which cannot be satisfied.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
