Why Wear So Much Shimmer on Your Cheeks? The New NARS Multiple in Undress Me Has Multiple Reasons

July 16th, 2012 by Karen 20 Comments

nars multiple in undress me

With all the smokey purples and shimmery platinums blazing on eyes over at NARS fall 2012, I can see why François Nars (can I call you François, Monsieur Nars?) decided to go the sheer pink route with the new Multiple in Undress Me ($39). Smokey eyes and chill cheeks? — a classic pairing, like a more beautiful version of peanut butter and jelly (incidentally, my dinner tonight, because I was too lazy to cook).

But because it’s from NARS, this creamy, multitasking stick, which is designed to lavish both lips and eyes, comes with a twist. Yes, it’s jam packed with oodles of silver glitter. More like buckets, really. I’m talkin’ so much glitter that my shimmer-loving, sequined-covered, feathered-headdress-wearing inner drag queen snaps in full approval.

After I swipe a single layer of Undress Me on my skin and buff it down with my fingers, the glitter reveals itself like a phoenix rising!

Many glittery products give up the glittery ghost about halfway through the day, but oh, not this one. No, this here glitter sticks it out for 6-8 hours on my skin, even if/when I rub at my cheeks (which I did vigorously to see what would happen, and it didn’t budge!).

Of course, all that glitter could be a problem for some, and I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re very concerned about the size of your pores. I feel like Undress Me really magnifies mine, eek! But if that’s not a problem, and you’re looking for a fun way to inject more sparkle into your life and look, Undress Me should do the trick.

PRICE: $39
AVAILABILITY: Available now at NARS counters and narscosmetics.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B (love the glitter and staying power, but it might be too much shimmer for some)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’m with Rachel-so pretty but I’ll look at it from afar! Too sparkly for these old cheeks!

Oh no!! 🙁 It’s great to hear that the glitter sticks around (if you’re going to shimmer, you might as well go all the way, right?), but I definitely shy away from shimmer on the cheeks. I’ll go for mattes over shimmers a good 95% of the time, I’m afraid!!

(Because I’m boring and not at all fun :P)

Gosh reading the few comments that were written I’m just so shocked how boring these people are. Yes, I said it. Boring!!! The Multiple sticks by NARS are one of the coolest products on the market. It was created to be able to use on eyes, cheeks, and lips. Undress Me looks beautiful and I can’t wait to try it on one of the women I work with. Like Sir Nars says “It’s only makeup.”

I wouldn’t say that the women in previous comments were “boring”–some of us just might have a problem with boatloads of glitter enhancing any skin imperfections (i.e wrinkles, large pores, etc.). I myself like to have fun with makeup as much as the next person, but I, too, am passing on this particular Multiple. It will DEFINITELY enhance my *very* large pores as well as bring more shine to my out-of-control oily skin.

Gilby, what may be boring to you is just realistic for others. Some of us are actually aware of when a product does not complement our skin tone or magnifies things such as pores and lines. Boring or not, nothing is less attractive than a person wearing something that does not suit them, either in terms of color or texture. Judgmental much?

It looks great on you! But I wouldn’t use it on myself. My skin tends to get oily, so the last thing I need is more shine. I do like to use shimmer for photoshoots, so my models have to submit to my shimmer palettes! I haven’t tried shimmer in a stick yet, though. This looks like a fun product.

Oooh, it’s sparklerific! That said, I think it would accentuate my pores and my fine lines. I actually gave away my Benefit High Beam because I hated how it looked on my upper cheek bones (really made the wrinkles stand out). For the young and tight-skinned, though, I think this would be a ton of fun in the summer! 🙂

Its pretty — and more than the face and brow bone, im imagining it as a great lip enhancer — if used really subtly that is! 🙂

I haven’t tried any Multiples other than Orgasm (oh, my fiance has so much fun making fun of that one…), and this looks interesting. Orgasm has a lot of shimmer, too, and I originally got it because Allure magazine had dubbed it to be the most universally flattering blush for everyone…and it’s won that award for at least 5 years. I also got it because it truly does look amazing on eyes, lips and cheeks for a quick look in under a minute in the morning. I will definitely be looking at other Multiples, though, especially Undress Me (if they didn’t cost $38 a stick I would probably own a few others by now).

I like the color (especially in light of the other colors in the Nars Fall collection) and the glitter. I understand how others don’t share my affection for glitter, though, especially when skin differences are a part of that.

This is a nice product especially if its so long wearing. I wanted to ask whether it imparted a greyish cast on warm toned skin or of the makeup leaned towards the warmer side?

The color is simply beautiful and, when I’m in the mood for a little (or a lot!) of shimmer, this looks like the ticket. Looks great on you! Thanks for sharing.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
