Sonia Kashuk Spring Treasures and Good Old-Fashioned Improv

April 16th, 2009 by Karen 62 Comments

Hi, chicas! I woke up this morning to some Internetz trubs, so until my new friend from Comcast works it out, I’ll be improv blogging from my phone.

I know these pics of the new Sonia Kashuk Spring Treasures collection ($13-20) look kinda Blair Witchy, but I couldn’t wait. I’m testing these out today, and so far so good with the brushes. The heads feel super soft (like Tabs’s fur!).

I’ll post swatches of the highlighting powder and palette soon, hopefully using something better than the camera in my phone, LOL!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    Happy Thursday Karen!

I love love love the handles on these brushes, I might buy the set just because they are so cute!

I made a sad connection: I realized that energy drinks make me break out. I tested it…and when I don’t drink Monsters, my skin is awesome. When I do drink one, I wake up with some serious skin monsters on my face. Sad, sometimes I really need the caffeine 🙁

Hi Vanessa H., hmm, how about drinking green tea instead? You’ll get a lil caffiene plus it’s full of lots of good anti-oxidants!

I here you on the caffiene dependency. Without a cup of coffee in the morning I’m cranky!

    Karen,

I love this set! Ever since I purchased them, I have been using them everyday along with some of my MAC brushes. The handles are really unique (which is really why I wanted them SO bad!) =) Anyways, I love the way Tabs just cooperates for all of your pics! You have an kool kitty!

Thanks a crap-ton! I was hoping that you’d do a review of these because I need some new brushes. My brushes from Sephora look BUSTED. Tabs looks so sweet in that picture! They always look cute when they’re asleep though huh?

I only purchased the set with the case, I didn’t want to get the Kabuki brush until I knew I loved the others…which I dooo! lol I also went and purchased the Flat top blusher brush from Sonia’s other (black handle) collection and I must say I found my new fav. brush! I shall be heading over to ‘targhay’ pretty soon to pick up the Blending sponge and the Kabuki brush!

    Happy spring Karen!

Zena sounds like a great dog! I grew up with dogs and I miss having a pup around. Now that Tabs is in my life I dunno if I’m going to be able to have dogs in the future… Tabs is very possessive of his humans and not the type to share.

I love this line of brushes and think this set is a deal steal! I highly recommend her Foundation Brush, the Councealer Brush, both the large and small eye shadow Contour Brush and the Smudge Brush. After reading an article comparing one of her brushes to a very popular makeup artist line, I decided to give to check it out for myself. I went back for more after I was convinced of the quality for the low price, especially for your “work horse” brushes that need to be replaced more often.
The article also praised her lip crayon comparing it to Nars Matte Lip Crayon. Again a winner for me at roughly $8.00, plus I find it is not as drying as the Nars can be.
The eyeshadow is average, the colors are pretty but don’t last even with a primer.

AND THEN they go and finally build one at home (Hawaii)!
