The Lust List, Vol. 8: Stuff I Kinda Want

May 10th, 2017 by Karen 31 Comments

Pricey palette mania!

What is it about pricey makeup palettes — or me, for that matter, haha! — that makes me wish I could give them all a happy home? Especially the warm ones with a golden brown, a taupe, golden beige and/or peach?

I want to tell them all, “Come live with me, little lovelies, and we shall skip and prance under the light of the full moon.”

On that note…please try to ignore the crazy lady typing on her keyboard, and proceed ahead to this week’s Lust List. 🙂

  1. Charlotte Tilbury Seductive Instant Look in a Palette ($75) — Thanks, gals, for telling me that the Charlotte Tilbury Seductive palette looks great on medium and darker skin tones! Now it’s on mah wish list.
  2. MZ WALLACE Mia Bedford Nylon Crossbody Bag ($325) — This is a straight-up mom bag, and yes, I want it. I’ve been carrying around the same brown Kipling nylon bag FOR YEARS, and it’s starting to look a little long in the tooth… This one’s much more stylish. I like the gold hardware and the red accents. Classy. PLUS, LOOK AT ALL THOSE POCKETS. They’ll come in handy for Connor’s binkies and all the Ziploc plastic bags I seem to need at all times.
  3. Tom Ford Nude Dip Palette ($83) — I have one of Tom’s quads with this same powder shadow formula (it’s even silkier than TF’s other quads, and the shimmer looks almost glossy), and this version? [INSERT DROOL HERE] I’m all about neutral taupe, browns, peach and beige.

Been wanting this FOREVER but have yet to add it to my collection. One could probably wear it along with the Charlotte Tilbury Seductive palette, yes?

  4. BECCA X Chrissy Teigan Glow Face Palette ($46) — I’ve put this in my cart — no joke — at least five times, and when I finish writing this post, I’ll probably do it again. This palette is a collab with model and cookbook author Chrissy Tiegan, and it sold out on the Sephora website in about two seconds.

It’s still on the BECCA site, though! There’s a bronzer, two highlighters and a blush in it, and everything’s warm toned, which is so my jam. My rationale for getting it is that if I also get one for my mom (despite the fact that she hardly ever wears makeup, so this makes NO SENSE AT ALL), I should also be able to get one for myself. Right? RIIIIIIIGHT!

  5. Chanel Contour Eyeshadow Brush #20 ($38) — I’m doing a terrible job of convincing myself that I don’t need any more Chanel eyeshadow brushes…

Why do they have to be SO SOFT?? I keep picturing a whole slew of them in a dainty jar on my desk, and now I can’t un-see that image.

Hit me with what you got on your lust list. I can take it! (And I just might add to mine, haha!)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Ok. I hate to admit this — but I just recently got the seductive beauty, nude dip quad and I juuuuust got the Chrissy Tiegen x Becca face quad…..I gotta stop. I had the nude dip quad in my Nordstrom wishlist forever and then I finally just decided to pull the trigger. As of now, I’m ust eyeing the new Nars liquid cheek colors coming out. I saw the Orgasm version on Emma Stone and apparently they are coming out with liquid Torrid and Dolce Vita (and Luster) — and I loooovvvee these both. So hard to resist when so many cool items are in the market!

      Hi Cherie,

Funny you should mention those NARS blushes because I have them on deck for testing today. 🙂 Where did you pick up the Chrissy quad? Sephora?

Great! Can’t wait to see your testing results! It looked so lovely on Emma Stone and when I read that they had Torrid and Dolce Vita…..crash…just heard my bank break…. I got the Chrissy quad from the Becca website directly so I had no issues there 🙂

Hmm, for me, something that I absolutely could not justify, but kinda want, is the new Tom Ford Soleil Bronzing Brush… It’s got a sharp tip which I can only imagine will be super useful, and it’s super soft too… Ahhh *dreams of said brush suddenly appearing on desk as if by magic*.
Then there’s also the two new Chanel brushes – the retractable ones you mentioned recently, along with Desert Rouge & co. Brushes galore…!!
Plus, something else I’ve become aware of recently, but can’t seem to find anywhere anymore, is the Chanel blush in Canaille… Seems like the most perfect coppery-rusty color I have ever seen in a blush… Want it so much!
I’m 100% sure I could come up with more stuff, but that’s what comes to mind most easily. 🙂

I have been waiting for the new Chanel powder and cream shadows to arrive and just saw them at my local Lord & Taylor. I also saw that the Nars velvet duo shadows are available as well. I am deciding which items I need the most as we are on a limited budget these days. The retractable Chanel brushes are interesting to me as well. Must resist!!!!

I hate to be an enabler, but Nude Dip is one of my all time favorite quads. I use that thing constantly and it still has tons of product. Plus, I think the TF wet/dry formulation is one of the best ever.
Dear Husband mentioned that the Japanese have words that describe people who are obsessed with and collect specific objects. Then he looks at me and asks, “I wonder if the Japanese have a word for someone who is obsessed with and collects Japanese makeup brushes, like you?” So yeah, I get wanting another eyeshadow brush.
Just sprung for the Caroline Hirons/Cult Beauty Box of skincare items, so I’m gonna have to be good for a while.
Still I kinda want some new jeans because I gave away all my fat jeans and now I’ve regained the weight 🙁
And I want some shirts by Equipment and Joie.
Oh and some comfy walking shoes or hip sneakers.

Enabler #2 – I bought nude dip and heart it! If you follow Lisa Eldridge, she has a guest make up tut featuring the MUA for Adele and he uses this palette.
As for Becca, I must avoid at all costs! Otherwise I’ll end up buying it!

      Hi Tina,

Everyone seems to love Nude Dip. ? Need to get on that train ASAP.

Isn’t BECCA great? I’ve been wearing the using the line for over 10+ years. I’m glad to see them doing so many successful things! I love their blushes, especially.

Well Karen, I was a hold out until I picked up the LE Champagne Pop palette that came with Prosecco Pop and three blushes. I was totally hooked! And I just picked up Becca’s Opal which was a 100 points reward at Sephora…Oh, and there’s the Ombre Rouge eye shadow palette that I heart as well…it just all goes downhill quickly! Crap, I forgot that I picked up the Rose Gold highlighter as well…SEE?!!! And Ulta sent me an email stating that the Chrissy palette is at their store as well. It must be a sign…

That TF quad seems to die for. I am the same way about these warm, expensive palettes! I know I don’t need another any time soon, but they’re so prettyyyy.

The Chanel brush should definitely end up on your desk soon!

I might have to make my own wish list this week because I want so many things right now! Like the MAC Fruity Juicy Cremesheen Glasses and Fix +!

Nude Dip is on my wish list too! And do try Seductive Beauty! It was limited edition in the U.K. so not available anymore (I think). It’s way better than any other CT palette on darker skin tones!

Nude dip is gorgeous and heavenly. I’m kind of over palettes with a lot of different colors because I pretty much lean toward the same few colors anyway – just a waste. I also have some scaly bits on my eyelids right now, some eczema or something.

I’ve been buying skincare products. I think I need to simplify my routine though because while I love the feel of layers of serums, actives, a Korean-type routine, my skin does NOT like it. It’s pretty delicate and sensitive, but I have a tendency to attack with active ingredients when it’s doing badly, which makes things worse, of course.

My beauty lust has been satiated with the recent Sephora sale, so I don’t really have my eyes on any makeup right now. I know, crazy!
On the other hand, I want all the sandals, wedges and colorful sneakers…

Whaaat?? I cannot believe you haven’t bitten the bullet on Nude Dip yet!! ? I mean, it took me months to finally hit that order button too, but it’s SO good, Karen!! SO GOOD! Not as warm as the Honeymoon one I know you have, but it’s basically a consolidated (and much much better quality) naked palette! So much love! DO IT! lol 🙂

      Hi Jonirae,

I mean… I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I should just go ahead and pull the trigger. I finally did it wish a Viseart palette; it’s time for Nude Dip.

What do you typically like to wear it with?

I love it because I am kind of makeup handicapped– i am addicted to it, but I just do not have the coordinated girl-skills that are necessary to pull off full looks! (tragedy, lol) I like to play, but when it comes to actual life I’m usually a medium brown in the crease with a shinier cream over the lids kinda girl…. but for some reason with nude dip I suddenly feel like a blending master, lol! the colors come together for a lovely eye contour better than I should be capable of!
plus, it goes with basically any lip, which is the only facial area I get adventurous with! 🙂
if you decide to splurge, I really hope you love it too!! it’s hard cause when you look at it it almost seems redundant against your stash… but it’s Tom Ford, and as much as I’d love to hate that guy…. ha, you know! 😉

I’m lusting after loads of Elemis skincare products at the moment, especially the facial oils. In fact, as I’m up early today I think I’ll pop into town and get it! I can’t wait for the new Chanel eye colours and brushes but they aren’t launching until 30 June here in the UK, will be pouncing on my nearest counter that morning!

I just order the Chrissy palette today and I SWEAR THAT’S GOING TO BE IT. Truthfully, I don’t really splurge on much except for makeup and for the most part, I’m pretty good about passing up a lot of stuff. But I really love Chrissy! I have her cookbook and I’ve been following her social media for a few years now. She’s even liked a couple of my Instagram posts when I’ve tagged her after trying something out of her book! So I guess what I’m saying is that the palette is like the next best thing to being friends with her in real life 😀

I bought the Chrissy Teigen palette and I LOVE IT! I loved the Jaclyn Hill one too, but my CT love is on a whole other level. I’ve also had that Tom Ford palette in and out of my cart for at least a year, probably more. Everyone tells me I need it but I have bad luck when I order TF palettes. They always arrive shattered or the pans are unglued. Every.single.time.
