Sweet Holiday Treats and a Virtual Beauty Break at Sephora

October 19th, 2012 by Karen 45 Comments

sephora holiday 2012

In case you were wondering what conversations are like before you go to bed when you and your man have been together for 10 years…

El Hub: We should bake some chocolate chip cookies this weekend.

Me: YEAH WE SHOULD!

El Hub: Not those bullsh*t ones from the Toll House tube. They’re good —

Me: But they’re a little too sweet!

El Hub: … I was gonna say they all taste the same. But yeah, I guess they are a little too sweet. And they don’t have anything cool in them like M&Ms.

Me: Yuck! I don’t like M&Ms in my cookies…

El Hub: How can you not like M&Ms in your cookies?

Me: The crunchy shell. It’s just too much. It’s like it defies natural cookie law. I like my mine with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Sometimes with nuts. But not too nutty.

El Hub: You’re too nutty!

Me: Haha. I’ll get a bag of chocolate chips at the store tomorrow, and we’ll make cookies from scratch. It’s easy. We’ll just put M&Ms in yours and leave mine pristine and pure, the way chocolate chip cookies were meant to be. 🙂

No big surprise, but I woke up this morning craving cookies for breakfast.

The only ones we had in the house were the macarons I got at Bouchon Bakery yesterday in Yountville…

Cookies…the breakfast of champions!

I guess they’ll have to suffice. We’ll need fuel for our trip to Sephora today.

Here, have one. Or two. We’ll need the sustenance. 🙂

Yes, we’re skipping work/school/watching the kids (just strap ’em in the stroller and bring ’em along!) to go look at makeup this morning. There are way too many great holiday noms on the shelves right now, and I refuse to go without you. You know the old saying: “Two makeup nerds are better than one.”

Let’s look around…

LORAC Eye Candy Full Face Collection

Oh, wow! — the six palettes in LORAC’s new Eye Candy Full Face Collection look like chocolate bars!

I love that…

Okay, now I need to take my mind off of food because my tummy’s rumbling…

I love these cute nail sets from Ciate and Sephora By OPI. I’m going through a phase where all I want to do on the weekends is paint my nails and nap.

These should do nicely!

OOH! Lots of cute stuff from Stila, Smashbox, Hello Kitty and Korres. Might be a good time to start crossing some of those gifts off your Christmas list. Or maybe snag something for yourself? Hey, you’ve been good (I’ve been watching).

Karen

I bought the Lorac set when it first came out and I don’t find the colors to be as pigmented as they usually are. Anyone else think that?

      Hi Lisa,

Hmm, I thought the pigmentation seemed pretty good when I swatched it. I have yet to try it on my eyes, though.

Makeup kits that look like candy bars? GENIUS! I may have to splurge on that — looks like you get a lot of stuff for the price.

Oh, and I’ll definitely take some chocolate chip cookies, light on the nuts, pass on the M & M’s.

Mostly just relaxing and catching up on some studying this weekend, although I do get to see my brother and my sister-in-law today. 🙂 I haven’t seen them in awhile, so I’m looking forward to it. All of my excursions to the Bouchon in Yountville were with them! 🙂 My sister-in-law loves the NapaStyle store that’s there as well. ^^

Happy Friday to you too! Hope you have a great weekend! ^^

I saw the Lorac pallettes at Sephora the other day, loved them, and then realized they were all included in the price. Super good for gifts and then I don’t feel like a cheapskate giving out on Stila lip gloss which I’ve done before.

Whenever you do these kinds of posts, I am always so amazed at how pretty and organized your Sephora is! The 3 closest to me are NOWHERE near as good. One is quite small and messy, one is bigger but doesn’t have all those pretty displays like yours has, and the third is pretty big but still doesn’t look as nice. :/

I saw those Lorac palettes in Sephora too. First thing I thought, “Oooh Lorac chocolate! Makeup and chocolate my favorite things let’s see how it tas…It’s not chocolate =(” Clever packaging though. I might snag a few to confuse my female relatives on my Christmas list.

The Ciate gigantor nail polish gift set is my consideration. I’m thinking I’ll split that gift set into pairs or triplets for small gifts/stocking stuffers. Maybe throw in some shades in my stash I’ve outgrown? I kind of have a reputation as the nail polish lady in the family. I also need to save money while I’m at it.

Did you go to the Sephora in San Francisco? As busy as that location is I love the thorough organization and ample walking space it has.

I’m going to make chocolate chip cookies this evening, no M&M’s, just chocolate chips. But I use whole wheat flour, makes them a little “toothy” but a teensy bit healthier for the kids! LOL!

Thank you so much for the virtual tour, it was just what I needed. I live VERY rural, but I can still find ways to get my paws on great makeup and new releases thanks to your reviews and pics.
